Perhaps it's integrated into the trackpad. Apple is said to be working on tech that will allow them to do this with the iPhone and it's display, thereby removing the home button. They might have the tech ready and have decided to put it in a lower volume product to see how well it works for consumers before they put it into the flagship product.
i really hope so

I fear your situation will eventually become mine - I've been saving for the 2016 MacBook Pro for so long, and while I've always intended to buy it in July 2016, it seems like that won't happen, so I'll just collect more money and get more and more frustrated...

Did your 2009 MBP survive into 2016?
This will keep happening until someone provides some proper competition to Apple. I'd dearly love to see a serious competitor undercut them with a superior product and watch their Mac user base disappear. This company's arrogance needs a reality check. It's coming, one day.

Guys that Macbook Pro on the Cult of Mac is seriously thin. Its as thin as the thickest part of the rMB. Thats gonna be a seriously light and thin Macbook Pro

Hmmmmmmm 4 USB C ports, so tons of adapters then, not one single USB3 port, plus no MagSafe. I would need to consider buying one of these then.

damn, i need a usb-c to FW400 adapter too.
plot twist: no usb-c but 4 lightning ports instead

What an immature comment. Stop with these comments because you sound like a troll. He had a valid points for usb-a. I don't have a problems with usb-c however if there is not even one sub-a port I will not be happy because I will need stupid adapter in order to use my u2f key which I use for 2fa with any service I can out there. But I'm an infosec pro so what does it matter, heh? In case you don't know why it is https://www.yubico.com/products/yubikey-hardware/yubikey4/

I reckon that leaked chassis it fake. It doesn't fit with the KGI report which said the new rMBP would be significantly thinner than the current model (think Digitimes also reported this earlier in the year) and take design cues from the 12" Macbook. From those pictures it looks almost identical to the current model in size and shape.

Wow! I want a Yubikey 4 Nano now!!!!!!

are you joking?
almost since the introduction of the retina macbook pros apple has always had a discrete gpu model and an integrated gpu model, and all of them always looked the same outside.
they probably design everything around the more powerful configuration.
Read my post again, that's exactly what I'm saying!

Maybe Ming and KCI is wrong...gasp!

I agree about cutting edge gaming but there are people who just want one computer that can play casual games as well as perform the other tasks expected of it. I don't think that's unreasonable for a £2000 machine.

I think it is unreasonable. It's like a Ferrari F50 owner complaining that his car won't work off-road after how much he spent on it, or like an owner of an expensive Patek Philippe 'Grand complications' watch complaining that it isn't waterproof to 100 metres. It just wasn't designed to do that. The fact that it cost a lot is irrelevant.

Adding a dGPU will bump the price up a few hundred dollars, which will reduce sales among all the people who don't want the extra performance (or extra heat, or extra size, or extra weight, or reliability problems). Apple needs to balance the sales lost due to not including dGPU versus sales lost if they include it. They must strike the same balance with all of the components. They are NOT trying to make a laptop which is best in all categories. That is simply impossible, as several categories are in direct conflict with each other.

I'm hoping that this leak means that it's going into production sooner rather than later... so a WWDC announcement and release within a couple of months. Possibly too optimistic but the thought of an October release is too depressing.

I would also, BUT, those will still run Microsoft, and I really like the MAC OS. I left Microsoft for a reason

there's no banana fo scale to say how thin or thick this chassis, but remember that the display lid and the bottom case are still missing.
so it could be even thinner than the current model.
design cues from the 12" well, only usb-c ports and wider touchpad...and again, the display is still missing.

Those who want no dGPU option believe the MBP as a whole would be better designed if the option is removed completely.

That's exactly right. If Apple designed different bodies for the two variants, then everyone would be happy, but I really doubt they would ever do that.
