It is a bit confusing to see HD graphics 530 when the current broadwells have what appears to be better integrated graphics. Why would intel do that? some technical problem or am i misunderstanding ?

Let's just hope Intel and Apple are trolling us by not giving any information to could lend to speculate that there is a refresh coming for the MacBook Pro (or at least the 15").

If it's a complete redesign I can imagine Apple wanting to surprise us. Maybe Tim is finally doubling down on secrecy.

I can't imagine the current 15" HASWELL MBP lasting until next year. I just don't see it. Then again, they were ballsy enough to even release a Haswell MBP this year.

Apple's troll game is definitely on point.

Only like 6 more weeks guys. Let's wait it out.

Only the 45 W TDP and higher versions support Iris Pro. The 45 W TDP Iris Pro versions are not yet available, AFAIK. See also:

So MBP 13" and 15" Skylake pretty much confirmed for 2016.

Well, I am not buying the 15" before it has the Iris Pro (or at-least GT3e ). I'm going integrated only this time, I am tired of having macbook pros with dead GPU's. The Iris Pro is almost 4 times the performance of the HD 530.

Still think the 15 inch skylake will be out 2015 with the mobile xeon processor. I believe apple requested for the xeon mobile processor because its unusual to release such a processor in this year when the rest are being released next year. 13 inch will come in 2016.

Seems unlikely to me. Afaik the Xeon is available in two clockrates only. How would they diverse the low/high end 15"? Also no room to bump the processor at all.

At this point, Skylake MBP in 2015 seems like wishful thinking.

Correct. The waiting game starts again. Both early or mid (wwdc 2016) release is possible now.
Starts again - its been going on. I, as many other people were not expecting apple to come out with a skylake MBP this year. Yes back in June when they rolled out a minor spec bump to the MBP, I was hoping for a fall skylake release but that increasingly became unlikely.

I've got to admit that there was wishful thinking from my part, but I wasn't waiting on apple, I was waiting for Intel. They do this every year, release crap first and then wait for the real worthy ones months down the road. I thought this year was going to be different because of the broadwell mess. If they had released something worth using this month I don't doubt apple releasing a skylake rMBP in Oct 2015. I mean in 2012 the 13" rMBP was launched just to be updated 4 months later in Feb 2013. Intel sort of "dictates" when Apple is going to release a new laptop.

Yup pretty much, and I got a gut feeling Apple wont do a redesign in early 2016 either. They would just update the internal with skylake. And then probably in late 2016 they will do a redesign with the same internal as the early 2016 probably with minor internal changes.

That would make Apple mbp lineup exciting until 2017 when cannonlake arrives.

Haha love it that we're already talking about Cannonlake, even skipping Kaby Lake.

2016 it is then. No way Apple is releasing the 15" without Iris Pro. I was naive to think that Intel actually would have been on-schedule for once ;)

They released the specs for the potential 13", but for some reason not even any info on the Iris Pro models.

What's mildly amusing is people thought "October" was possible when the Apple site still has every MBP stamped with "New".

In any case, Broadwell refresh, please and thank you.

From what I read Kaby Lake is an anomaly, its breaking the tick-tock cycle. It could be Apple could use Kaby Lake in late 2016 for what I think the supposedly redesign mbp. But Apple could decide to skip it and straight to cannonlake, just like the 15" broadwell.

You actually expect skylake MacBook Pros this year? You're going to be disappointed if that's what you're waiting it out for

I'm also skeptical but you never know what Apple (and Intel) have up their sleeves. Apple and Intel are best friends, and best friends often have secrets, don't they? ;)

Not saying that this is going to happen, but if there's one customer who gets priority it's Apple :)
