So you want them to say "next macbook pro, Spring 2016, enjoy the next 6-8 of waiting!!!"

Apple should hire you

I'm wondering if they didn't do the same as they did with apple tv because the product isn't close to release at all. Saying that could actually increase current sales if anything as people won't want to wait it out so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

It is only GT2 GPU Intel HD 530. And the results are extraordinary. 24 core version of Skylake iGPU has more power than 48 core iGPU from Broadwell. Compare it to HD6100 from 13 inch Macbook Pro.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Iris-Graphics-6100.125591.0.html
3dMark FireStrike and Cinebench OpenGL scores.
3dMark: 1202 vs 1020 Graphics score(Intel 530 vs HD6100)
OpenGL score: 41.4 vs 34 FPS(Intel 530 vs HD6100).
And remember: one test is GPU bound the second is CPU bound, I admit, but shows how fast can be 530 with just half the amount of cores.

And we have to remember that GT3e has 48 cores, and eDRAM, and GT4e Intel 580 has 72 cores and eDRAM. Im really curious of th real world results for those GPUs.

What does this mean haha? :)

Not exactly. Intel 530 is extremely close in performance to GT650M from 2012 MBP. GT650M gets 1450 its in 3dMark FireStrike graphics score, whereas Intel 530 gets 1200 its in the same test. that is around 20% difference, and its not even a midrange GPU. Its low end GPU. I am pretty certain that GT3e will be slightly faster than M370X from current Macbook Pro 15 inch, and that GT4e Intel 580 will be around GTX 850-860M in terms of performance. One hell of a leap.

The Intel HD 530 (GT2) have been tested with a Core i7-6700K, which is a lot more powerful than the Core i5-5257U used for the Iris 6100 test. The big performance leap comes from this, mainly.

Not really ;). Graphics score on 3dMark Firestrike is based on performance of the GPU without the CPU capabilities. Overall score adds to it the physics and CPU scores, also.

Like I've said, the GPU scores are unaffected by CPU and mostly, in the case of iGPUs are affected by amount of VRAM(or lack of it...) drivers, and the performance of system RAM and the core clock of the GPU. But that is only for this test. I admit, the scores may vary between the systems.

big difference between a product coming out in a 1 month then 6-8 months

The iPad Pro being announced 2 months ahead is also different because it's a brand new product to the iPad line

It's a long shot but: Could a Broadwell 15" still be in the works... According to Intel the chips (5750,5850 and 5950 are launched! These have the Iris Pro 6200). Considering some other brands are releasing 5700HQ based laptops around now (MSI for starters).

A quiet upgrade on the 30th september accompanied with the release of 10.11 El Capitan could be possible... I'm not counting on it though haha. But this would bring the 15" back as "cutting edge" and give Apple some more time for a Sky Lake redesign and release.

It's not impossible but would it be worth it?

Yes but they already refreshed the 15 with force feed back trackpad and faster SSD. So this would simply be a processor bump. If it was simply a drop in replacement then I guess it could happen, especially if the Skylake models are a long way off.

I'm not a technician but all that would change is the socket and a bit of wiring around that. The rest should stay morecor less the same. As far as I know Apple hasn't skipped a generation (starting at sandy bridge all the way up to the haswell.

You could argue that only the 15" didn't get the Broadwell bump while others did, so technically they haven't skipped it.

This is wishful thinking, Apple release the new 15 RMBP in May 19 and early June (June 2nd I think) Broadwell launched. Apple could have waited but it didn't. So I'm guessing there would not be another update for the Macbook this year.

I think, their new concept is for colors again, also USB-C, Skylake, thin bodies, batteries like in rMB 12".. all of that stuff can cause new design. R&D department have to have at least half a year to design all that stuff, to find suitable components, manufacturers (as it was with their unique SSD plates) and so on. So probably with their new IPad pro, ipencil+keyboard, appletv, iphone 7 maybe they dont spend enough resources to boost their engineering process and to present new macbook pro's bodies now.
There are no leaks. There is no inside info about macs. Because at least they have to redesign 2 bodies.

So they could update chips only soon(when there are will be ready) or present new design later. From the point of Apple's view.. they have enough time for both

Mockups based on the die size and connector pin schematics could be "rendered" digital.

*the source* says, contrary to the press™ and gruber, that there will be an october event because the ipad pro needs more of an introduction pre-sale and the 21" 4k imac is in production and will likely be revealed. also, that'll be the day the skylake mbp will be released. beware: i've asked specifically about the 15" model and he responded that way. so my estimate is: this might mean apple already has skylake-h + iris pro chips, they don't and will use the chips with the hd 530 or they'll only update the 13" model and announce an updated 15" model for "later this year".

More iPad Pro and 4K iMac is realistic as per longstanding rumors.

But you're reaching for the stars on the latter half. I'd personally prefer you don't make claims without a shred of evidence.

i don't. skylake macbooks will most likely be revealed in oct. they have the hardware ready as per *the source*. the question is: with what specs and when will sales begin.

Oooooooooohhhh. Don't you dare... Don't you dare butter me up!

Personally I don't know what to think of this. The iPad Pro needing more of an introduction doesn't make sense to me at all but whatever, I couldn't care less about the iPad Pro. Mark Gurman's sources said that there wouldn't be an October event.
He tends to be right.

We'll just have to wait and see which one of you is right. (I hope it's you;):)).

I was thinking few days ago, that sneak peak for iPad Pro was good, but it needs its own introduction. But I would not count on October even, more likely - November. Thats where everything would be announced with availability "today" on the event. Everything - iPad Pro, Macbook Pro, iMac 4K, Mac Pro.
