Is it possible they are taking so long in releasing rMBP because of the 7th gen?

Again, one can dream...

I'd just be happy to see 6th gen at WWDC...I do sometimes wonder how other companies products affect development...do they scurry back to the drawing board to test out 'a Mac version' with each new feature?

Someone previously mentioned producing a 'classic' MacBook Pro for the anniversary..that would be great.

:)

Just because something is 0.1mm thinner doesn't make it a better Laptop.
Just because something is 0.1mm thinner doesn't mean it is more innovative either.

It basically means that other companies finally got their stuff together and are catching up and are moving away form these horrible plastic laptops weighting in 2 kilos with crappy fan designs make more noise than necessary.

Now they just need to find a way to run MacOS and I might actually consider what they have on their plates.

That i kind of love at Apple, their specs are almost equivalent in real life too...like dimensions, battery life, performance, weight etc, others...not
[doublepost=1464598230][/doublepost]like i said friday i had spectre and macbook laid down on the desk and the spectre was thicker...they didn't count the rubber

...you do realise that this apply for Apple, too?
Also, I don't want to defend Asus, because I prefer OSX and I want a Pro laptop, not an ultra-portable.
Still, the new Zenbook in some ways is more innovative and better than Apple rival:

somebody love to take for granted what they say in press than test it in real life
[doublepost=1464598880][/doublepost]the keyboard for that zenbook is low travel like a macbook lets say but its very cheap, it has bleed all over in the dark, and the key are not so sturdy like on the macbook

Seriously. I've had 200 ***** pages of people bitching at apple for prioritizing thinness over all else, and now when a competitor releases a supposedly thinner product, everyone's yelling at how un-innovative Apple's products are :/

choose a side guys. please. for my sanity.

and the screen like spectre not on par with macbook, so more pixel that a little affect the performance but like usually Apple makes the best compromises . someone who take an ultra thin laptop it buy it for low medium work, but a beautiful screen you want it in every product now days
[doublepost=1464599053][/doublepost]i can talk about zenbook because is official out
[doublepost=1464599277][/doublepost]the all plastic board that sustain the zenbook keyboard is goes down when you press a little bit harder the keys..i didnt like that a lot, the speakers at over 80% has distortional sound

I don't mind thinnes - i am simply saying that just because someones else laptop is now also very thin or even 0,1 mm thinner doesn't mean Apple has some catching up to do.

Surely Apple will not disappoint and deliver something very thin. But for me the overall picture is what counts, not some artificial benchmarks on a press conference which no one can verify.

Also Kudos to Asus, HP and Dell for stepping up their game and forcing Apple to deliver something outstanding and not just give us the usual spec bump with 0.1 Ghz more :)

Its a trade off though isn't it...you can buy the mac with slightly better hardware/build and hope it lasts five years for the premium...or you can buy the windows machine for around £1k less and hope it lasts 2-3years...

Pro's and con's to both approaches.
The OS is the biggest factor (still) for most people.

kind of right but in real world no. based on the test, and research, nobody want an ultrabook for heavy usage, so an i7 has its compromises for nothing...you better have a beautiful screen than an extra power that you cant use it because you dont buy an ultra thin laptop like i said for heavy load.
the speakers, like spectre if you turn more than 80% the chassis resonate with the speaker and create a distortional sound...very annoying in normal and quite spaces/rooms/environments

i7 for an ultraslim laptop? for what? you buy this for heavy load? yes 1T is nice, that the pro of zenbook 3 against macbook

I'm not a huge fan of Asus gear (except their mobs, I rock asus and gigabyte mobo) but that TB3 is nice, Apple should've had it in the Macbook. If space is the problem, increase the thickness from 3 stacked playing cards to 4 stacked playing cards.

Yep, there's compromise with i7 in thinner devices...which is why I'm not so keen on the big push for thinness at the top end of mac.

Re: audio quality/speakers: TBH, in laptops, it doesn't concern me so much in my workflow. If I'm onsite in an office, I'll be using headphones anyhow..if at home I'll be plugged into an external audio card hooked up to some powered speakers...guess if you want to consume media on the go then it would bother you, but then you could get yourself an i-pad or something...
