skylake also supports TB3, while broadwell does not.
its not only about the speed
This is true. But I was talking just about the speed :)
If you need/want TB3 and are willing to wait six months (fictitious number just for this discussion), that's fine.
Or even more understandable, the screen quality bump which has been rumored.

Does somebody know if they announce new MacBooks right at the Keynote if there are any new ones? Or is it possible that they announce them at a later point during the WWDC (Day 2 or 3 ...) ?

Keynote only. It's part of how the marketing machine generates the hype. They'd lose any possible momentum (and millions in sales) to do it on another day.

Before this, we had Digitimes correctly guessing the resolution in December of 2011. And that's about it.

i could be wrong, but the rumors about screen resolution usually came from higher resolution wallpapers discovered in newer OSX version.
in this case we already have everything up to 5k -res. used in the imac- therefore we are unlucky this time (i doubt we'll have anything higher than 4k in the laptops)

From the way I read the situation Apple looks least interested in upgrading the Pro Macbook's I am particularly interested in looking forward to an update to the 15" rMBP but the way it is going I don't see we will see new updates in the 13" & 15" rMBP before fall mostly not even before October-November of 2016 ! Apple You Suck !!

So what will you guys do if they don't announce it on WWDC ?

Lose my ****?

I'm really wanting a new laptop before I start college this fall. Currently my only mobile computer is my iPad. It will be fine for taking notes in class, but I want something more powerful to use as my main device, something I can take to the library for hours and includes my 300 GB of music. Being without a laptop (been about a month and a half without one so far) is starting to drive me nuts. An iPad is not a laptop replacement. I can't stress that enough. And I just can't get a Windows laptop because I prefer OS X so much.

You're right. People found the HiDPI mode in Lion, which then Digitimes said Macbooks with the resolution were coming. So yeah, it makes sense we didn't get early warnings. It's much easier for Apple to keep Macbook Pro leaks minimal.

I never understood keeping it secret for an aging product line whose sales are declining. Computers are a major purchasing decision. There are people out there that may buy another system entirely and then you've lost that customer for 3-5 years or longer if they don't come back. I would leak laptop and desktop iterations, and keep phone and tablet announcements water tight.

This. That's why I think WWDC will come and go without new MBPs.

Except that the only way people can make apps for iPhones and iPads is with macs. They need to supply people with the macs, or the developers switch to windows machines.

You are right. That makes my Kaby Lake ramblings even feasible.

Lol. No.
I remember this time last year when people on this forum thought skylake MacBook pros would be coming out in June, then in the fall, etc. and look now they are will not out . A full year later.

Anyways there is no chance of Kaby lake MacBook pros in 2016. Not even a miracle would make that happen.

June of 2017 is the earliest we could see Kaby lake MacBook pros. And even then may be to early

WWDC is not held in the second half of the year.
right because the MacBook pros are coming out before the 2nd half of the year starts

Kaby lake is going to suck either way. Brace yourselves for Skylake then probably straight to 10nm Cannonlake in late 2017.

After a clean install, my 2013 MBA feels much snappier. I think I could send to hell the upgrade I planned for this year and keep it indefinitely. Man, I wish I bought a rMBP instead of this 3 years ago.

I will be perfectly happy with the 2015 version but I don't want to get it if a new version is announced soon.

I have a non SSD mid 2012 with 4 meg RAM and anything will be an improvement, the spinning beachball is driving me crazy.
