need some new details from @Serban before friday :) So now we are on the 'most drastically changed' prototype man :) seems like it has been approved for production.

Presuming the photos are genuine, does this effectively confirm/highly suggest an announcement at WWDC? If they're not shipping it until calendar Q4 (so September/October), leaks to this extent - and production of the device - would be unlikely, right?

Nope, it doesn't mean anything. Think about the leaks that have been made of the iPhone 7, and that's not due until September.

the macbook has the port close to the hinge because its the only one and because of its shape, its more safer there
Top corner (left or right) is extremely common for power location though because it's tucked out of the way. I ask the question again.... if genuine, why don't the ports on the left start closer to the hinge as they do on the right hand side... or the MacBook for that matter?

Ah true, fair point. The iPhone 7 is both significantly more anticipated and has a significantly larger production order so I thought that might explain it, but yeah, they may well still not launch it until October. But I'll retain hope, as I really need it before September and it'll be my first Mac, so I'm perhaps too excited for it!

Do you remember this (just behind) :

@justywusty That was in December, it had time to evolve in 7 months. And the new mbp is a bit thicker than a 3.5 jack . It's still very slim and could look like to this picture

I dont know but with intels announcement that kaby lake is still on track and the leak from today, maybe we should rename this post to waiting for kaby lake? I actually don't mind waiting as long as we get more leaks like this

Not a fan of black/grey to be honest.

I think this "OLED touch bar" (or whatever) sounds like something Dell would come up with. Reminds me of a "multimedia" keyboard.

If they can have the touch functions and light icons in behind the metal like the battery meter, that would be fine. But an "OLED bar"??? Yuck!
[doublepost=1464789680][/doublepost]4 USB-C ports is overkill. Not necessary especially when you can drive a screen and charge your laptop (for example) over one cable.

Little dark on the edges (makes the ports look weird) and I forgot the keyboard

Stop it. My heart can't handle this.

The Kaby Lake Chips releasing in 2016 will not be suitable for a Macbook Pro. Intel does not just release every variant of a processor family all at once. Skylake chips started coming out last year, but suitable chips for Macbook Pro have only been available for a few weeks. It is extremely likely that the same will happen with Kaby Lake.

4 USB-C ports is overkill. Not necessary especially when you can drive a screen and charge your laptop (for example) over one cable.

For now, when everything requires an adaptor, there may be spare and unnecessary ports, but within a year or two pretty much everything will use USB-C... so there won't be any adaptors and four ports may well be necessary. Even now, you can't necessarily get a one-port adaptor that suits all of your needs - someone may need to charge, have a wireless mouse dongle via USB-A, have an SD card slot, and a projector via HDMI, and a single adaptor may not exist for that. Cutting down the ports to 2 wouldn't make it any thinner, and there's no advantage to having less than 4 ports in my opinion.

Nope. Some Skylake processors launched last year, but the ones suitable for MBPs only recently came out. Similarly, some Kaby Lake processors may come out this year, but the ones for the MBPs will come out only around this time next year. So unless it's certain that the next MBPs aren't coming out until WWDC 2017 (which isn't going to happen), then we're still waiting for Skylake, even if the new MBPs don't come out until October. We might all go a little crazy if the launch isn't until calendar Q4, but they'll still be Skylake.

What are all of the products that have had teasers / unveilings months before the actual release? Mac Pro and Apple Watch are the two that come to memory right away. If in fact we're looking at the end of the year, is it so out of the realm of possibility to say that we could get a MBP tease at WWDC?

What I'm really curious about is whether these will be 4 TB3 ports, or 2 TB3 and 2 USBC

I'm certain it will be all Thunderbolt. The 2x2 configuration matches the availability of the Intel daughter cards that provide TB capability. If Apple is going to provide 4 visually identical ports, they are all going to be equal. This is why the rMB has just a single port; in that form factor there was no way they could provide multiple ports without having differing capabilities.

Adapters that provide all that capability already exist. With the MBP line going all usb-c adapter availability will be significantly better in the not-so-distant future. My guess is the vast majority of people are going to quickly realize that all these ports are overkill, but providing 4 TB ports shows that Apple is serious about this being a Pro machine.

Thank you :D

I made another one for my dream Slate Retina Macbook Pro.
Make it happen Apple.

Wow. Impressed.
Thank you for your render!
Just want to point out: it seems the reduction of the thickness is only gained from the slimmer display(12" MB technology).
Here are some rationales:
1. The thickness of the side(not the curved bottom) of the machine is (almost) identical from the leaked image to the current one.
2. Serban's post (1.68-1.61cm if I remember right? Can't find his post)
3. The hinge on this thing is MBA style opposing to MBP style, probably due to a lighter screen.

Guessing, that the "OLED touch bar" will be some sort of notification area as well...maybe some answers from Siri will show up there.

Somebody suggested a Thunderbolt Display with included eGPU; this comes close: http://www.digitalstorm.com/aura.asp
(Although not quite ;) )
"How about if we take this really hot thing that sucks power, and put it inside this hot thing that sucks power?"

No, that's actually a good idea if the cooling is done right. The back of a display is really the perfect place for heating fins.

Welcome to Apple computers :)
I've had 4 now over the years. Current MacBook Pro I use is from 2010. Although OSX can be buggy, it is a nicer experience then Windows I still find.

Stay optimistic, none of us really now, although it is possible if KGI doesn't predict Apple's fourth quarter then it may not be announced at WWDC.

Hmm, it really depend on how you drive that display. If the display has a interconnection to the graphic card in it, it will be fine. But if the card in the display is only used for computing (the card in the notebook drives the display), the bandwidth constraint will be a huge trouble. Let I/O alone...
