What's mildly amusing is people thought "October" was possible when the Apple site still has every MBP stamped with "New".

In any case, Broadwell refresh, please and thank you.

If intel had the chips ready, what would stop them? Did you see the lineup of skylake laptops in intel keynote today?

Anybody knows if those new MBPs will accept more RAM?
I read somewhere they could go up to 64GB, but not sure where...

Link?

Both MBP's use Iris with the 15" using Iris Pro, nothing suitable seems like it's coming for the MBP.

Looks like I might just get a cheap $200-$300 laptop to tie me over. rMBP is a want not a need for me, I don't even own a laptop right now haha.

64GB RAM would require four RAM slots and it would seem more likely that Apple will only use two like in previous iterations. However, with DDR4 you are able to use 16GB RAM sticks, so it would allow the rMBP's to have 32GB DDR4 RAM.

Yup pretty much, and I got a gut feeling Apple wont do a redesign in early 2016 either. They would just update the internal with skylake. And then probably in late 2016 they will do a redesign with the same internal as the early 2016 probably with minor internal changes.

That would make Apple mbp lineup exciting until 2017 when cannonlake arrives.

They don't do redesigns as a feature.
They do it as a result of changing the internals.

The MBP does not have RAM slots/sticks.
And 32GB RAM sticks have been available since DDR3...

Except Apple pursuit of thinness, that's a feature.
And the new Macbook is an indication for the future design direction for Apple to redesign the Macbook Pro line.

The MacBook has a 5-7 business days wait for delivery on the apple store doesn't that usually mean new models coming soon? or they just low on stock?

As I said, that is a result of changing the internals, and achieving better thermal profile.

It's iPhone season. That's all it means.

New models coming soon = 2-3 weeks or more.

You are absolutely correct. I used the totally wrong terminology.

However, the current Macbook Pros use two DDR3L RAM modules and currently there are no suitable 16GB RAM modules available. The largest one is 8GB and that's why rMBP's currently cap at 16GB RAM.

Apparently this might soon change and there will be higher density modules with 16GB RAM. This way the cap would go up to 32GB RAM.

If Intel has chips ready, Apple wouldn't hesitate to refresh the line because of a new sticker on the website. If there is no refresh, it's because chips aren't available, not because of an arbitrary website decoration.

Also, the longer "New" is on there, the more they will sell.

My post was more of an insult to injury, not that that is actually a primary reason as to why it isn't coming.

No new rMBP this year. Next generation (likely redesigned with usb-c ports, butterfly keyboard,...) in early-mid 2016.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Apple get a bulk shipment of processors from Intel a few years ago before they were released and available to any other manufacturer? With all of the hiccups that Intel has had, it is probable that they want to make Apple happy and will be releasing chips to them before they are available for anyone else.

In years past Apple has done early/mid and late year MBP releases, it was atypical, although it has happened once or twice, for them to release an early and mid-year MBP with no late year release. I, like a lot of others here, am anxiously waiting Apple's new release, however we will have to continue waiting.

October 2013, I THINK (could be wrong) Apple got parts before anyone else.

I'm very curious at what the next redesign will look like and what apple has in store for us. Looks like we'll have to wait until early next year to find out :(

I'm with you. I'm far more interested in the other aspects of a redesign than which CPUs and when they'll ship.

Lovely place you live, by the way. ;)

ok, CPU's are announced and MSI is already telling us that they upgrading their gaming laptops... not that I care, but I'm ready for the last 2 months to pull the trigger on a rMBP 15'! Let's do this Aplle, I'm struggling to keep that cash together for another 2 months... or even longer... 1st world problem !

Actually this isn't a first world problem. This is really a serious problem.
