Sorry guys, but it's almost definitely referring to the calendar quarter, not the fiscal quarter. The reason I say that, is because he also leaked that the 13" rMB will be releasing in Q3. We won't be getting a rMBP at WWDC. I know ya'll are trying to twist the leak to your narrative, but if Kuo is right, there's 0 chance of a new Pro at WWDC.
He doesn't mention anything about Q3, and clearly states 2 MBP models will be released in 16Q4 and all his previous rumors have always been referring to Apple's fiscal calendar...

Does 13 Macbook make any sense? There is already 12.

IDK where you're getting that info. The title of this article literally starts off with "New 13" MacBook to launch in Q3..."
http://appleinsider.com/articles/16...3-end-development-of-macbook-air-insider-says
Maybe try and read articles on this website...

"While long overlooked, the MacBook line is the brightest spot for Apple’s 2016 rollouts. This is particularly true of the two new MacBook Pro models, to be introduced in 4Q16,"

https://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/23/macbook-pro-2016-oled-display-touch-bar/

Also the link you posted is not a direct quote from Kuo, and the person who wrote the article says 3rd quarter of 2016 (referring to calendar year)...

13" rMB announced and released fiscal Q3 at WWDC.
rMBP models announced at WWDC, release fiscal Q4 around July.

What's the problem?

That's definitely possible based off the rumors. Again, assuming if they're correct, we definitely won't be getting a new Pro at WWDC, but we may at least get confirmation they exist.

Ah, interesting, you're right. I wonder if it actually said Q3 in the info he gave them. I don't see any reason they'd report that if he said something else.

This.
Again, I seriously doubt Apple would miss the opportunity to present a breakthrough new product at WWDC.
There is no other big occasion, and they can't do it through a simply press release.
Presenting the new MBP in september/october would mean drop of many, many customers, in particular students.
Instead, as PKBeam say, Apple can announce it at WWDC, and release it in July (Q4).
Problem solved.

Anyway by now there are just few weeks left.
At WWDC we'll know the truth...

If you read the article from the link you posted, he told them 4Q16 too, but they put Q3 in the title (referring to calendar year). I have followed Kuo quite a bit, and whenever he gives notes on Apple products, he is always referring to Apple's fiscal quarters (like I posted proof a couple pages ago, he is a securities analyst after all).

All signs point to the MBP being unveiled at WWDC, and shipments starting in early July.

Not trying to be an ass, but where do you see that? There are only 2 mentions of quarters in that link that I see. One in the title (Q3) and one in the heading (third quarter).

Third paragraph:
"The analyst earlier today predicted big changes for Apple's MacBook Pro lineup. Of note, the new Pro models are thought to integrate Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology, an OLED touch bar, USB-C, Thunderbolt 3 and more, all crammed into a slimmed-down aluminum chassis. Kuo pegs a fourth quarter launch date for the refreshed MacBook Pros."

Current OSX beta have no information about new laptops and hardware because it will be introduced after WWDC. I mean they almost always open macOS new version beta right after the show and there we will see mentions and more specifics. But anyway we will see laptop before, during the show.

So hardware will be updated before the release. And the release will be at the same time as iOS 10. (September/ earlier October period)

When are we expecting the next version of MacOS? That's when the new MacBook Pros will most likely be released with OS support for things like Touch ID. Fiscal Q4 definitely makes sense.

True... You can't release a new Macbook that has new features requiring software support without the new Mac os version being out yet so I do think it may be later on... Maybe September?

If they really introduce new Hardware (touch id and this strange oled based stuff above the keyboard) you can be 100% sure it will be delivered with the new macOS and not with 10.11.6 or 10.11.7.

WWDC is literally the event they have every year that showcases the new OS for Mac and iPhones to developers. Hence since this year has the new "siri" integration, it makes sense to unveil the MBP's along with the new software.

Yes you can. They just give the refreshed hardware a custom version of the OS. The retina Macbook Pro launched with a custom version of Lion

No you can't. The rMBP launched with Lion.

And ML was the first OS to support Retina screens? Sorry been a while. I bought my early 2013 rMBP with ML.

OLED touch bar? way too gimmicky for a professional tool.. once more they are deviating from the main idea.
Anyway.. apple better release the new rMBP before September.. otherwise i'm f**cked.

I think it will be darn cool if the keys actually had logos or text saying what the function keys do instead of just F1 through F12 with the default functionality above like it does presently. And it could switch on the fly when you press command, option, shift, etc. Sounds good to me!

Technically Lion was, because of the rMBP. But it was designed specifically for the MBP and released as 10.7.4 (which was only for the rMBP at the time), at least I think.

EDIT: Here it is: https://www.macrumors.com/2012/06/18/apple-preparing-to-seed-developer-builds-of-os-x-10-7-5/

The new Retina MacBook Pro is currently shipping with a special build of OS X 10.7.4 to include Retina-capable versions of core OS X apps, although Retina capabilities have been showing with increasing visibility throughout the various versions of OS X Lion and now developer builds of OS X Mountain Lion. It is unknown whether these new machines will receive a special build of OS X 10.7.5 or if Apple will incorporate the new Retina display capabilities into a single OS X 10.7.5 build available for all Macs even if they do not support ultra-high resolutions.

Right, he's referring to to Pros there. I was talking about the MacBooks, as is the article.
