USB-C dongles and all are fine, except:

1. With 2 ports per side, if you're using an external monitor, you are pretty much forced to buy a dongle if you don't want cables sticking out of the laptop from both sides. You don't want this happening if you're using a laptop stand next to an external monitor because the cables would block the screen.
2. Most importantly, current Apple dongle only supports power+HDMI (incapable of 4k@60 Hz, so half-assed) or power+D-SUB. So there's no option to drive 4K while also charging. One solution I can think of is to use one USB-C port for display (via an adapter to mini-DP or HDMI 2.0), and the USB-C port for the charge/display/USB-A dongle, hooked up to charger & USB-A hub. So complicated and overpriced for what we can already do on current generation rMBP without any external accessories.
3. They are overpriced as **** currently; time will fix this, probably by when the 2016 rMBP becomes obsolete. Currently, if you use your laptop in more than one location, you need to buy multiple overpriced dongles, and that's like $160+.

If they're going all USB-C, I'd hope they at least put 3 ports per side or leave some display ports for the 15" rMBP...

Don't get me wrong, I like them moving to USB-C. What I'm criticizing is the unnecessary inconvenience brought about by removing ALL other ports (mini-DP, HDMI, power, etc).

Prepare yourself for multi-multi quote.

Yes they did.

But to clarify: I don't trust it.
WWDC seems plausible in every possible sense.
No way MBP announced in october.

Thanks mate, I never saw that 'post' by the writer, would be nice if the facts could have been entered into the story originally
Hmmmm well I won't wait, I'll grab me an iPad Pro instead next month haha as I've wanted one of those too.

EDIT::

What about the horrible scenario then that they update the Mac Pro and Apple display at WWDC ONLY!

Are you guys sure that Apple is having their main event on the 13th? I just checked the roundup and it mentions siri referencing to events between 13th and the 17th. So what exactly points towards a 13th of june main event? Just want to know what date to look forward to, as the 13th has been dropped most frequently as a date. Apart form that, do you guys think that the leaks point to a WWDC release or as the front page article says Q4? Man that would suck balls. I need a new machine, as many of us seem to do.

The keynote is always on the first day, the other events are for developers, e.g. presentations on new APIs, optimising apps for new software/hardware, special speakers, etc.

Well I'm sad for no SD and not even one USB-A. But it was expectable. Hope to see an adapter with USB-A, HDMI and SD card reader.

What I'm sad about tho is the lack of MagSafe... Is it really that thick that it couldn't be included? :(
I was also hoping for 1 usbA port to remain. But oh well.

Hmmmmmmm 4 USB C ports, so tons of adapters then, not one single USB3 port, plus no MagSafe. I would need to consider buying one of these then.
You mean usbA

Guys that Macbook Pro on the Cult of Mac is seriously thin. Its as thin as the thickest part of the rMB. Thats gonna be a seriously light and thin Macbook Pro
How do you know it is as thin as the thickest part of the rMB?? Can you or someone confirm this ?

I'm saying, a unified design would need to be bigger to have space for double the cooling. CPU=45W, CPU and GPU=95W

95w GPU?? What?

95w GPU?? What?

Apple's new A100000X chip and new ultra compact terraced battery technology allows 20 hours of battery life with 140W CPU and GPU

It's hard to tell without the bottom case present, but the top case looks to be about as thick as the thickest part of the rMB, which isn't exactly a fatty. How thin do you think they can make it with any ports at all?

Looks similar to the current model to me. Definitely thicker that the Macbook. We'll see.

OH I GET IT!
The top right corner is of the touch bar, where you would find the power button is where Touch ID is. ****! Thats ingenious, every time you hit the power button, you unlock the computer as well - cause TOUCH ID is built into it.

**** IM SO HAPP!Y

I am just as excited as you man, just as excited and only 12 more days of waiting.

12 days are killing me man, now more than ever knowing theres going to be something to see.

And there had better be something to see, I may cryogenically freeze myself until then.

I'm guessing because the right side has a headphone port (which is ironic as they're getting ready of the headphone port on the iPhone, but still deem it 'worthy' enough to keep on laptops?) they wanted to keep the left ports aligned similarly. Which is a plus in my book as I don't like the way they're not aligned on the current rMBP. I've had my laptop for four years and still inevitably plug in a USB cable into the HDMI port.
It looks weird with such a huge space though.

Or a set of dots for a iPad Pro style smart connector pocketless MagSafe.

The one other thing about that port is that it's also an optical port, so perhaps worth keeping? Honestly I've never used an optical cable with my MBPs, dunno if others do — figure most people trying to get pro audio out of their machines are using another port.

Still surprised they just didn't expect everyone to use TB3 adapters.
