a message was posted on a Chinese MBP forum 25 hours ago,
the original poster claims that MBP will be updated in WWDC 2016.
- new design
- update cpu&gpu
- more colors (black, gold, rose gold)

however, the OP refuses to identify the source, but claims it's reliable.

I can't wait until the new MBP is announced with 3.5" jack and USB-A and everything just so Oppenheim will shut up -_-
I still find it amazing that people are arguing about the 3.5mm jack like there's any serious chance apple will remove it on the next rMBP. How does a rumor about a "phone" mean the exact same thing will happen to a laptop? Who seriously made the jump that if the iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack (a rumor that has just been contradicted by another rumor), then surely their next laptop won't either, despite the fact the just released 2016 rMB has a 3.5mm jack? It makes ZERO sense that they would remove such a standard port on a laptop that it's idiotic to believe it would actually happen right now. Is there a "chance" it could be removed? Yes. Anything is possible. Is it likely to be removed? No. Why? Because Apple isn't "that" stupid to do such a thing.

This reminds me of one thing I learned from this thread, back on page like 250 or something was that in Chinese, Landlord means "OP". Very useful for those rare times where i'm translating Chinese pages to english.

- more colors (black)

The return of the Blackbook, in Pro form? Good god this sh*t could be epic. Well worth the wait if true.

BRB placing orders for two.

I came across this forum just before the March event (my first ever event - imagine my disappointment after all the hype!)

Weeks later we're scrabbling around in the dirt searching for non existent scraps of info, bickering over assumptions about connectors. And I don't get it. Why haven't Apple revealed anything about their new line? They are losing customers to Dell and co as longtime Mac supporters take their only existing options for an upgrade. Don't Apple want to hold onto these people? A simple mention of a summer upgrade would cause most people to hang on rather than jump ship.

I'd think most MBP buyers would be aware of the "don't buy" advice, so Apple keeping quiet isn't necessarily protecting sales of the 2015 models. Or are Apple really so arrogant that they enjoy the intrigue regardless of any market share loss? I bought into this ecosystem very recently, and I love it. But I don't like the way Apple treats its Pro user base.

Would love to see the effect a genuine competitor had on this situation.

Most customers don't know or care. They walk into the Apple store and ask for the "newest MBP." Never will a customer ask the generation of a processor. Apple knows this. If they announced new rMBPs now, months in advance, the majority of customers will stall, and Apple will lose rMBP sales until that time.

They cant risk losing sales, by announcing new rMBPs to please a minority like us.

Not to be mean or anything but that's been the general idea of the update for the last 200 pages.

I was reading here for months now. My mid2010 is only a shadow of itself, crashing on a daily bases due to (another ....) GPU failure.

I was hoping the skylake mbp would come in march, but it didn't.

Personally I don't care about the dGPU anymore (doesn't matter if it's Polaris, Pascal or whatever). I have seen too many dGPU failures in recent macbooks (2010 and 2011 models failed on me) and I don't really need one anymore. (iGPU is fast enough for the things I do)

What I would like to see are improvements to the display. bigger than sRGB color space (dci-p3 or even better adobe RGB), maybe higher resolution.
A fast quadcore is a must have, but I think as long as the Macbook Pro line stays alive, we will see this.
Reduced prices for RAM upgrade (and up to 32GB) and SSD would be very welcome. Apple increased prices in Europe last year and the macs are no longer good value here.

I bought this one cuz i'm unreasonably optimistic that Apple will include TB3 (and thus, USB 3.1 Gen 2 connectivity).

Is this what I think it is?
eGPU?
How much did you pay that?

However, I would say that the rMB, like the original Air was, is far more of a "forward thinking device" than the more traditional rMBP.
I would dare to say that this is false.
Let me be clear.
While the old MBA was treated kinda like the actual rMB ("no ports! too much thin! too much expensive!"),
it was an innovative product. It was really one of the first (if not the first) ultrabook, and if you take a look at all the ultrabooks around, they're all shaped like the Air.
But its innovation design wasn't the thinness, or the few ports.
It was the flash-based architecture, and the idea of support the MBA with iCloud.

Now think about how many Apple computers are using SSD and flash architecture.
Yep.
This was the real revolution in the design process.
Now, where is it in the rMB?
The keyboard?
No fans?
One port?
Do you see, for example, the Mac Pro near in the future totally with no fans?

Considering that looks like Apple believe that iPads are "the future of computers" (*sigh...) maybe yes, but not anyhow close to this times.

Just did a google translate on this rumor - it's not really saying black, i guess space grey is bad translated

Update: The update will die at WWDC in June released a new MacBook Pro, CPU & GPU, while adding three colors ( black and pink gold ) , is expected in September will update the desktop Mac, specifically to open conference or steal more unclear. Still the same , not to disclose information sources , fidelity . Recently a friend to buy a MacBook Pro and other new MacBook Pro up .

We all know the so called black is gonna be Space Grey, which is still fine to me

Ok, I'm getting tired about it so I'm gonna throw my 2 cents, despite this will make some people become crazy berserkers yelling at me.

Removing it on an iPhone is stupid, at least until a new better standard comes. Why is it stupid? Because many people hear stuff with iPhone while walking, at train, running, etc. using it like it was the iPod before.

Now, on Macbook Pros: these are not consumer computers. These are computers made for working, despite people using them to watch movies and casual stuff. Obviously you can use it the way you want, but we all know Apple wants us to use things on concrete way ("You hold it wrong", you remember?). Audio engineers (mixing, mastering, etc) won't ever use Mac's jack, but an external DAC, external audio soundcard, or a digital soundcard plus professional converters. The same goes with people working with videos or multimedia stuff. Of course you could do a fast audio test with normal headsets, but you won't work with them.
Maybe the problem is that some people perceive MBP as a more power capable computer to consume contents instead of a working machine, while Apple wants it to be differentiated from MB, and to be used for work usage. And to consume contents you need normal headsets thus 3.5mm jack port, but to work with it the jack port is not needed since there are much better performing options.

Now: if this jack port is removed for the sake of thinness, then I agree it's stupid. It wouldn't be justified. If this jack port is removed for a good reason (I don't see which good reason would make reasonable removing this port), then it's OK. But I see Apple removing this port now or in the near future tho, so get used to it like we got used to work without CDs or Ethernet port.
So if they remove it and you are an audiophile, you can get an USB DAC for a few bucks that will be WAY better than the Mac's internal, and you'll appreciate the difference. If you are a casual user, you'll have to go for bluetooth options while there's no better "casual option". If those bluetooth options have bad sound quality to you, then the DAC is the way to go (and you'll notice the difference between DAC & jack, as you noticed the difference between jack & bluetooth).

Would you all be happy if they swapped the Thunderbolt 2 ports for Thunderbolt 3/USB-C 3.1 and left the other ports as is? I feel like that's the best solution to the problem. Then anyone who is used to Thunderbolt 2, which is probably very few people as Thunderbolt never seemed to take off nearly as much as Apple expected, can buy adapters for their items instead of forcing 99% of the populace to do so.

What competition? I just bought a top of the line Dell XPS 15 (arguably the closest 15" MBP comparable Windows machine on the market) and the QC / customer service is horrendous for a $2,000+ machine. The Windows notebook market is literally a joke. I wish I held onto my 2012 MBP rather than jumping the gun on an upgrade.

The original MBAs still had spinning drives (4200 rpm!) in them by default - it was only in 2010 that they went all-flash, while also adding a fair few more ports. iCloud also wasn't around until three years later (you could argue that they had MobileMe, but that was a paid service and was nowhere near as ubiquitous as iCloud is today).

I think the innovation in the MBA really was the design and size - as you say, almost every laptop competing with it now has the wedge design and aluminium enclosure. Flash architecture was coming with or without the MBA, the price only started to come down later on though - I could be remembering incorrectly, but you could only configure the first MBA with a 64GB SSD as a BTO option.

The rMB is another experimental ultraportable, but, just as things Apple learned from the MBA permeated through the Mac line, the rMB will have its own legacy. I'd be surprised if we didn't see the new keyboard, terraced batteries, smaller logic board, fanless design and USB-C in at least some of Apple's products in the near future.

I wouldn't mind them keeping the hdmi port, but I think USB-A connections would be too redundant. I don't have a problem switching to USB-C.
