Wait. So you are saying that they shouldn't announce them until September?
I was implying that they won't announce them until later, without specifying a date. I backtracked a bit though in my edit. My idea was that announcing new MBPs that come out in August would hurt sales for two months, right in the middle of the back to school promo. But maybe they feel that other macbooks can make up the difference.

It would make no sense for them to announce new Macs now if they aren't shipping until August, when they just started the back to school promotion.

Edit: Well I guess there are other Macs to buy besides the Pro. Carry on.

You do know shipping would be about short 2 months away. Time to save for it if you are a parent or student. And we don't really know when Apple will release them. Just some more rumors.

There's something unclear for me with the OLED bar at the top and the POWER button, which might be part of the bar.

What if for some reason the bar breaks (water, display fail, software freeze etc). How would you turn your MacBook off ? The hardware power key as it is now is safe to use, no matter what (doesn't break - it's solid as you can see). The power button on a display it's a bit risky...
"Hey Siri, shut down"

2 months that they aren't selling current inventory and 2 months where you could choose to buy something else. I'm not really arguing two months is a year. I'm just saying the report seems to imply some very odd timing.

I know we don't know when they are coming out. What gave you the impression that I thought we knew?

They could lower the prices of the current models and/or update the specs.

Some hope on the front page.

Well, I've been part of several "Waiting for xxx Macbooks" clubs over the years and this one is by far the most interesting. On the one hand, extremely reliable sources are saying no hardware at WWDC. On the other hand, vague supplier leaks and common-sense timing suggests they really should show something at WWDC. I don't think things have ever been this uncertain just 5 days before the event.

If nothing else, it's been a fun ride! :D

Does it bother anyone else that E3 press conferences are parallel to WWDC?
yes, though I though e3 stuff starts tuesday, the day after the keynote

It easily might be Apples strategy to bully major developers to go to app store. Because.. Apple
true, but so does the other guys, Microsoft and google

Unfortunately, that key is quite frequently used by developers.
(~ being home dir in terminal and ` for wrapping expressions in bash scripts, etc.)

While it will make some people slightly happier, some others won't be..

yep

What about something like this then?

lol, i could live with that.

There is hope! Though I don't think Gurman has ever been proven wrong before, but I guess there's a first time for everything. This new rumour does link nicely with the production photos and hinges orders.

The article mentions MagSafe 2 which is interesting - could be a sign that MagSafe is indeed coming... or that they're completely wrong. Not sure which to believe.

between this and the front page, my faith is restored!! i hope so much to see new rMBP in a few days

Because that'd be silly? Cease manufacturing current Pro, put Skylake and nothing else in the same chassis, sell it for 2-3 months, and then cease manufacturing, release redesign.

They did it in the past with the cMBP... They can continue to sell the old models at a lower price.

I am so confused 13" and 15" airs??

we could have the 12" 13" 15" ultra portables, called just macbook. or some of them called macbook air

then 13"/15" or 14"16" pro models, thicker, more ports, etc, macbook pros?

That isn't what happened though. They kept selling the Macbook Pro without retina display, but it was updated at the same time of the release of the retina Macbook Pro as a cheap alternative. It wasn't released as a flagship product and then quietly shoved under a rug two months later.

nostalgia is kicking in.
i start to miss the good old air, it will be reminded (by me) as the longest living and best designed laptop apple ever made.
if they just added a better/bigger display (narrower bezels) and kept the lower half as it is, i would buy one in an instant.
