This forum in general is pretty sad these days. I'm actually thinking of leaving and going somewhere else to talk about Apple products, because I really don't like the atmosphere anymore. It was much better years ago IMO. Sure, there has always been those that said "Apple is doomed" but these days, it seems like it's the majority of people are just so negative about everything. Now, I understand that Apple deserves lots of criticism these days, but I would much rather deal with it in a rational manner instead of the craziness I see here all the time now.

What do you understand about 'Apple deserves lots of criticism these days'?

It means that I can understand why people are being so critical, but not why lots of them are acting with all of the Apple hatred, blind Google worship, endless complaining, etc.

As for the criticism itself I am alluding to...

There is the fact that they don't care as much about the Mac as they should. They have generally ignored it compared to iOS and made the machines less versatile than they used to be. They are selling 2013 hardware at 2016 prices.

There is Apple Music which is lackluster and iTunes which is a bad, bad app.

The fact that the iPhone 7 is just going to be a warmed over iPhone 6/6s, especially when they need to hit a home run.

(Just a few examples)

It's like anything you love/loved/formed some sort of relationship to...it hurts more when you perceive that you've been 'let down' I guess...

This is really my only problem with Apple right now.
Keep your hardware reasonably up-to-date and I'm happy.
Simple.

I also have a problem with them still selling that 2012 cMBP for full price too. That's just embarrassing as all hell, and they are really screwing over consumers. That particular machine should have got the axe years ago.

I would like to see rumors.. For example a fingerprint scanner, smaller bezels,.. polaris :(

Not to mention the Thunderbolt Display & Mac Mini....

I am really hoping Apple will release the new rMBP at WWDC. Don't know what I would do, as the need for a laptop is growing by the day...
The Razer Blade isn't even available in the Netherlands and don't want to resort to a Dell or HP.

Hmmm...perhaps it's time I sent Tim Cook another 10,000 word email. ;)

I would've been okay with it sticking around if it was still getting updates for those who really want a CD drive and upgradeability. The machine right now (especially its screen, and even worse, its price) down right laughable in 2016.

A Mid 2016 cMBP with a 28W Skylake CPU, 120 or 250GB SATA SSD, 4GB RAM, and an IPS 1440x900 screen bump for $799 would be a decent machine.

I just took a look... wtf is up with those SSD prices

*Takes a quick look at Newegg...

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB: $85

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 512GB: $208

And its not like these Samsung SSDs are the cheap ones either.

I love Apple's hardware and I love their software, but this kind of stuff I don't really like.^^^^
I understand that they're a business but overcharging this much for a component that should already be included in the system just seems like they're preying on people who don't know better.

Well, first of all you're not getting 2.5" drives into that macbook.
Holy crap, Apple is still selling a laptop with a 2.5" drive... Sweet jesus take the wheel of that company immediately!
Second of all, upselling is a HUGE source of income to Apple. Just look at the iPhones with 16(!) GB internal memory and no SD slots.

I agree that Apple overcharges for component upgrade but ssds aren't exactly a massive overcharge. You posted prices for 2.5" drives whereas Apple uses m2 drives and I think they use nvme? Might be wrong on the last bit. But point being m2 nvme drives cost roughly what they charge...

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/512...c-nand-read-2150mb-s-write-1550mb-s-300k-iops

£190 for 512gb m2 nvme drive

You are right, but those are not the same kind of ssds used in the rMBPs.

We're talking about the original uni-body Macbook, not the rMBPs

Nope, they don't use M.2 in the Macbook Pro, they use SATA drives. Straight from Apples website:

Sure is disappointing :/

25 more days guys, 25 more days. Yeah 25 more days until wwdc software updates and no hardware anywhere to be seen.
On god no. Don't say that. Please let there be a upgrade. I'll probably drop whatever I'm holding at the time (most likely my current MacBook Pro) and 'walk' to the Apple Store.
The Apple Genius at the register knows me and what I'm asking for when I say:
"shut up, and take my money!"

Actually its even worse:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-I...UTF8&qid=1463618074&sr=1-1&keywords=500gb+ssd

$158 for a 500GB 850 Evo off Amazon. You'd have to be ridiculously ignorant or nuts to get it directly from Apple.

Hopes are not lost. I have been working to something new in the last 3 days, god i hope apple is thinking hard to release this product/service in the next 1-3 years. I think this is more important and a more mainstream device than apple car.
