Yep, there's compromise with i7 in thinner devices...which is why I'm not so keen on the big push for thinness at the top end of mac.

Re: audio quality/speakers: TBH it doesn't concern me so much in my workflow. If I'm onsite in an office, I'll be using headphones anyhow..if at home I'll be plugged into an external audio card hooked up to some powered speakers...guess if you want to consume media on the go then it would bother you, but then you could get yourself an i-pad or something...
doesn't matter, if you put a speaker into your product make sure it is a good quality right ? dont make huge compromises, or cheap ones
[doublepost=1464600438][/doublepost]
someone around here said we would have space grey MBP I think, can't remember who.
doesnt matter, maybe a troll right?

What? no, I wasn't being sarcastic, I looked and it was back on page 434:

something to cheer you up
or not
(my advice: don't take it seriously, just wait for apple press)

a message was posted on a Chinese MBP forum 25 hours ago,
the original poster claims that MBP will be updated in WWDC 2016.
- new design
- update cpu&gpu
- more colors (black, gold, rose gold)

however, the OP refuses to identify the source, but claims it's reliable.

if you read chinese, have a look at

Although the black/space grey color option had been allegedly mentioned before but I hadn't seen it.

I want to believe and be excited but i'll wait for others to do so before I jump in, gotta look cool for the cameras

Look at what I just stumbled upon on Twitter:

He's from Technobuffalo, I can't recall them having big scoops, but I generally do find the guy trustworthy.

Attaching the pic so ppl don't have to click-thru but let me know if you want me to remove

No this is not Space Gray, its black
Yeah, I know this could just be a colorwared rMB, but what if... It fits as a new rMBP with color options and the butterfly-keyboard.
Jon Rettinger gives no information on how he got this picture, could be just troll. But, i would LOVE a black option, and some images of the upcoming rMBP.
(sry for repost, wasnt there when i started typing,,)

Life is compromise...even at apple.

A laptop speaker isn't 'good quality' compared to an external rig.
So it's all relative...You weigh up the 'higher quality' components against the price in a windows machine...that's the initial point...

...still, would you say the new rMBP speakers are leaders in their class?

it's me, or it looks exactly as the rMB's keyboard?
i mean, it looks EXACTLY like that, the space between the keyboard and the trackpad, the "full size" arrow key, the trackpad ends exactly where the rMB trackpad ends.

yes they are, i mean the new one. For now the quality in mac (so for now 30 May ok?) the order is:
From worse to best: 11" Mba 13" Mba 13" MBP 12 Mb but very close to 15" MBP
The new one will be even better

the trackpad ends exactly where the rMB trackpad ends.
little hint: the retina Macbook has pure black keys...these are.. :)
and regarding for the space etc, remember Apple will not reveal just 1 size mac

KGI SECURITIES
seems accurate on what apple will launc, but no so accurate on WHEN.

I would hardly say they get most things 'wrong' when in that huge list they only got for things wrong with the timing, it shows the complete opposite and shows KGI are usually right with their predictions and timings.

I thought it was because when computers are thrown into landfills you now are going to have it leak out. I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong will it until this point. In reality if everyone just properly disposed of their computers it shouldn't be a problem. Hell I would sign a waiver saying that if I don't sell my computer to someone I would have to dispose of it properly if it meant I could have lead solder.

They don't use lead on the solder because its poisonous when people use it in factories etc and because the waste from manufacturing is environmentally damaging so far as I know. Not just because of computers in landfill sites.

Everyone seems to be very vague and sketchy about whats new, we must be missing something...

I'll say the font looks slightly thicker than the one on the rMB from photos online.

I'll go crazy and throw my hat into the ring and say...the text on the keycaps are from OLEDs and not physical text on the keycap.

somebody love to take for granted what they say in press than test it in real life

Yeah, but we can say almost the same thing of Apple test.
It's true that usually they're more reliable, but still they made by themselves.
So why can't we trust those from Asus?
Come on, let's admit that Asus is doing a quite good competition to Apple.
The new Zen is faster than MB.

I don't mind thinnes - i am simply saying that just because someones else laptop is now also very thin or even 0,1 mm thinner doesn't mean Apple has some catching up to do.

Surely Apple will not disappoint and deliver something very thin. But for me the overall picture is what counts, not some artificial benchmarks on a press conference which no one can verify.

Also Kudos to Asus, HP and Dell for stepping up their game and forcing Apple to deliver something outstanding and not just give us the usual spec bump with 0.1 Ghz more :)

Yeah but the catching is more into power, than in thinness.
If Asus has made a thinner yet more powerful laptop than Apple, they will be forced to do better.
That's just it, the competition. It's one of the mainstays of our economic system.
:)

The Asus is a very interesting computer because it is using the brand spanning new Intel Core M5! And that makes it a lot faster then the MacBook Air or MacBook. Not sure why Apple didn't wait for this chip and put it in the MacBook?

While reading through the latest rumours (and yeah I wish that pic of a black rMBP is legit) I was thinking of something "revolutionary" and wanted to have your guys' input. Imagine, in a world of mobile professionals, a rMBP with TWO TB3 ports and the ability to DAISY-CHAIN several Macbook Pros together to create a powerful "compute cluster". I just imagine a handful of young start-up artists doing a render project or some huge thing on Final Cut or Premiere, to finish it on-site and be quicker 3 Macbook Pro's are connected in a "ring-fashion" via the TB3 ports and the 2 "client" Macbook Pros donate a fixed percentage of their compute power of CPU and GPU (maybe you can even choose everything from 20% to 80%) to the "receiving" laptop. I could imagine this to be possible in a similar way an eGPU works, only with RAM/CPU added to the mix via TB3 and I also think as there are a lot of "on-site" Professionals out there, this would be really benefitial in small teams.

Thoughts?

:) this product is not for me anyway. I'm a 15 inch consumer. But at least we can see what kind of improvements are possible for RMB12 today. I mean we will see similar new RMB12 next march. Of course earlier if it will become a trend

at least it looks solid (also one USB-C)

Wow this just looks like a KIRF rMB. It has:
  • the same edge to edge keyboard with large buttons
  • smaller function keys
  • large left and right arrow keys
  • a power key on the keyboard
  • speaker above the keyboard
  • same color scheme, black display and gold body
  • the ZenBook logo below the display
  • a glass trackpad
  • only 1 USB-C and a 3.5mm jack
  • same tapered design dimensions
  • same rubber feet and screws at the bottom
  • that lid opening below the trackpad
Did I forget anything?

why does the ZenBook 3 look so similar to the rMB?
were it not running windows and that keyboard font/colour, i might even confuse the two... especially from a distance.
