The front page is not helping our cause...
DisplayPort 1.3 has increased bandwidth, but Skylake-based Macs with Thunderbolt 3 will not support the spec and Intel's next-generation Kaby Lake processors on track for a late 2016 launch will not as well. Apple could opt to release a 4K Thunderbolt Display instead, but supply chain considerations make this unlikely, so the company's exact plans for the future of its standalone display remain to be seen.
They should be able too. And once rMB gets tb3 it should be able to as wellFrom the front page :
What ??
I thought skylake MBPs (if ever released) would for sure be able to drive 5k diplays on a single TB3/USBC connection, not the case ?

You know what supports it? Polaris dGPUs....but dGPUs are TOTALLY unnecessary.
welp. no MBP at wwdc semi-confirmed?
i'm gonna go cry in the corner now.

Unless you're a true gamer that plays AAA titles.
TLDR; Shut up, and Apple will do what Apple wants!
- #3 Stop arguing about dGPUs. Apple have allways made their PRO models for PRO users, and the Iris Pro in FinalCut will still make shorter renders than Adobe on any windows machine. If Apple wants to leave dGPU, there is still no point leaving Apple if you claim you're a "PRO" user.
There are far more uses for dGPU beyond gaming. That's another cliche that must die.Unless you're a true gamer that plays AAA titles.
This thread is incredibly hard to keep up with all of the time. I wake up every day and there is always six more pages!

... watch band designer?I'm not going to tell you which "PRO" group I fall into though, as I don't want to draw your ire.

I liked your old Avatar better. But your posts are still good. The Kaby Lake Chips releasing in 2016 will not be suitable for a Macbook Pro. Intel does not just release every variant of a processor family all at once. Skylake chips started coming out last year, but suitable chips for Macbook Pro have only been available for a few weeks. It is extremely likely that the same will happen with Kaby Lake.
