I have the rMB. They are phenomenal... for their size. They're not better than the current 15" MBP speakers. At least to my ears. But, they are better than the 13". So they should be an upgrade but don't expect miracles.

Lol ive been trying to sell my 15in macbook pro retina late 2013 for the past 2 months with no serious offers (been selling for around 1k-1.2k). Today, I messaged a guy on craigslist about trading my macbook pro 15in 2.0gdz for his 2015 12in macbook 1.1gdz. Do you guys think this is a good trade for me? I believe the stuff I do will suffice on a 2016 m3 macbook (i dont do any video editing, etc), but is the 2015 1.1 model that much slower? im going to miss the 1 hour extra battery life. What do you guys think? Or should I wait till the new 2016 13in macbook comes out and get a more well rounded computer?

Not sure what you disagree with?

You said yourself that the current Mac products are either "dead man walking" or "waiting to be updated". And that's exactly what WRONG was saying - everything is outdated.

I clearly explained what I meant in the rest of my post which you left out.

For me it's very hard to wait ! I'm web designer / dev and i've a 2015 rMacbook pro 13 (16 go ram, i5 2,9) . But I don't know why people say that is a powerful laptop. I've tested many apple product and the difference between a rMacbook (2016) and the 2015 rMacbook pro are not that huge ! And the 2015 rMacbook pro is not a killer machine for me, I've a lot of slowdown in sketch app with big files or with some software

For me the perfect combo : 5k iMac + rMacbook but too expensive ! And 2 computers ;(

But if apple make a more powerful rMacbook pro + 5k external display (with a dedicated graphic card ) it'll be wonderful !

I'm sorry guys I was weak, the XPS 15 got a pretty nice discount here in Germany , 16 gb DDR4 , Skylake Core i7-6700HQ 2.7 ghz, 4k Display , 1 TB SSD (!!!) , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, 3 usb 3.0 ports and one usb type c port for 1800 euros, I'm sorry apple but you pushed me away :(

So, to everyone whose stuck in limbo (either waiting or looking to go to Windows soon), I'm leaving what worked for me back in March (when no new MBPs were announced at the 'environmental event' or whatever).

I had a 2012 15in cMBP that I sold for $950 on eBay. Bought a brand new 2015 15in ($2,500 model w/ AMD GPU) for $2,050 on eBay. When 4th gen MBPs are released, I plan on selling my current 2015 for ~$1,800 on eBay and buying a 4th gen 15in.

I will take a ~$250 loss (for 6 months w/ my 2015 MBP) but it has definitely been worth it (vs. completely jumping ship for Windows). The retina display, the battery life (10+ hrs avg for me), the much slimmer form factor, and the AMD GPU ALL have been absolutely remarkable (!).

For people interested in gaming performance, older titles play on Ultra @ 1440p 60 FPS, newer titles High @ 1080p 50-60 FPS (this is within Boot Camp Win 10, however).

It's not too late to follow a similar path. Apparently, we still have ~4 months until we see 4th MBPs shipping.

I would go Windows because I literally have no laptop at all, but some things about Windows bother me. The spying on you, the trackpads, battery life, speakers, and customer service. All of those things are a legit concern when going PC.

I feel PC is only a better option if you enjoy PC gaming or you have a price budget.

The "spying" on you is the only thing you cannot fix. Microsoft Precision touchpad laptops have very good trackpads, battery life and speakers totally depend on the model.

Customer Service I agree that generally Apple wins.

That version with 1 TB SSD and 32 GB costs 2500 euros here in Germany :( and it's not discounted

I would have bought in a heartbeat for 2173 euros like it costs over there :(

lol good luck selling your MacBook for 1800. I've been trying to sell my (although older) late 2013 MacBook Pro 15in retina in perfect condition for 2 months now. I haven't gotten any bids at even $700 on eBay. smh. especially when the new design comes out, your MacBook Pro value is going to tank so quick.

I have been using a maxed-out mid 2012 MBP15'' since it arrived, what a solid machine, speakers sound bad after few falls on the floor, once on a concrete, I thought it got f***ed but no, screen is still very good, still using the original battery that lasts more than an hour, I only needed to buy the power adaptor twice in four years which is fine, I think El Capitan made it slower a little, It's my only computer that I use for everything and overall Im very happy with my purchase, I plan to max-out the redesigned MBP and keep it until the next redesign.

Waiting for WWDC's new bands.

I was looking at the leaked chassis again...to help tide my MacBook Pro panicks over. And I noticed that they haven't milled out the dual microphone holes either. This surely is an incomplete chassis. I might even go as far to say that this is a faulty model (there might have been a mishap which led to the 2 USB Cs not being aligned) that was disposed of and an employee picked up. Thats why there are odd gaps and supposed ports "missing."

Just a hopeful thought for MagSafe and SDXC card slot.

I'd love to see HDMI stick around as well, plus Headphone jack and USB-A... hopes...

I honestly don't think any of the 'older' ports are going to carry over into the next era of MacBook Pro. I think Apple is going to go all USB C. I certainly don't thing Magsafe will carry over, but a third party company will take care of that.

I don't understand it either ... and it's not like Apple is immune - Siri phones home for almost everything

The SPYING in Win10:
When you're installing Win10, hidden away under a very tiny clickable link you're able to adjust the settings of the "spying". Unnervingly enough those settings changed are not ALL settings that concern the spying. Also those settings sometimes are changed back to active after an update of Win10.

What this does is basically sending every single keystroke for analysis to Microsoft together with your browsing habits, file system information, location information, movement patterns and much more. It even openly says so when adjusting the settings. All informations will be gathered to "improve" your Windows experience by offering content thats suitable for your needs i.e. advertising displayed in Edge Browser and (planned feature) on your locked screen.

This kind of data collecting - read again: every single keystroke. location data and much more - is really dangerous, even if you say "MS only uses it for advertising" this data still lies somewhere and of course, data security always is a joke when it's digital no matter what. But what's really concerning is, that this will be used to "profile" you and analyze your habits. I often hear the argument "I have nothing to hide!" on what I always answer "Who you ARE is ALL you have to hide. It's private!".

Make up your mind on your own. Does Apple spy on us, yeah I am sure they do (even though they do their best to keep us safe from outside intruders) and also those files and data lie on some server somewhere, who knows how safe. iCloud anyone?

Actually, on the 15" the mics are hidden behind the speaker grill. The 13" chasis has for the first time a speaker grill, this could indicate that they are adopting the same design as in the 15", hiding them behind the grill. This eliminates the need of drilling holes around the chasis, since the holes are already there. In my opinion that way is more aesthetically pleasing.

Btw, I know we are all going to miss magsafe. I regard it as one of Apple's greatest addition to their notebook lineup, it is useful, simple and most of all elegant. But try looking at it this way. You won't need to ask your friend or buy (specifically) a "Mac charger". USB-C is going to be universal, the amount of places that you will be able to plug in your Mac will increase exponentially. This is the aspect that is not being examined. You will be able to plug your mac even to a portable battery pack. I will miss magsafe, but certainly welcome the big advantage of being able to plug in my laptop anywhere. I won't have to rely on apple to build my charger, we will have options now. Imagine a charger with USB ports, something apple would not do, but a third party will. The possibilities will be endless.

I think Apple does a certain level of data collection, but I am sure it's not anywhere near the level of Microsoft. Windows 10 is basically malware and spyware installed on your computer. I do agree most have nothing to hide, but it's just that feeling of being watched. We live in a world today where privacy has lost value, but I still value my privacy.

Well, it still doesn't explain why there is a lot of space to the left of the USB C ports, so maybe that is supposed to be for MagSafe.
