There is a clear division where the oled touch bar is supposed to go. Look on the right.

Oh. I thought it would be uniform. That might look clunky. Doesnt seem very minimalist or Apple to me. Kinda reminds of the power button in the cMBP if thats the case.

WTB MacBook Pro 13.3 (Retina, mid 2016) pm me. :(:rolleyes:
Do you have one for sale? Or is the WTB meaning want to buy?

Ha I meant, what are we expecting 10.12 to be called, then I said el capitan, to explain what name I was looking for
My guess for 10.12 is a name perfect for Timmy, homorainbow (where everything is colorful and stuff) to be exact.

How about OS X Compton? Or OS X Death Valley? OS X 90210?

Edit: Honestly though, I miss the days when we could all look forward to the new products Apple would roll out and eagerly await them without all of the nailbiting that we do these days over whether or not Apple is going to thoroughly ruin everything. Anyone else with me?

They haven't really thoroughly ruined any previous products, though. I mean, for the most part, the worst that's happened is that updates have been minor and disappointing. But there hasn't really been any general consensus that any of their products have been ruined with an update.

Except the Mac Mini, I guess. In that case the 2014 "update" really crippled that device. But it's not like people were really nail-biting for that one anyway...

There's the trash can Mac Pro. No matter how innovative the concept was, I think we can agree that they ruined it in that most pros don't like it and miss the easily upgradeability of the cheese grater Mac Pro. Also, it's no longer a foregone conclusion that they will release future products that will be seen as upgrades and far better than their predecessors. You gave a good example with the 2014 Mac Mini...they kind of ruined that product. And they now insist on soldering everything together, which is also disappointing. For me, it's no longer just the question of what great things they will do. It's also trying to figure out what they will do next that will piss people off...which they will do.

Hey guys, i know all of you are excited of the new case leak but I have a question about my current rMBP. Its a late 2013 model bought in august 2014. I never bought apple care and my 1 year warranty expired a while ago. 2 weeks ago, I took it to apple to fix the staingate. But for the past 4 months, I have been having spontaneous shutdowns (shutdowns for no reason, happens with handbrake (100% cpu) or just viewing pdfs (no cpu))

Video proof>
.

I took it to apple about this problem (last week) and I was able to replicated the exact issue infront of a genius working there. Real nice guy but he said something about me paying for the repair. Anyway he send it off to apple and two days later I get it back. According to apple, the wifi card was "broken unit" (but it always worked no problems) and they replaced it for free. I also got this "90 day warranty for any future problems Apple Care" with my computer. However, that repair did not do anything to fix my problem. I continue to have the shutdown problems. Since I dont have a warranty/applecare, do you think if i could show them the problem a couple more times, they might give me a replacement? Is it possible I could get the new 2016 model (that is if the new mbps are released at WWDC)? What do you guys think?

I pestered Apple for 3 months (going in every week or two for that period) showing them all the issues with my GPU in my 2012 rMBP. They eventually fixed it and now I have 16 GB of RAM instead of 8. And they fixed it for free. After going in a many times and showing them the issue, they had taken a lot of notes about my issue. So when I came in and asked the guy, "What other options do I have, I know my computer is broken, you've said my computer is broken, is there anybody else I can contact who can help me?" This got the guy to tell me to call some apple support line. It wasn't the standard one though. When I called they were able to assist me and upon looking at the notes left by the Genius's at the Genius bar, they replaced nearly my whole computer for free. Everything was replaced except basically the SSD and the bottom plate of the casing. Everything else was new and I now had 16 GB of RAM. Turns out mine was a heat sink issue that screwed up everything else. Anyway, after that 3 months of pain I had essentially a brand new computer, but I also did this during the time when they were offering extended warranty for GPU issues on my computer. They just didn't want to fix mine because it was the "wrong mid 2012 rMBP" even though they never specified a model on the extended warranty and my computer had a dGPU. Main point is, persevere. My persistence is what made them do it. They originally told me my screen was broken and I needed to pay $600 for repair. Just stick to what you know is true and they will cave eventually.

I just remembered this...since the next MBP will not be a wedge shape like the MB, does this mean that we will not be getting terraced batteries? Or can a boxy shaped computer like the current and next-gen MBP also benefit from terraced battery technology?

I think that's the power button (to keep it physical in case there's a software lock, i.e. hold down for a few seconds to force a power cycle). If it was kept as a 'touch' component within the LED bar, you'd have a hard time rebooting your machine if it hung.

Thanks a lot for your story man. Ill definitely keep going to my nearest apple store with my macbook problems. it sucks that it takes 20 min to get there tho. :/

Going to be honest here - I think it's going to be a negative. I frequently increase/decrease brightness, volume, and play/pause my music. Unless this touchpad can pretty much mirror that of a physical touch, I only see it as being like pressing down on an iPad screen... Aka gimmicky. But prove me wrong, Apple.

I envision it being even easier and better with the touch bar. Want to change the volume? Tap and hold anywhere on the bar. Slide your finger right to increase volume; left to decrease. Want to change brightness? Tap and hold two fingers and slide left/right. Slower finger slides increment/decrement in smaller steps. Faster slides increment/decrement in bigger steps.

And just with that, you've just gotten rid of 5 physical buttons that you need to know their location. IMHO, way better with the touch bar

What're you talking about, it's great for professions /s

Attached is the 'latest' 12core Mac Pro I purchased for work. Between the Mac and some OWC memory and storage, the OTD bill came up to $12k. All that money and it won't even work as planned. Been nothing but a nightmare getting it setup in our datacenter.

That could get confusing and clunky really fast. What would the gestures be for forward track, previous track, play/pause? Also what about keyboard brightness? I think it's a very intriguing idea though.

I'm with you on this, but can see the positives. I never use launchpad/dashboard/mission control buttons as I generally just use my trackpad for those. Would be nice to re-assign buttons (and have it represented accordingly on the laptop).
[doublepost=1464756504][/doublepost]Maybe it's been mentioned already, but the trackpad seems to be bigger as well.

Apple has very smart UX designers. I'm sure they will think of something. Just look at how well they got the gestures on the track pad.

I envision the gestures as a supplement to the normal "key press" actions. So normally you would be presented with the "virtual" function keys that you see physically today. So you could do either taps over the "virtual keys" or use gestures.

Hmmm...I actually think I like the idea of the OLED touch bar now that you've presented it in this way. Of course, we still don't know anything about Apple's implementation yet. They might completely screw it up.

My point was that there was something specific predicted, not just open-ended in the combined posts, that if the oled-strip prototype had magsafe, for instance, it would have directly contracted what he said earlier.

The rest of the 560pages has made for some pretty thin gruel. I clearly specified that I don't just credulously believe what Serban is saying. Nonetheless, I find those posts way more interesting to think about, even as thought experiments, than the endless kabylake/dGPU/USB-A regurgitation. I guess I just don't understand the vitriol. Wish everyone followed WRONG's lead and didn't take everything so darn seriously :D

others can remember that i also said there will start to be rumours since all the intel chips are ok with issues free and probably start with mass production, rumours will start to show...but hey like others said, im trolling or guessing or something, but ive learned my lesson not to share public things, you get the blame and for what, risking your life?!i just post only here in some conditions that i cant be traced just because i was elated to share and for all of us who prefer Apples products to be happy and let you know that mac are not dead.
Have a nice day and sorry if i upset some people here
