Gurman was pretty sure about no new hardware (he did not even mention a larger Macbook in the whole podcast) at WWDC. He says that they have to release four new OSs (Mac, iOS, watch and tv) and will apparently not shup up about Siri on the 13th as it's coming to Mac and is getting an upgrade for iOS.
There wasn't much about MBP in the whole 45 minutes, it's mentioned for less than a minute at 25:50 and then mentioned again near the end when asked what product he was most excited about for the rest of 2016. He wasn't specific about an event for MBP (end of the year) but implied that touch ID would integrate with the new OS so I guess definitely not before September.
He said also that the Air will be allowed to die, which is sad. If Apple had any confidence in the Macbook they would have put a decent screen on the Air by now but it seems they don't have the balls to do that.
As for Gurman he is going to Bloomberg News. They already have an Apple reporter so his brief will include the wider tech industry. He is particularly excited about Amazon.
