Thanks for the answers about the keynote date guys!
Thanks mate, I never saw that 'post' by the writer, would be nice if the facts could have been entered into the story originally
Hmmmm well I won't wait, I'll grab me an iPad Pro instead next month haha as I've wanted one of those too.

EDIT::

What about the horrible scenario then that they update the Mac Pro and Apple display at WWDC ONLY!

I have had an iPad Pro 128gb since release (Nov '15). It is a great device, I thoroughly enjoy it. However, a big big big but is the way it charges. Once you have gotten it down to about 5% and plug it in (even through the iPad transformer aka charger) you won't be able to increase that percentage under heavy use and it might even drop depending on what apps you are using. I guess it will do this at any percentage, but it is most noticeable at low charges as you start wondering what the hell to do about it. This is one of its biggest downsides as any Apple laptop in comparison, easily charges up. How can Apple expect a device with this kind of charging behaviour to replace a laptop?

It really can't and I hope that it never truly will.

I think if you look at the space above the headphone jack and below, like wise for the USB C...its comparable to that of the rMacBook. So I do have a feeling that its probably as thick as the thickest point on the rMB.

I see, and you are right. It looks about the same thickness as the thickest point of the rMB.

This is great. It will be thinner than the MacBook Air.

OH I GET IT!
The top right corner is of the touch bar, where you would find the power button is where Touch ID is. ****! Thats ingenious, every time you hit the power button, you unlock the computer as well - cause TOUCH ID is built into it.

**** IM SO HAPP!Y

the leaker is the person that drill holes in the chassis, but not all the holes, only usb-c holes. And that's why sd slot, hdmi and MagSafe are still missing

yeah that is a great idea. the two usbc ports on the left side look weird. there is definitely space for a MagSafe connector.

Very good point, though I am not optimistic about sd card and Hdmi. It does look like there is a port missing over there.

Though I thought all the holes are drilled by machines.

If it was MagSafe, wouldn't it have been machined already?

I think the Smart Connector is more likely, but again, wouldn't the three dots already be there? Does the iPad Pro use a magnet in the Smart Connector?

EDIT: it does use a magnet.

EDIT 2: here's some speculation about its capabilities http://fortune.com/2016/04/26/logi-base-ipad-pro-charging-dock/

On the topic of the Apple Q2 earnings call and using it to divine info on future macbook refreshes:
Exactly. I said the same thing. Here's the exact quote (talking about Q3):

We expect seasonal sequential declines in iPhone and iPad sales, and a sequential increase in Mac sales.

but given that he said 'seasonal' could it just simply mean the start of their back to school promotions and the back to school season?

Not to be pessimistic, but I think ssong's explanation fits better with this quote, which I believe tells us nothing specifically about an upcoming refresh. If you read further into the transcript...
We expect seasonal sequential declines in iPhone and iPad sales, and a sequential increase in Mac sales.
...
And third, different estimates for Mac, which we expect to grow sequentially at a rate similar to what we experienced in the past June quarters.

Hey guys, i know all of you are excited of the new case leak but I have a question about my current rMBP. Its a late 2013 model bought in august 2014. I never bought apple care and my 1 year warranty expired a while ago. 2 weeks ago, I took it to apple to fix the staingate. But for the past 4 months, I have been having spontaneous shutdowns (shutdowns for no reason, happens with handbrake (100% cpu) or just viewing pdfs (no cpu))

Video proof>
.

I took it to apple about this problem (last week) and I was able to replicated the exact issue infront of a genius working there. Real nice guy but he said something about me paying for the repair. Anyway he send it off to apple and two days later I get it back. According to apple, the wifi card was "broken unit" (but it always worked no problems) and they replaced it for free. I also got this "90 day warranty for any future problems Apple Care" with my computer. However, that repair did not do anything to fix my problem. I continue to have the shutdown problems. Since I dont have a warranty/applecare, do you think if i could show them the problem a couple more times, they might give me a replacement? Is it possible I could get the new 2016 model (that is if the new mbps are released at WWDC)? What do you guys think?

That space on the left side of the leaked rMBP is way too much to be just left empty. Im sure they've yet to mill out the ports for the Smart Connector.

I agree, otherwise the USB-C ports would be closer to the end of the machine, I'd think. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking. Would they be able to get in 45W of power for the 15" MBP?

I know that @Serban is quite controversial here, with many skeptics, including those who are downright rude. I think we can judge for ourselves the relative veracity of Serban's statements. We're all grownups (well most of us at least?:p), and most of us who take him seriously still take his info with a hefty grain of salt.

However, I went through Serban's posts, and I think that they are logically consistent, for what its worth, together with this purported leak. He describes 1 of the 3 prototypes as more radical than the others, which lacked USB-A and lacked magsafe. He said that the oled-touchpad prototype mentioned by Kuo was indeed the most radical one he mentioned, which he actually didn't like best. The currently leaked images (if real) had the space for the OLED strip, but also the lack of legacy ports and lack of magsafe that is totally consistent with his previous posts. Could be chance (if you throw a lot of stuff against the wall, some of it will stick), or he could be onto something. He also mentioned that the radical one had the most radical screen as well...o_O?

the most relevant quotes below:
will they use the MB keyboard on the new rmbp ? hope no !

yes and no

i said 6 hours of battery life, but i didn't say in what conditions, so keep in mind that.
for those who asking about the dimensions and the screen, its hard to say because 1 from the 3 designs its so radical vs the other 2. so keep in mind this as well

1 of 3 is based on something similar to the magsafe idea but with some new technology
1 of 3 still has magsafe
1 of 3 don't have but i dont think this will come to life, its too radical and i think can affect sales but this is my humble opinion

TheralSadurns: If Kuo is to be believed do you happen to know which of the 3 prototypes that is?! Is it the most radical or the more conservative one?!
yes the most radical from the 3.But it exist

its the same mechanism but not the same low travel but it is even more reliable keyboard

This thread is now long enough that I've ceased caring about older ports. o_O And I carry around a mini-DP to VGA adapter for old projectors at work as well as the RJ45 adapter! At home the same rMBP grows extra limbs while using a USB keyboard, HDMI, and MagSafe, which looks rather lousy and makes for awkward desk arrangement.

Yep, I'll have to shell out some money for Amazon Basics or Monoprice cables/adapters. Pick up a couple of USB-C drives for next to nothing on Black Friday. Be appalled at the prices Best Buy charges for the same cables, but the feeling will pass. (ok, not really - I hate that big stores rip off folks who don't know any better)

Alas I'm old enough to remember buying a Centronics extender cable and being able to move a dot-matrix printer across the room, and it was wondrous. Change is difficult until something distracts us from it. If I can use TouchID on my laptop I'll gladly burn (recycle properly) my old USB cables as sacrifice.
