So, the new iMac is out. No Thunderbolt 3. No Skylake.
Seams like Apple needs more time with its Skylake offerings. (Also would habe been strange if the smaller iMac was more modern then the big one).

Judging from the buyers guide it is not uncommon for MacBooks to come in February it seams…
Nope, all they want is to milk the most money from customers they can.

So this would be macbooks 100% for next year?

Yes.

Lots of convenient things come from the lack of availability.

Both the 21.5" and 27" iMac's are on the same release cycle now (regardless of the generational difference of the processor, they could both receive a mid-cycle bump at the same time in the future).

The 13" and 15" MBP can also be put on the same release cycle by merely waiting for all of the appropriate Iris Pro chips early next year.

Still using thunderbolt 2 and no usb-c in the new iMac. but the 21" iMac use broadwell and all of them use iris pro 6200
and the 27" use the skylake, and all of them AMD graphics.

So I'm guessing highly likely there will be new mbp in february / march 2016. But not sure about redesign.

The only change I could think for the new rmbp in 2016 would be usb c, Apple use skylake in the 27" imac but no thunderbolt 3 and also no usb c port. And when iris pro available for skylake, Apple could just update the innards and use the same rmbp shell since 2012.

Or Apple could do a redesign in late 2016 with smaller bezel, footprint, etc but with the same innards or slightly better configuration as the early 2016 model. Purely speculation, I hope i'm wrong.

Hope that they just wanted to get these out asap to grab their share of the back to college and christmas market and will come up with tb3 and usb c for their mpb line up. And - wishful thinking on my part - new 5K apple monitors with an egpu for the best of both worlds when owning an mbp.

what makes you guess that there won't be a rMBP update in the next couple of weeks?

Skylake Iris Pro. The 21" iMac uses broadwell so Apple could use the Iris Pro in the lower end config, I'm sure Apple would like the iMac lineup to use the latest processor from Intel. And I read that the Skylake Iris Pro will not be available until Q1 2016.

so what u r saying is that apple won't update the 13" models without updating the 15" models, the ones using Iris Pro?

My interest is always the 15" model, So haven't thought about the 13". The current 13" broadwell uses iris 6100, so I don't know if the skylake iris is available or not. My guess is Apple will not use dgpu solution for the 13" so it rely heavily on the igpu. I haven't heard any news if the skylake iris have launch or not.

There is no game. You just want it so much that you want to believe that there will be an update this year, no matter what is logic (i.e. availability of the skylake chip needed / leaks of part for upcoming redesign or what not).

I hate Intel now...
And Apple, we know all Apple, they like the Money like no other Company... so if they do a redesign in compare with skylake with the new Features like for example ddr4 they can sell it like so much better then the previous Version so they would sell much more like they don't make a redesign or not? Sorry for my english ^^

After reading these other posts I couldn't believe that there were/are people still expecting a skylake rMBP this year. In August I was one of those expecting an october announcement under the assumption that Intel was going to release every single skylake chip, Iris and non Iris, specially after the broadwell disaster. The question of if there is going to be a skylake rMBP this year was answered at IFA Berlin last September (hint: the answer is no). I find it ludicrous really. Honestly, can we just move on and start speculating about the 2016 release date, there's really no point in extending the suffering of some here. :p

P.S. I'll start. My bet is on March, or WWDC.

Edit : I almost forgot.
Where is our friend bfreek that claimed that he had a source inside apple, (conviently named *the source*) claiming that they were releasing a skylake rMBP this month. LMAO. *Oh and remember that everytime you want to add credibility to your statement you HAVE to use asterisk as parentheses*
