I just have to ask.... why do you need 32GB in an MBP?

As an InfoSec student, and eventually professional, multiple VM's at a time, lots of compiling, other applications, etc.. I'm always on the edge of my 16GB machine, frequently being warned that even the SWAP is full. Thank goodness for my SSD or filling all of the physical RAM would be a huge speed bump.

i think who is 4k video and audio editing Ram is always nice to have
[doublepost=1464984973][/doublepost]A first look at new Macs is coming !!!!!!!!! And it will be nice to unlock your mac with TOUCHID

Im just hoping they update the 2012 rMBP to Skylake whenever the 2016 one comes out...in case I hate 2016. Also for some reason Im scared to embrace a design that Jobs never overlooked.

i mean at wwdc they will present the ability to unlock the mac with TouchID

That was leaked a while ago, via the Iphone. I cannot imagine anyone being excited about having to use their iphone to unlock their mac though. Seems like a totally useless feature to me.

There's basically no chance of that happening. If they were going to update it to Skylake, they'd also need to give it Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C to futureproof it... and then the 2016 MBP has essentially been reinvented!

What's the problem with Jobs never seeing the new design? He's been gone for a long time. iOS 7 onwards won't have been seen by him. Neither will the massive redesign in OS X Yosemite, or any recent iPhone, or the recent iPads, or Apple Watch... surely his approval means nothing now, particularly as technology has changed so much since 2011?

They did that with the 2011 MacBook Pro back in WWDC 2012 when they unveiled the rMBP.

Jobs might have never seen the current OSs or what not, however his input has been deeply ingrained in them. The 2015 rMB and the 2016 rMBP seem like great departures from the previous models (more so than 2008 MacBook to 2012 rMBP) - so I'm a bit hesitant. But what you say is right as well.

I wish we could just go back to March to "Let Us Loop You In." What a time to be alive that was. If there is no update on Apple's green initiatives at WWDC, I'm not recycling anymore. Period.

Despite flames, rumors and generally chaos, this is still
...one of the most unique online events that I've ever been a part of.

:)

It is seriously, the best thread we've ever made.

Wait, who the hell are Darknet and all of these other supposed leakers? I swear not looking at this thread every minute will make you question your life and priorities

All these new accounts appearing out of nowhere...

True, though they did present the rMBP as an entirely new product - if you watch the announcement, Schiller makes a comment about needing more room on the slide showing all of their MacBooks, and presented the rMBP as something new, a depiction helped by the fact that its price was higher than the then-current MBPs, and the fact that it shipped only in 15 inches. While it's expected that both of the new MBPs will ship at the same time and won't be (significantly) different in regard to price - despite the changes being large, Apple will probably present it as the next step, dropping the 2015 models in the process. Their product lineup is complicated as it is, with the Air not being the lightest model, so I can't see them keeping both the 2015 and 2016 MacBook Pro models around.

Fair point about his influence, but we've long since reached the point where he hasn't had influence. Jobs was a big fan of Forstall; I doubt he would have ever fired him. But not so long after Jobs' death, Cook fired him and replaced him with Ive, who effectively reinvented the UI of all Apple's software - certainly without Jobs' influence. The new MBP probably won't be a dramatic shift to the extent that the 2015 MacBook was, and that product was certainly not influenced by Jobs (who wouldn't have known about USB-C, or butterfly keyboards, or Core M processors, or the fact that the product could ever be that thin!) so I really think you shouldn't worry.
