What are the chances that, should there be no hardware announced at WWDC, Apple® will announce the new rMBPs etc. at a special event before August?
It seems very, very strange to me that they would announce MacOS 10.12 but not any new hardware to run it on - at least within cooee of its announcement...
Apple is going to stop selling Macs and become a watch band company.

I honestly do not mind waiting till September, I just need one in time for school.

The trouble is that if they're not announced at WWDC, we'll probably have to wait until October - it's such a major update that they'll need stage time to announce it, but the September event will be too busy with the iPhone 7, Watch 2, software updates and maybe iPad Pro 2. Apple have so much to announce in the final months of the year that they'll probably need two events... and the new MBP won't be a priority compared to iPhones and iPads, which get much more publicity and better sales.

This is why I can't imagine anything but an update at WWDC. I don't really care what Ming or Mark says. I'm sticking with my intuition on this one right now.

if they wait until september earliest we would have them is october. If they held an event in october i don't expect them till closest to november. just seems too far out to me. 13" parts have been ready since march.

* 15" Macbook Pro with USB-C and Skylake and even better gpu that people want these days and more RAM

Serban leave us alone

If nothing happens on Monday it will be the biggest Apple event anticlimax ever
you forgot about the march event already.
i'm just saying, watch bands. ffs.

At wwdc, the worst we can get is (from most important to least, imo):
dev beta for MacOS
dev beta of iOS 10 (iOS X !!?!?)
other OSes i personally don't care about (i don't follow every single apple news)
renewed apple music
renewed apple revenue system for apps (let's not forget wwdc is a conference for developers!)
new APIs for whatever developers do
moar robots to recycle your soon to be old iP6
new Health stuff no one cares about, except patient with serious conditions, who IMO have better to worry than to get an apple watch. (i'm being sarcastic here)

one more thing:
big fyall we now sell cars lol

I'm really happy MBA is still talked about in the rumors. I'm so sick of people on the front page saying "Lol, the $1299 MB is replacing the $899 MBA."

A low cost of entry laptop is good, people. A refreshed (not even redesigned, to keep the cost low) 13" MBA with Skylake and retina would sell like hot cakes.

Of course it would, but why would then "anyone" get a Macbook?

If I were to guess most users are like me. Not a professional and not rich enough to spend unlimited amount of money on a computer. Before I spilled milk on my MBA the only thing I really didn't like about it was the screen. I don't even need Skylake. 13" with retina and I would have bought a new MBA a long time ago.

Don't want just one port and I really prefer 13 to 12 - hence why I'm not a Macbook owner (also don't like the idea of paying for the reduction in size which really has no value to be - never did I think the MBA wasn't portable enough).

Even if they do update the 13" with Skylake, I doubt they would ever put a retina display in it. It would cannibalize the MB, and they would never ever want to do that. They would keep that awful TN panel to encourage people to go for the MacBook. They simply aren't going to jeopardize the health of their future mainstream consumer notebook by keeping the MBA up to date. It would also encourage people to use ports that Apple wants to get rid of, like USB-A, which is no good in their eyes.

The MBA increasingly has no place anyways, especially since the next MBP is rumored to be thinner than it. So, I bet that Apple is either going to do nothing, which I think is likely, or they will do the least amount of work possible while using up the old display panels at the same time. Remember, this is the company that is willing to sell their 15" professional geared notebook with CPU's that are two generations old. If they think this is okay, they won't blink at selling the MBA with Broadwell until they discontinue it sometime in the early 2020's. (It's going to be the next 2012 cMBP I think).

what would they do with the 15" air then? if they add a retina screen will it cannibalize the 15" pro. if the 15" is real and has a few less ports with a skylake chip i think i might go for the air instead.
I think they will drop the air name and have MacBooks 12" & 15" and Macbook pro's 14" and 16"

I'm confused. There is no such thing as a 15" Air, nor is there any rumors or speculation of a 15" MacBook. There is speculation that there might be a 14" MB someday, and perhaps that's what you meant, but that's it. If there is another size of MB offered, current rumors seem to point to there being a 13.3" companion (mindbogglingly enough).

If there were to be a larger MacBook, I don't think it would cannibalize the 15" MBP because the people who usually buy that machine buy it for the increased performance a quad core processor can provide.

it seems that Air line will be rather discontinued because of sharing practically the same market as rMB. I can't see Retina in Air and having rMB on the other hand with almost exact specs. So my guess is there will be 12 rMB, 14rMB and two rMBP: 14" (in shape of 13" yet with thin bezels) and 16" (accordingly). So in my guess 2 lines with 2 sizes each. What would cover all needs. And I honestly don't think Apple would offer a cheap entry level laptop in form of refreshed Air. That would be below the par with other products.

so to sum it up:
12 rMB
14 rMB
14 rMBP
16 rMBP

People still keep mentioning 16", despite there being no rumour at all suggesting this. (If you have a source, by all means post a link).

A lot of these guesses where based on the leaked images and comparisons to the 13" now. but yes all of this is guessing.
