I don't know man...until I don't see that bar in action, I can't really say I "like" it. As of now, I'm just hoping that they offer a physical key option - that is until WWDC, where perhaps they will blow me away with it. But just until then, I'm very skeptical about it.
I guess that I can't say that I like it either because we haven't seen anything from Apple. However, knowing that there are things that they could potentially do with it that I would like is reassuring.
I've been giving this OLED touch screen some more thought. For volume, they could just have one symbol. If you tap it, it will mute the audio. If you put your finger on the volume symbol and swipe to the left it will lower the volume. If you put your finger and swipe to the right it will raise the volume. The further you swipe, the higher/lower the volume is adjusted.
They could use a similar idea for screen brightness and keyboard backlighting brightness where each just has one symbol. For instance, if you tap the screen brightness symbol, it will turn the display off, and if you tap it again, it will turn it back on (and remember your setting). If you put your finger on the symbol and swipe to the left/right you will decrease/increase screen brightness. It would be the same for the keyboard backlight. Tap to turn on/off completely and swipe on the symbol to decrease or increase to your desire.
Play/Pause, Next Track, and Previous Track would each have their own symbols. However, if you tap and hold the next track and previous track it will activate secondary rewind and fast forward functionality. The longer you tap and hold the symbols on the screen, the further back/ahead you rewind/fast forward.
I'm omitting the Mission Control and Launchpad functionality because it's not very useful on the keyboard in my opinion, and it's far easier to activate these features via trackpad gestures. Perhaps Apple would make these customizable for the user where you can add things like Wifi and Bluetooth on/off toggles, or maybe they would add a Siri button in 10.12?
Perhaps these ideas of mine are really bad, I don't know. I am just trying to think of what Apple might do to make this an innovative, useful feature. I can't imagine you would just press/tap on them as if they were physical keys. That would make no sense.
