It would make no sense for them to announce new Macs now if they aren't shipping until August, when they just started the back to school promotion.
Wait. So you are saying that they shouldn't announce them until September?

I was implying that they won't announce them until later, without specifying a date. I backtracked a bit though in my edit. My idea was that announcing new MBPs that come out in August would hurt sales for two months, right in the middle of the back to school promo. But maybe they feel that other macbooks can make up the difference.Wait. So you are saying that they shouldn't announce them until September?

Edit: Well I guess there are other Macs to buy besides the Pro. Carry on.
And in the end, none of these groups will be fully satisfied
"Hey Siri, shut down"There's something unclear for me with the OLED bar at the top and the POWER button, which might be part of the bar.
What if for some reason the bar breaks (water, display fail, software freeze etc). How would you turn your MacBook off ? The hardware power key as it is now is safe to use, no matter what (doesn't break - it's solid as you can see). The power button on a display it's a bit risky...
2 months that they aren't selling current inventory and 2 months where you could choose to buy something else. I'm not really arguing two months is a year. I'm just saying the report seems to imply some very odd timing. You do know shipping would be about short 2 months away. Time to save for it if you are a parent or student. And we don't really know when Apple will release them. Just some more rumors.

I know we don't know when they are coming out. What gave you the impression that I thought we knew?
They're definitely not updating the specs of any model that's about to get discontinued because of a hardware redesign. They could lower prices maybe. They could lower the prices of the current models and/or update the specs.
Some hope on the front page.

And you are so sure because....
yes, though I though e3 stuff starts tuesday, the day after the keynoteDoes it bother anyone else that E3 press conferences are parallel to WWDC?
true, but so does the other guys, Microsoft and googleIt easily might be Apples strategy to bully major developers to go to app store. Because.. Apple
Unfortunately, that key is quite frequently used by developers.
(~ being home dir in terminal and ` for wrapping expressions in bash scripts, etc.)
While it will make some people slightly happier, some others won't be..
What about something like this then?

There is hope! Though I don't think Gurman has ever been proven wrong before, but I guess there's a first time for everything. This new rumour does link nicely with the production photos and hinges orders.
The article mentions MagSafe 2 which is interesting - could be a sign that MagSafe is indeed coming... or that they're completely wrong. Not sure which to believe.
Because that'd be silly? Cease manufacturing current Pro, put Skylake and nothing else in the same chassis, sell it for 2-3 months, and then cease manufacturing, release redesign. And you are so sure because....

That isn't what happened though. They kept selling the Macbook Pro without retina display, but it was updated at the same time of the release of the retina Macbook Pro as a cheap alternative. It wasn't released as a flagship product and then quietly shoved under a rug two months later. They did it in the past with the cMBP... They can continue to sell the old models at a lower price.
I think the air is either dead, or is just turning into the rMBVery odd report that. Gurman said the Air is dead. Somebody is wrong.
