They're definitely not updating the specs of any model that's about to get discontinued because of a hardware redesign. They could lower prices maybe.
From what I remember of past performance we will see a price drop a couple of weeks before the new ones come out.

No chance they do anything to the Air that people actually want. An Air with Skylake, beautiful screen, up to date ports; give me one reason anyone would ever buy a Macbook. The lovely new thin keyboard? The single port?
MBA might limp along for another year or so but at most it will get a small processor bump. Give them what they don't know they want.....

Itch, what itch Sheppard?
For a new MBP!! In all seriousness, I bought my 2012 15" rMBP just after launch and there was the same conflicting rumours until a couple of days before. Although it's running just like new, I wouldn't mind trying out a 13" and see if I can adapt to a small display.

It would make no sense for them to announce new Macs now if they aren't shipping until August, when they just started the back to school promotion.

Edit: Well I guess there are other Macs to buy besides the Pro. Carry on.
You don't think it would be smart to just have the promotion for the older macs and pre orders for the new systems starting july? New systems don't get the promotional deals. Seems like a good business strategy to me to get rid of some old stock

Polaris 11 has not 10 but 20 CUs. If it is 10 CU design that means the GPU will be... rebranded Cape Verde.

Or semi-custom Chip made specifically for Apple.

Cool, 11 hours without checking this thread and there are 5 pages more with a lot of contradicting rumors.
:D
I want to believe in the MBP at WWDC.
Make it happen, Apple.

Somebody is wrong.
Yup. Definitely.

offtopic: is this thread the most viewed on MR? almost 2.000.000

make a guess how much it is when the MBP is finally revealed :D

Yay! This thread is right now the most viewed and biggest on MacRumors!
Can't wait to see it getting even bigger and crazy during WWDC!

Honestly, checking this thread has become a habit now.... If they announce new laptops I'll be happy because I need/want one, but at the same time I'll miss checking here everyday :D
I'll feel something is missing once this thread is dismissed.

I have it as my (only) pinned tab in Safari - never used the feature before this thread!

A (admittedly very small) part of me hopes there is another few months left of this thread as it is often quite hilarious. Though the insanity may start to set in by then (hasn't it already..?) and we'll have to change it to the 'Waiting for Skylake MBP Asylum'...

I hope you are right. Do you have a solid spec for Polaris 11? I can't find anything.

There is zero reason for Apple to keep the MacBook Air name for updated Airs. They'll simply be called "MacBooks" and will therefore just be larger sizes of the 12" MacBook with upgraded specs and other small differences. It just makes sense. So we'll soon have 12", 13" and maybe 15" MacBooks and the older MacBook Airs will become the cheapies.

Dear God, let there be a revival of the "one more thing" at the end of this year's WWDC. I won't care if they spend an hour talking about watch bands if they end with a "one more thing" announcement of new MBPs...I don't even care if they're released right away. I just need verification via an announcement. I need closure.

PLEEEEASSEEEE!

You forgot to say Amen. You should say, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. at the end to finish off a prayer. Don't you want it to come true?

If no pros are released at wwdc this thread simply won't make it to whenever the refresh is supposed to be. Everyone used to be super chill and cordial, now you got people claiming to be insiders, people getting ansy over every little thing, ban hammers dropping left and right. You would think after all these pages we would stop arguing about dGPU , usb-c ports and "what about kaby lake?" but nope the only thing that changes are the page numbers and the participants.

If they are announced, expect 300 pages of jubilation and brotherhood.
