Yeah...he described back then that one was more radical than the others, without specifying. Then after kuo's research note people here attribute KUO's OLED touchbar rumor to serban, because it was the most "radical of them all". Hell, of course it could be attributed to serban, I mean every single "prediction" he made was so damn "open", in the sense that no matter what happens he could always be right, exactly like it's happening here. Jesus christ, people get a grip.

Btw, does someone want some of the snake oil I'm selling? It's organic, vegan, cures aids and cancer. Only available between June 13th and June 17th. -.-"

Almost forgot. Serban's (and anyone else without credentials or rep) info should not be taken with a grain of salt, it should be completely discarded without further thought. He pulled this once, and he's doing the same thing now. A little skepticism people, that's all it takes, please. What we have seen here is optimism that could be surely confused with lunacy.

Do you guys think that this OLED touch bar will be genuinely a useful addition, or something that is horribly gimmicky that will make us miss the physical function keys? I'm extremely curious and look forward to any speculation about it!

If all that it does is replace the function keys are we currently know them and use them, then it would seem extremely pointless. So there would have to be some other killer feature, right? Then again, 3D touch on the iPhone is kind of gimmicky, so you never know.

Going to be honest here - I think it's going to be a negative. I frequently increase/decrease brightness, volume, and play/pause my music. Unless this touchpad can pretty much mirror that of a physical touch, I only see it as being like pressing down on an iPad screen... Aka gimmicky. But prove me wrong, Apple.

I agree, otherwise the USB-C ports would be closer to the end of the machine, I'd think. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking. Would they be able to get in 45W of power for the 15" MBP?
This thing seems as thin as the thickest part of the rMB. I dont think 45 W is doable. But then again this is Apple.

Hey guys, i know all of you are excited of the new case leak but I have a question about my current rMBP. Its a late 2013 model bought in august 2014. I never bought apple care and my 1 year warranty expired a while ago. 2 weeks ago, I took it to apple to fix the staingate. But for the past 4 months, I have been having spontaneous shutdowns (shutdowns for no reason, happens with handbrake (100% cpu) or just viewing pdfs (no cpu))

Video proof>
.

I took it to apple about this problem (last week) and I was able to replicated the exact issue infront of a genius working there. Real nice guy but he said something about me paying for the repair. Anyway he send it off to apple and two days later I get it back. According to apple, the wifi card was "broken unit" (but it always worked no problems) and they replaced it for free. I also got this "90 day warranty for any future problems Apple Care" with my computer. However, that repair did not do anything to fix my problem. I continue to have the shutdown problems. Since I dont have a warranty/applecare, do you think if i could show them the problem a couple more times, they might give me a replacement? Is it possible I could get the new 2016 model (that is if the new mbps are released at WWDC)? What do you guys think?

Are you able to replicate this problem in Safe Mode?
Have you tried reinstalling OS X?
Have you seen this problem after reinstalling OS X without any third party apps installed?/
Have you noticed this problem occurring around specific apps?

It would take 4 more times for them to correct this issue at least before consideration of any replacements. And even then, it's a stretch.

This is definitely one computer I will wait on other people around this forum and review sites before I purchase. Battery life, dGPU issues (Possibly) are just some of the few things I want to see if Apple fixed.

Havent tried safe mode

if i remember correctly, this started happening after i first reinstalled macOS (a few months ago, and ive reinstalled operating systems since windows xp including linux)

It shutdowns with just preview running and editing a simple 70 page pdf

preview and utorrent, just preview, just safari, handbrake. Ive had instances of it crashing both on power and off power. Most of the timer when battery levels under 30 percent.

What do you think of this? Cause of the problem? thanks for helping btw

Apple is a huge fan of pushing the components that they use to their thermal limits while we all burn ourselves, so I can see them squeezing the 45W processor in. What I meant, however, is if it's possible for the Smart Connector to feed the 45W that a 15" MBP processor uses at full load. If it was designed with iOS devices in mind, then maybe not?

Honestly, the function keys are the part of the keyboard that I use the most (it sounds like you are the same). At this point, I have all of the key positions memorized, so I can just turn up the volume without even looking. I am afraid that this OLED touch bar will put a damper on usability. Perhaps they will integrate a taptic engine so that when we press it will feel like it's a physical key?

Forgot the exact thread, but it was 30 pages long concerning mostly the 13" retina MacBook Pro's. Screen freezing, etc. I'd encourage you to check out that thread (Again, sorry, but I forgot what it was exactly called).

Apple I think released a new OS X to combat against this, but people were still reporting problems. In all honestly, I think it's just a software issue that Apple does not know the cause of.

However, you are better off making a thread about this instead of posting on a thread for the new MacBook Pro's, to get a better answer.

My problem is that even if that is the case, there will most likely be a delay in pressing and getting the input through. The great thing about physical keys is the immediacy of the feedback. I don't see Apple all of the sudden making vast improvements to substitute touch screens in place of physical buttons, but I'll be happy if they can prove me wrong.

El Crapp*tan installed? In my case El Capitan f*cked up my coreaudio, so my audio breaks constantly. Clean installed twice, same problems (even without restoring from backup).

Your MBP is a 2013 model, so do a Time Machine backup, format your disk and install Yosemite. Try it without restoring the back up yet, if there's no problems, restore from the backup. I'd restore only apps, docs and your contents, but not your configs, just in case its something config-related. If this works, great, otherwise, it might be a hardware problem (which is weird since your CPU/Mem doesn't even spike). Also try disabling animations and dashboard, I usually get rid of that tr*sh and slow animations so it feels snappier.

ok i definitely will. ive been having problems like this on 10.11.3/10.11.4/10.11.5 and its been the same. thanks for your help

In my experience, Ive had a great time with el capitan. I thought it was a vast improvement over yosemite (animations/performance). This was until my problems with my computer. Ill definitely try your method about installing yosemite, although id rather try and get a new macbook instead haha. what are configs btw?

That space on the left side of the leaked rMBP is way too much to be just left empty. Im sure they've yet to mill out the ports for the Smart Connector.

They didn't go over mobile GPU updates, other than the APUs.

However, the RX480 looks super impressive. makes me optimistic about the Mobile Polaris GPUs.

Also they tried to make the APUs look impressive. But looks like they are still lagging behind the intel iGPUs.

Meanwhile Dell releases a new laptop including USB-A and an Optical Drive. I don't remember the last time I used a CD so I'm glad that Apple continues to push forward.

I still use CDs because I prefer to rip lossless music from them, but I don't use a laptop CD drive--they're always really slow. So I'll essentially never need one for a laptop ever again.

AMD just announced that their Polaris GPUs will be on shelves June 29th. Of course, this is for the desktop, but I'd imagine that their mobile chips are probably in manufacturing as well. Take from that what you will. Bring on June 13th.

If they are implementing Touch ID into the OLED Touch bar...wouldnt it have to be made out of sapphire as well.
And also, what if they plan to sell a version that has physical keys. Perhaps a slightly cheaper model.

There is a clear division where the oled touch bar is supposed to go. Look on the right.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
My point was that there was something specific predicted, not just open-ended in the combined posts, that if the oled-strip prototype had magsafe, for instance, it would have directly contracted what he said earlier.

The rest of the 560pages has made for some pretty thin gruel. I clearly specified that I don't just credulously believe what Serban is saying. Nonetheless, I find those posts way more interesting to think about, even as thought experiments, than the endless kabylake/dGPU/USB-A regurgitation. I guess I just don't understand the vitriol. Wish everyone followed WRONG's lead and didn't take everything so darn seriously :D

I agree with that notion. I'm in no rush to buy this, I just wanted to see what direction Apple is taking. I might even wait till the second gen in late 2017 (hopefully) before purchasing this.

Ah, I see where you're going with this. From available information, such as the Logitech Base charger (which charges through the IPP's smart connector), it takes 7 hours to recharge to maximum capacity. If Im not mistaken the IPP has a 5-10W processor.

To charge the rMBP's current 28 W processor through MagSafe, it takes about 2-3 hours. So things arent really looking good for the Smart Connector. Though, I'm sure they can modify the intake for OSX devices, thereby making it comparable or even better than the MagSafe option. Or we'll just end up with USB C.:(

1. A9X's TDP is about 3-4W.
2. The charging speed of the Logitech Charger is depended on the speed of actual power adapter instead of the smart connector. Change the power adapter to the MacBook's 29W one, the charging time will be reduced to 1/3.
3. Wireless charging in the future.
