I still say that the leaked MacBook Pro photos arent revealing all infromation related to ports. I think we might see a smart connector-like magsafe design...and a SD card slot.

Those gaps just don't make sense.
To you. They do to Ive. ;)

I intend buying a new 5k screen from apple. I will be able to charge and drive a display from a single port. Amazing. That leaves one free for general purpose use. The fewer cables the better. If you need a bunch of USB devices like a Jimi Hendrix pedal set up, go buy a USB-c hub.

The fact you'll get an external display from Apple (if they release 5K external ones), doesn't mean others will get the same setup. That setup is OK for you, but it's selfish to ask for fewer ports as you already cover them with your own options. What if other people needs more ports?
The cable logic is absurd, if you get a USB Hub you will end up having the same amount of cables, it doesn't matter if it's from your Mac or from the hub. You don't want to see cables from your Mac? Use only 1 port with a Hub, but don't ask for less ports just to "have it clean", since others might need those ports. I mean, whats the problem with having 4 ports instead of 2? If you don't want to use them, don't use them, but don't ask for restrictions for others just for your own benefits.
One example: sound cards can't go through hubs, since they cause problems. So 1 external sound card + 1 external display = 2 ports. What about the external controllers through USB, do I have to switch off the display every time I'm using them? Hilarious. More than 2 ports on a professional machine are a MUST, not for you, but for most of us.

Apple helps us to simplify and helps design orientated folks to achieve high level objectives by inspiring them with the work of the planet's best designers.

Wait, what did I just read? Oh I get it, you are the troll master here.

I want a clean desk and no holes. Too much to ask for?

Then buy a hub or hide your cables, not everybody cares about beautiful desks but more about being productive with their machines.

I can already see his satisfied face for the next ultra-thin | no ports | no keyboard MBP:

DAT THINNESS!

#2. Yes, it's all about CPU speeds for processing plug-ins and drive speeds for playing Back 30 to 80 traks. Using different playback buffer sizes for recording and mixing helps.

#3 I only use Apogee interfaces and they are rock solid in El Capitan. But I hope they release a USBc cable for the Duet/Quartet. They are already all in on Thunderbolt.

Yeah, on my temporary MBA I always used higher buffers, but it hasn't been enough most of times on mixings. Another option is some external sound card with DSP, to process the plugins there and ease some workload on the CPU.
Great to know about Apogee, I've been told RME are also rock solid in it, but none of my 2 external soundcards work with El Capitan even with new drivers (they did from Mountain Lion to Yosemite), and new Mac would mean also +1500€ for a new interface. A pity.

How many tracks? Average plug-in count? DAW? Are your interfaces from AVID? I had lot´s of issues with those.
I´m on a 2012 MBA 13" with 1.8ghz i5 and 8GB RAM. Both using the internal audio card or using the Duet and One units from Apogee, I was mixing and having a good time on 40 track rock projects. Did them while on holiday last summer. That was with Pro Tools 11. I`m getting higher performance since going to Studio One. I usually record at 64 and mix at 128, but some plug-ins make me go to 512 or 1024. Studio One let´s you go to 4096 if you need to.
At Home I use the iMac in my signature, and here Studio One lets me do twice as many plug-ins as Pro Tools and Logic.
So DAW choice also affects performance CPU-wise.

On another note, can't even play Overwatch on the highest spec's 2015 15"rMBP at even the lowest settings for consistent 60fps lol

I don't know what you are doing but I am getting solid 60fps with the mbp with Amd r9 m370x

The discontinuation of the Thunderbolt Display should makes me question everything. If there were absolutely no Mac updates over the summer, why get rid of the one monitor solution Apple has available that works on All of its products (except the rMB).

Ok, lets say they release one thats compatible with the rMB, so a USB-C monitor (that ISNT driven over TB3). Thats certainly a possibility, but then the rMB would then be the only computer to run it, which also makes no sense. The obvious solution is to give everything a TB3 port which would still be compatible with whatever USB-C (Displayport) driven solution they derive, but not for several months apparently.

Nothing makes sense anymore.

Mark Gurman said WWDC will be software only. I don't want to believe him tho

Yes...please tell. If I can get solid 60fps in Overwatch with my current rMBP...I may reconsider selling it and not get the skylake version

You will never get solid 60 fps with full rMBP resolution. 1080p, yes.

You know that Overwatch is Windows only and will never be released on macOS. The developers already confirmed that.. And by the way... Overwatch is just a mix of League of Legends and Unreal Tournament. Nothing unique or special.. Its interesting for 20 hours but after you know how to counter your opponents champion, its easy and gets boring over the time.

No MBP at WWDC?
so sick of this apple, comon.

Nah, if you look at the history when new redesigned Macbooks where upcoming, the first leaks gets to the public 3 - 4 weeks before the WWDC. It was the case in 2012 and 2015 in Spring before the r-Macbook got released.

This time we also got some rumors and a very concrete leak from the chassis. In my opinion, the chance to get a Macbook Pro unveil at WWDC are by around 80%. The AMD Polaris 11 and 10 Graphic Cards are in production in Taiwain right now and are ready to put them into the Macbook Pro.

Yeah I'm not buying the software-only WWDC story either. Even if it comes from Mark Gurman

So, if the Macbook Pro has new Features like an OLED Bar and Touch ID, i think it is very important for developers, to know about new API's and an On-Stage Demo during the Keynote to see, how it works and what is possible with the new device.

Its very important for Apple to Showcase it and the WWDC is the best date to show it to the public.

The way I see it is release the hardware now with a point release of El Capitan, with Apple only features for the OLED and Siri. Also show the API as part of 10.12 so that the apps are ready in October.

I'm on Ableton 9.6, MBA 2014 i5 but 4GB RAM. Last project was 40-45 tracks or so (not the biggest one) but I'm kind of a perfectionist freak, so I don't only clean the mix and sit it with the other parts, I spatialize it with 3rd party plugins (not only DAW host panning), and also enhance concrete harmonics and shape transients with more 3rd party. Keep in mind that I also use Nebula to replicate the hardware artifacts and give more warmth, and Nebula is massive in CPU usage. Add the reverbs at HIQ to position some elements further, and you have me craving for a quad core MBP or a tower :D
Always had to work between 1024 and 2048 with the OCTA CAPTURE (now it doesn't work with El Capitan). I have no problems with internal audio tho, but never use headsets but external monitors. Oh, I've also used Logic some years ago, dunno now but before it was quite CPU hungry.

I think if they intend to introduce a new oled display above the keyboard, introducing the macbook pro at the wwdc would be a great opportunity. They could demo some of the new tools/functionalities for developers that will come along this new oled.
I was using Spotify today, and I was wondering why can't I add a song directly to a playlist, or like it, or see the title without switching app (I like sometimes working in apps fullscreen mode).

Ohh, that's an interesting thought, like the iPad has mini, air, and pro

The mbp chassis leaked seems to have the size of 13"-14" model. Doesn't it?
Moreover, the actual 13" rmpb is the best selling apple pro laptop. It would be very risky to remove it from the line.
But this question is very important. The most from my point of view. Without talking about MBA, what models do you think will be the components of macbook-macbook pro line at the end of the year?

A) 12"mb and 13-14"mb plus. 13-14"mbpro and 15-16"mbpro.
B)12"mb and 13-14"mb plus.15-16"mbpro.
C)12"mb and 14-15" mbpro(fusing both actual sizes in one).
D)12"mb, 13-14"mbpro and 15-16"mbpro.
E)other combination.

OK Jimi. Whatever you say.

Games are increasingly for 40 year-old losers. Not too many kids to play games these days.

lolwut? Do you even have kids? Video games outsell movies and music combined, League of Legends viewership surpassed the final game of the World Series, and universities are starting to offer eSports scholarships, but games are just for 40 year-old losers?

My 12 year old son set up a Minecraft server on his own by watching YouTube videos, while my 10 year old daughter wanders the house Skyping with friends while they play Minecraft / Roblox / etc. together. I can’t imagine the whining that would result if I pulled pulled them away from games to do something boring like watch football. Heck, the boys (including my 14 year old) don’t even like going to the movies.

You must inhabit the Reality Distortion Field centered on the executive office at 1 Infinite Loop, because that’s the only place I know that is focused on the past rather than the future of entertainment.
