@WRONG the iphone will reach a very mature state of technology next year so its very hard to innovate anymore on a mature product , so they focus into another weak product market like a car and a watch
Apple always wants to keep its adn for their products to make them recognisable
Look at what mercedes or audi is doing now..from design point of view...they all looks almost the same with different dimensions, for everybody knows that brand is a mercedes/audi

If we don't see anything at WWD, I think I will just get the current model. Anyone in the same boat?

If Apple silently reduce the price, I may consider it.

I still got to make up my mind between buying an outdated machine (aka 2015 rMBP) but still performing at least for my needs, and spending 1500euros for it.

As WRONG said, it's a matter of price. I can't see the point in paying it as a brand new

Otherwise, I'll have to figure something else. I already have a mid-term machine (from which I'm typing) and it can barely support me in daily tasks

yes in the fall mac mini, apple display, macbook p, mac pro all will be updated, with mac mini and macbook p also get a redesign. Seems that Apple is still working with intel to bring TouchID into the cpu to be more secured

I actually think that this is a point worthy of discussing. TouchID on iOS devices works with the Secure Enclave coprocessor, but Macs obviously are on a completely different platform, and will need a different implementation for TouchID as a result. I was doing a little research on how they might implement it on Intel, and the only thing that I came up with is Intel SGX (Software Guard Extensions), which is a brand new feature of Skylake actually. It's supposed to be much more secure and more advanced than their TPM (Trusted Platform Module), which I don't think would necessarily be used.

If I did my research correctly and this is something that they will use, this would mean that this is the first time that Apple could actually offer TouchID on the Mac and have it comply to their specifications. This is just speculation, but is it possible that Apple has actually been working with Intel for years on this feature in order to bring a secure, robust version of TouchID to the Mac? I know they probably wouldn't have to, but this is Apple, a company that is obsessed with security, so I'm not sure that they would use the methods that Windows OEM's have been using for years in their fingerprint scanning implementations.

Any opinions?

and i think after apple will come up with these new macbooks everyone will make a touch pad laptop...even if some of those already did in the past but very purely

Please, just stop whatever you are doing. I may be a newbie to this form, but your comments are at best guesses at worst trolling.
plz at least stop with the lie....there will be no 13" MBP. What guesses when i help others with the march event and said everything that will come to that event...yesterday with hours earlier i said there will be no mbp at wwdc...im guessing but when mark was telling the EXACT thing..again guessing? my god so im very good at guessing maybe i should play at roulette right? but that message wasnt meant to you but for those who believe that will be a 13" MBP, so just 1" more than current Macbook. 100% false

He will come and say that apple is thinking to release them at september event... Ong omg serban is guessing BUT this guy is God, he is just telling you the exact thing, i am wondering since is the same day that him also hadnt an apple engineering team meeting also on 3 june
That doesnt exclude the fact that apple will introduce the bigger macbook brother

Dear me, are you really trying to compare the garbled nonsense you post on here to the leaks provided by Gurman?

Gurmans record is exemplary. You are just repeating stuff that has already been reported. Don't remember you mentioning the bigger Macbook until KGI had reported it.

are you kidding me? or just flame me? you can ask a lot of users here that i had a pm conversation that the macbook has a bigger brother. And i said before Gurmans that there will be no MBP at the event. Check the timeline..easy facts..but hey maybe im just guessing...or maybe Gurmans is copy paste me in that prodcast...or just maybe, has a source like i did from those meeting yesterday...a little BIG coincidence dont you think?? a guy is posting here that will be no MBP at WWDC and after hours...Gurman said the exact same thing

IF there are no new Macs at wwdc there are 3 options for me:
- Buying a Dell XPS 13
- Buying a MBP 13", if there is a price drop from apple
- Buying a used 15"

If we don't see anything at WWD, I think I will just get the current model. Anyone in the same boat?

I really almost got the current model(13") in Feb : was at the last step of the buying process, just one click missing, and thought "ok let's still have a look at what is coming", and ended up here ...

Even though I kind of wish I had bought it in Feb, now I think I will wait for Sept, more than speed or the Oled thing, it's for TB3 and ability to drive a 5K display, as I use my MBP closed a lot with a desktop display, and TB3 should allow to have one or two cables to disconnect, even though now it appears the new model might not be able to drive 5K displays ... (will settle for 4K then).

Plus as my current one is a 2010 15" MBP, I will probably keep the next one for some time as well, and 2 or 3 years from now not having TB3/USB C will probably be a pain for new powerful fast external storage and the like.

But as I have a kind of little dev project for this summer, I need to bump up my current one a bit, move from 128 SSD to 256, and 4GB ram to 8.

Same here but the Dell. I've been using Windows for so long, I can't stand it anymore, sorry.

MacOS is the only option I gave myself, and in a week from now or so will be the time to decide which solution to buy

None of your so called help is informative. Before Mark Gurman's talk come out, Ming-Chi Kuo have already said that there will be no new MacBook Pro on 13th and other sources agree with that when back then you assure us there will be an update. That guy I quoted in ZHIHU gave us info specific and risky at that time before any news report, including Oled bar, four type c ports and larger touch pad while your supposed hands on info is nothing other than some vague description. He may not be accurate on the size, but so far he proved himself to be reliable. All those are documented on that website, go check it yourself.
And btw, regarding the March event, I, a guy didn't even know macrumors, found about everything important from other newspapers and tech shows three days before the announcement without your help at all.

I can't bring myself to pay a new price for tech which is just about to be replaced. I am more likely to buy another 2010 15" MBP and add my machine's RAM and SSD, to keep me going until the new MBPs are out. Only problem is, I have the high-res option (1050x1680) screen which I love and it will be hard to find another MBP with the same option. I wonder if my GPUs are the same as the low-res MBPs from the same year? Might be easier to swap in an old GPU to keep my machine going another 6 months.

Mark Gurman says that the new macbook pro with two screens will come at the END of the year.
****
Gurman said no hardware in WWDC.
Great. 3~5 more months to wait

*Puts on tin-foil hat (or maybe a cynicism-hat)*

Apple is waiting to reveal the new MBP until the iPhone event because they know the stop-gap iPhone is going to disappoint everyone and they will want to divert attention away from it.

Actually, the next gen Intel processor will not bring about any significant improvement. Don't worry about the efficiency, I am sure that Apple won't let us down.

So...September when?

It's funny that this forum in such a short time became an epicenter of unhappy customers, who came here in large numbers just to wait for the updated MBP line. I'm one of those people - started to check out rumors of new laptop around February. I was dragged in silent wait until March event. Nothing happened. Then same thing has happened and we are waiting for June summit and it seems the waiting will continue. This is madness because bottom line is this: I'm still without up to date laptop and I'm not going to buy technology that is going to be replaced so soon. The waiting is tiresome and it grows on me to actually check out windows laptops. The gap between MBP offered in Apple Store and supposedly the upcoming MBP is too big for my taste.

Tech-wise my $.02: I couldn't care less for oled bar and Touch ID. Same with super modern design and other crap that make the trade off for waiting that long.

So because Gurman says no MBP at WWDC we are throwing in the towel? I still believe there will be a release at WWDC.

I don't know, man. Mark does this for living. His reliability decides the number on his bill. I don't think he will make some comments based on some predictions.

I want to play a little game with you guys.
Here we have 6 of the latest Apple iPhones.
Can you tell the different models?

:D

Challenge accepted!
6, 6s+, SE, 6+, 6s, 5s
EZ :D

(The 5s vs SE is obvious because of the matte chamfered edges and steel Apple logo )
