I doubt it. Kaby Lake is Skylake with some minor tweaks (and integrated TB3 controller).

Honestly I could care less for Kaby Lake. I just want a new Macbook Pro...

The question is...will the apple online store close before the event? It would give us some hope!

Oh that's perfect for a drinking game!
Thanks!

Im almost certain nothing is coming guys unfortunately.

Is there a chance that kabylake Windows laptops are on the horizon just as Apple updates there MacBook in Q3/4? That would be a blow to Apple, I hear Kabylake has some dramatic improvements, primarily GPU?

...sigh

@cmChimera I invoke you!

They may privately send prototypes to major companies like e.g. Adobe, AutoDesk.
Btw, shower time, classic shower toughts: MacBook Pros.
What if they're gonna do something like "the new MacBook Pro" super radical like the rMB, and in just a new variant 14 inches quadcore, no dgpu. They are going to upgrade the current line an keep them all like the rMB and the airs, so new MBP 14 and updated rMBP. Obviously the objective must be seen as: we are going to cut down our line of products but not all together. Dunno, let's wait some more hours and we will see.
Damn, 20+ hrs and just 4 Xanax left

Apart from the updates thing, how do you find the machines comparing? What kind of thing would make you reach for the pro instead of the Macbook? Which do you prefer? There can't be many people who have both of those laptops.

The Pro is noticeably faster...I usually keep a lot running in the background, therefore the extra memory and faster processor does help. If I am browsing the internet, email, messaging, I reach for the MacBook usually since it's a lot lighter. I know it's not "a lot lighter" but it's super noticeable. When traveling, I also pull the Macbook out to use. I do travel with the Pro, but do not use it if I am moving around or if size matters. The pro does run the programs and multitasks a lot better.

There are times I just grab whichever laptop is closer or charged more. I'd say about 50% of the time I grab the pro, it's out of convenience... I love the Macbook - there is just a limit to the amount of programs running at the same time.

Good luck tomorrow guys.

And good luck winning the jackpot Killawat. ;)

My "new" mid2015 rMBP is great and I bought it right on time. I am happy :)

Hopefully we will have some more answers, clues tomorrow. Or, heavy tendensies to reach for the xannies and booze..

TRAITOR!

I just caught up with the last 35 pages. I had a few exams last week so I couldn't afford to spend time on this thread. Now that I have been away for a few days, I can say that I actually didn't miss you guys as much as I thought I would... Sorry :D

We're almost there, only 17 hours left! (Remember when we were counting down from 60+ days!!) I think there is a small chance (maybe 15-20%) that we might get a MBP announcement tomorrow with release in August. Would be great if I can get the free Beats headphones from the back to school promotion together with the MacBook.

Just bought 10 megas for Tuesday. If I win the jackpot I will buy a 2016 rMBP for everyone who likes this post as long as your first post in this thread was atleast three months ago.
Well i did not post here 3 months ago, but I wish you all the best of luck.
Will you also buy the watchband Apple reveal tomorrow??

Has Apple ever released new macbooks during the back to school promo? It wouldn't make sense since the promo is probably designed to rid old inventory. That being said they probably won't even announce anything new tomorrow.

2012 rMBP redesign

I've already jumped out the ship and built a tower. I'm impressed of how insane fast it goes with M.2 storage (2,2-2,5GB/s reading and 1,5-1,6GB/s writing) and the lastest Skylake i7 6700k. No more noise, no more heat with heavy work, no more RAM limits... Hell, it even works with my both sound cards that didn't work with El Capitan despite having the drivers for 10.11 OSX.
So tomorrow I'll be watching Keynote with curiosity, just in case I want to replace my MBA for one of the new MBPs, but I definitely won't desperate if they don't release it or they mess them up, I'm already half out of OSX.

Did you build a Hackintosh? If so, what are the specs, as my Ivy bridge needs replacing soon. It's still powerful but runs a bit hot and 4K video starts this weird VTPCdecoderservice which uses 300% of CPU!

Do you use Windows, Linux or Hackintosh?

Sorry, I might have talked in a misleading way. It's running Windows 10, and it was my main idea, to get away from El Capitan and future OSX releases, since it's giving me troubles with audio soundcards and I don't want to be eternal stuck on Yosemite. That said, I'll make a new partition and install OSX to see if it works stable enough to work with, just in case I don't find Windows reliable for working (which surprisingly, I find right now).

I also hate to say this, but Windows 10 is the example of Microsoft finally doing something right.

Granted, gestures and a lot of the third party programs are the reason I still want a Mac though. The apps just seem more refined than PC apps.

The Kaby Lake Chips releasing in 2016 will not be suitable for a Macbook Pro. Intel does not just release every variant of a processor family all at once. Skylake chips started coming out last year, but suitable chips for Macbook Pro have only been available for a few weeks. It is extremely likely that the same will happen with Kaby Lake.

If you say my name 3 times in a mirror, I'll appear in the homes of users that ask about Kaby Lake wielding a Skylake CPU and an OLED touch bar.

The retina Macbook Pro.

For those who say WWDC has usually been software only, I forgive you if you are less than 3 years old because major refreshes were announced during WWDC - retina MBP and Mac Pro in 2012 and 2013.
They already released updated iPad Pros (9.7" version), MacBook Airs, and MacBooks. My theory was they wanted to get these items out of the way to have room to talk about the new MacBook Pros. To not release a TB3 laptop until the 4th calendar quarter would be an unpleasant surprise.
