Wow.
I went to sleep, I woke up, and BAM! +10 pages to read! o_O
This thread is getting intense!
:D

Thanks for the photoshopping, @ShadovvMoon! It's really good. I was just wondering where did you find another leaked picture.. now it make sense.
I have to admit, despite just the USB-C ports, it looks beautiful.
Thank you :D

I made another one for my dream Slate Retina Macbook Pro.
Make it happen Apple.

i can't stop thinking about this damn macbook pro.
i've just watched some videos for the carbon x1 adaptive keyboard, and i find it slow and not productive at all.
about the colors, do you think are we going to get the "technicolor" treatment even in the pro line?

i'm loving it, but i think that it will be a little thicker and we are going to get also the ventilation holes in the bottom case even for this one.
i'm already waiting for the MacBook Pro Bendgate or the #oledbAndstaingate

The new chassis leak is great but I'm surprised more people aren't talking about potential WWDC announcements now that it's less than 2 weeks away. Wouldn't Mark Gurman normally have come forward by now with some "controlled leaks" on what's going to be announced, even if it's just to say "no major hardware changes this time...". The silence is interesting.

I like what I'm seeing. Does Skylake support 4x TB3?

Not an expert on thermals, but can Apple fit an i7 + dGPU in there?
Asus put an i7 in a thinner-than-the-rMB, so Apple might fit dGPU in there too.

Edit: I originally wrote iGPU, but meant dGPU. Thanks @nahkampfwombi

Better google the difference to dGPU and iGPU :) !
The i7 got an iGPU.

Thanks for the answers about the keynote date guys!

I have had an iPad Pro 128gb since release (Nov '15). It is a great device, I thoroughly enjoy it. However, a big big big but is the way it charges. Once you have gotten it down to about 5% and plug it in (even through the iPad transformer aka charger) you won't be able to increase that percentage under heavy use and it might even drop depending on what apps you are using. I guess it will do this at any percentage, but it is most noticeable at low charges as you start wondering what the hell to do about it. This is one of its biggest downsides as any Apple laptop in comparison, easily charges up. How can Apple expect a device with this kind of charging behaviour to replace a laptop?
You need the MacBook charger with a USB-C to lightning cable my friend

The trackpad might look bigger just because the whole thing might be not as wide as the old MBP 13.

Sorry, I was wrong. The new MacBook Pro seems to have the same width and depth as the rMBP 13": 314 x 219 mm.

(The USB-C port has a fixed length of 8.4 mm, so I measured it in the picture and the sides and if you calculate it, depth and width are pretty much identical to the existing 13" rMBPs.)

In a 15/16" Version yes. In a 13.3/14" Version doubtful. It's not totally impossible... but it sure isn't practical.

Skylake unfortunately doesn't support TB3 AT ALL. Only Cannonlake will. Aka you have to wait 2 more generations.
What Apple can do, and did in the past, is use a dedicated TB3 Controller like Alpine Ridge.
(Without further looking into it and checking what I am gonna say) Alpine Ridge supports 2 TB3 ports. If you wanted 4 you'd need 2 of these controllers. Problem is... they need PCI-Express lanes. Intel's mobile CPUs are, however, severly limited in this regard.

Thinking about it though... what really needs its dedicated lanes is a dGPU. If this is axed... there may be enough lanes left to actually support 2 Chips w/ 2 TB3 ports each.

It would be great to see some photos of the new 15". The pessimist in me says that maybe the 13" redesign will come out at WWDC, with the 15" following in the fall. Similar to the release of the unibody when the 17" followed some months after the 15".

Hi guys,

What would occur if someone connects the charger cable to a USB-C port that is not implemented for charging?
I mean will it destroy something?

Presuming the photos are genuine, does this effectively confirm/highly suggest an announcement at WWDC? If they're not shipping it until calendar Q4 (so September/October), leaks to this extent - and production of the device - would be unlikely, right?

Slightly offtopic - what cable is Apple going to ship with the new iPhone 7 if the new cutting edge Macbook only has USB-C ports? According to this, most likely all current Macbook will be USB-C only.

So will the iPhone include an Lightning to USB-C cable? Lightning to USB-A (like they currently do)? An adaptor ? (i know, it's Apple).

Generally speaking, the market for devices with USB-C is very thin. I just checked and can't even buy a mouse with usb-c cord, let alone a usb-nano for usb-c from Logitech. So will i really have to buy an USB-C-A Adapter to connect my unified dongle to it? God help us :)

I hope so, but i have strictly no idea about it :)
(would say some prototype chassis come way before 4 months prior release, but maybe not towards the end manufacturers)

The leaked pictures (if genuine) show no MagSafe connector but it does pose the question why there's a space there? As you can see from the MacBook the USB-C port is pretty far back to the hinge. Starting those ports so far down the side is very odd. I cross my fingers that your 'shop is closer to the truth than appears from the leaks at present. 1 x MagSafe, 1 x SD, 1 x Audio jack and 4 x USB-C would be brilliant. One hopes the lack of MagSafe is just because it's an incomplete cutout, and that the SD slot is now at the front of the MBP.

So what happens to the 2015 rMBP models when the 2016 ones are released? Will they be discontinued? Or will they get a price drop? I'd be happy with a 2015 model, but not at current prices.

the macbook has the port close to the hinge because its the only one and because of its shape, its more safer there

Could also simply be they have configured the internal motherboard in such a way that it was easier to move the ports down a little on the side. Theres no rule that ports have to start at the top :)

I expect that they'll continue to ship Lightning to USB-A cables, primarily because of compatibility with older computers. Most Windows computers sold today only have USB-A, and most people will have computers that are a lot older than that - people wouldn't be able to plug their iPhone into their computer and use iTunes without an adaptor, which, with a bit of marketing from Samsung, would probably put a lot of people off. As the marketshare of Macs is smaller, and people will need adaptors anyway if they have a USB-C only MacBook, Apple will be less concerned about making that market discontented, plus the vast majority of Macs out there (including iMacs bought today) have only USB-A.

The second main reason is charging. There are millions of USB-A to wall adaptors available, and very few USB-C to wall ones. And pretty much every external battery ever would no longer charge iPhones. So there's no way that Apple will go USB-C only with iPhones for several years, and I doubt they'd provide an adapter.

And yes, you will have to buy a USB-C to USB-A adaptor to connect your dongle to for your mouse. It's going to be a tough few years, but eventually adaptors won't be necessary.
