i don't know what the screen damage is, but if i were you i would try to check wether it was just the connector coming loose...
never lose hope!

I'm gonna take it apart over the ( bank holiday) weekend and have a look!

Hopefully, you're right and we'll roll on!

I don't know if this question had been asked before, do you think Apple will use the new Xeon Chips? top performance Mobile version of Xeon?
The top model of the i7 family is the Core i7-6970HQ for now (600$) is there a possibility that we may get the Xeon E3-1575MV5 in a MacBook Pro 15 inch? (1200$)

:D

My dear, every question you can imagine had been asked before on this thread....

Anyway, we don't know for sure what's happening with the upcoming MBP, but I won't bet about the Xeon Processors.
It is a possibility, yes, but considering Apple habit, I wouldn't consider it doable.

I still cant get over the fact that the new rMBP hinges are rumored to be MIMed (metal injection moulded). The current hinges are quite complex, and have never required MIM before. So whats so special this time, that MIM will be required. How intricate are these new hinges going to be, and will they serve another function other than just being a normal hinge?

They've never used anything that expensive in a macbook pro. It's actually quite impractical given the resulting pricetag for a marginal performance bump.

I could see them including the E3-1545M v5 ($679.00) as the top end option. Better CPU performance and slightly better integrated graphics performance.

I think the lineup could be something like:
  • i7-6870HQ Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz) - $434.00
  • i7-6970HQ Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.70 GHz) - $623.00
  • E3-1545M v5 Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz) - $679.00
But wait!?! Where's the i7-6770HQ you ask:eek:

Same price as the i7-6870HQ, that's where.

But this might make too much sense. Like me, don't get your hopes up. We're talking about a company who's left their computer line high and dry.

As for the $1200 E3-1575M v5, nohohohohooo way.<--Edit: So much no I just turned into Santa Claus there for a secondo_O. The price to performance difference just isn't practical.

Xeon chips are not going in the MBP.

That's one of the stupidest ideas I've heard on this thread.

Xeon are designed for use in data centres/HPC clusters/servers, etc. They're not designed for use in low power, general purpose computers with graphics demands and high performance peripherals.

It has the same power envelope as the Core i7 6770HQ. 35-45 watt. It is basicly a Core i7 6770HQ with a dash of more features and wider AVX registers.

They aren't discussing the Xeon's that you would find in a workstation like the Mac Pro or data center servers. They are talking about Intel's new mobile Xeon processor, which is designed to go into high-end portable computers where great performance is a must. Other PC manufacturers such as HP and Lenovo have already announced laptops that will use these mobile Xeon's. They don't use any more power than an i7, so it is a possibility that Apple could offer them as an option for the 15" MBP. I doubt they will do so, however.

That makes a perfect sense...1200$ E3-1575Mv5 is a long shot anyway :D

I think I agree with oppenheim for once. I highly doubt they would put Xeon mobile processors in the new 15". They have always been moderately high end laptops, never full workstations.... probably because that is a very small market

On a side note. Where are some G D rumors! Anyone see anything on those chinese sites?

Rumors for Macs have always been much rarer because Macs aren't produced in the volume that iPhones are. I'm not betting on anything substantial for awhile yet.

Everyone talking about the Xeons are making the argument that it makes sense and its possible, but its unlikely. I don't think anyone here is saying that it is more than likely a Xeon will make it into the MBPs.

On a side note. Where are some G D rumors!

In the void

pleeaassseeee stop counting down the days every day, it just makes the wait seem longer

Well, it's a drop in the bucket compared to how long some have been waiting (looking at you multiyear folks). I have no doubt this threads longevity, we could easily make it into 2017 without killing each other.

Hello,

If the new MBP be presented on WWDC, do you guys know if it is possible to Apple start selling it on stores after 20th July? I need to get a computer before 20th July and I am not sure about historical data on this aspect (how long it takes to start selling).

I have a feeling telling me that I will be hugely disappointed by the new Apple MacBook, I don't know why!
Same. And thats the reason Ive started to look towards alternatives. As much as I hate Windows, I think Ill go with the Surface Book, and keep my 5K iMac for Mac OS needs.

Just hope Apple delivers this dub dub, otherwise no more of their portable notebooks for me.

Don't scratch your desks with surface book plz

Apple will offer for the $3399 macbook pro the intel xeon with 32 gb ram
