Edit: I see people are already complaining that this GPU won't be upgradable. Funny that this was never a source of complaint in MBPs!

I would be hesitant to buy a monitor with build in graphics card if it's not upgradeable and substantially more expensive than one without a graphics card. The monitors I buy tend to last several generations of laptop hardware (currently I'm on a 7 year old 30" Dell 3008WFP that's still serving me great). This is connected to the fact that GPU's evolve much faster than display hardware. The iGPU 3 years from now will probably beat the dGPU of today and then you're left with a heavy, power hungry, outdated, more likely to break monitor.

If the reported Thunderbolt Display shortages indicate an imminent refresh it means an announcement at WWDC. Announcing a new monitor, especially if it has TB3 support, GPU etc, is unlikely to happen without reference to new macs that can take advantage of it.

Hooray!!

I have a question. If one Thunderbolt 3 port uses up 4 lanes of PCIe traffic, how does it support up to 8 lanes of DP 1.2 traffic? Is it taking multiple DP lanes and putting them on a single lane of Thunderbolt 3?

DP is designed to work on passive cables, i.e. cables made of just wire. TB uses active cables with drivers/amplifiers at each end. This lets TB run at higher speeds than DP - but note that TB repurposes the [DisplayPort] lanes to have two in each direction. In TB1, a single TB lane could carry a four lane DP1.1 signal, with some bandwidth left over. TB2 allowed the two TB lanes to be merged to carry a four lane DP1.2 signal. TB3 doubles the speed, so now that DP1.2 signal fits in a single lane.

Only 11 days until Apple doesn't announce the new MBPs! I can't wait. Is it too early to ask when is the next date we'll be doing a countdown for? September or so?

The iPhone event is probably the most likely candidate for an announcement (if not then, then who knows?), so September 14th. Hopefully the release will be something like the next day if we're waiting that long.

I would find it more likely to have an announcement at WWDC and release whenever than to crowd out the iPhone event with other devices. That, or maybe an October announcement with iPad Pro 2. NOT the iPhone event.

The iPhone is king.

Anything but an October event  That's so far away! I'm currently somewhat optimistic that they'll preview it at WWDC, perhaps open pre-orders and release it in July/August, but if that doesn't happen I guess I'll prepare for an October launch.

Sometimes I think Serban is a valid leak. Then again, he promises leaks/sneaks whatever via pm, which for me looks totally untrust-worthy. But I may be wrong :) ! Whatsoever .... I hope there will be the new rMBP13(14"?) revealed @WWDC16. So maybe I'll buy me one as christmas present in december.
