Thanks Tankmaze for your honest opinion if I do wait will it been a significant price difference?
Your guess is as good as anyone else's when it comes to prices.

Usually list prices on like for like equivalent models stay around the same as the outgoing model list prices. Healthy discounts will be available on the outgoing models. Sometimes the spec will be enhanced (more RAM, bigger SSD) and the price will not increase. Sometimes the price will drop like it did a few months ago with the iMac. Sometimes the price will rise significantly when a new and expensive technology is introduced, like when retina screens were introduced. It's a bit of a lottery.

Thanks n7g. What would be your suggestion in my prior post being its my first mac wait or get the refurbished?

Anyone else find it weird the ENTIRE MacBook Pro line is available in the refurb section. Every single 13" and 15". Can't remember last time I saw that while a product was still for sale.

In all seriousness, it's probably because there. is. nothing. that's. new. (yawn) ;)

Opinions will vary but if you are going to buy now I would personally only consider the latest 2015 models. They have significantly faster SSD drives.

I would not buy a refurbished product, I would try to find a new MBP with a healthy discount and full warranty. Again this is a highly personal opinion.

If you don't need to buy now, then wait, but be prepared to wait for up to 6 months.

I hear a lot of people saying that if Apple dont update their MBPs soon, people will jump ship to other vendors. I think this is as far away from the truth as possible.

Take the Pro user with a 15" (photographers for example), they might want the newest specs but trading a reliable Mac for a Windows machine? Highly doubt it.

Take the average user with a 13" (Playing music, checking Facebook), he doesn't care about specs and just wants a nice looking pc.

Sure, Apple has never been afraid to try new technology but also not waiting a bit to get it right.

66% of my macbook pro's died on me within 3 years of purchase (different models with GPU issue's). Reliable my ass.

Still using a mid-2010 MacBook Pro here.

Yosemite and El Capitan were wonderful upgrades in terms of speed and battery efficiency.

So, we are waiting for Skylake H processors with Iris Pro 580 for the 15'' MacBook Pro. Has the Iris Pro 580 already seen a release in any processor? I just stumbled across this page: http://www.intel.com/p/de_DE/support/highlights/graphics/intelhdgraphics580
And now I wonder: If Intel releases drivers and support documentation, the release of the product itself can't be that far away? And the 580 (4e, with 72 EUs and eDRAM) will only be integrated in Skylake-H, as far as I know. So maybe we will see the processors being released shortly, which will give us impressions of the performance of the rMBP.

That's tough luck man. I have late 2008 with dGPU and it's still working very well.

Ok so we have 3, over 5, laptops with dGPU still workin' well. So the ratio of broken laptops with dGPU isn't 2/3 (66%) but 2/5 (40%). Unfortunately the sample size's too small to draw anything. If MBPs aren't able to handle dGPUs, there should be reports, analysis, in plenty about that problem for that price (2,5K?! F*CK). Luckily, it's not the case... However, there are issues but they're exceptional (Perfection's not real) and FYI taken into account.

At work, I have 4 other people within 20m that either had a 17" GPU die on them or one of their friends. We all get them "working" for a few months at a time by doing the backing in oven trick when they break down.

Everyone treats their laptops differently. Some will never leave home, will be treated with extreme care and last 'forever'. Others will be slung into a rucksack every day, get thrown into the back of a car, bashed by fellow commuters etc. and treated roughly.

Fundamentally the MBP is a well designed, well constructed laptop made from premium components and materials.

Individual war stories about this MBP lasting forever or that MBP failing after a week need to be taken in context.

I can only speak to my personal situation, but i have only had one Macbook Pro a 2010 that had a full glass of water spilled over the keyboard while running over a year ago. Just recently had to replace the motherboard which was about $250 from the apple store and the thing seems brand new again. Still looks mint condition and runs great. During this same 5 year period i have probably gone through 10-15 PC's. I'm waiting on Skylake to upgrade but I'm sold on the quality of the Mac and the ability to spend a little to get it working like new again.

Remind me not to lend you a PC ;-)

Why are apple fans so against other companies and try to devalue them, it's like you must only like 1 company and that's it. I own a Apple phone/tablet/laptop(soon), Windows PC/laptop/tablet, Samsung TV/AC and guess what I'm still alive I have not been killed by an Apple assassin or Microsoft ninja, go figure. Why can't people be more like me and not fanboy one company but buy from all companies and respect them.

We should really get back on topic lol, I honestly hope they give us colour options with the new 15" MBP because one of the main reasons I haven't already got a MBP is because I honestly don't like the colour of it haha I know that seems a bit silly of an excuse but if i'm going to use it for years to come I would rather have it the way I like it (space grey) :p

We haven't seen any Iris Pro 580 around, so I think Intel doesn't release it yet.
About that page you linked, it isn't really that informative.
I didn't see any particular documents or drivers inside it, so probably it's just a common page for redirecting all Intel Graphic owners.
:(
Speaking of GPU, do you think that Apple is going to update the AMD?
Do we have some news about AMD?
Because for the moment, it's seems that the R9 370X it's the "best" one for the Mac, there aren't any choices except for that.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-R9-M370X.142763.0.html

Thought I'd share a minor thing I found with the current rMBP with AMD graphics.

In Boot Camp the R9 M370X switches to a low power setting when on battery (by default but this can be changed) resulting in a significant improvement to Windows battery life. I get predictions of 5-6 hours with light use in Windows 8.1 Pro, which obviously doesn't match OS X but is a lot better than the 2-3 hours I got with the NVIDIA 650M graphics under similar light usage scenarios. If you really need the full power and performance when on battery you have to manually switch a setting in the power profiles as it won't automatically detect load and ramp up its power, but I kind of prefer it that way.

For whatever reason Apple has not supported switchable graphics when running Windows so I always got terrible battery life with NVIDIA but this seems to compensate for the inability to use integrated graphics.

Given it's almost certain the Skylake rMBP refresh will keep AMD (Apple don't switch back and forth so flippantly, they tend to stick with the same vendor for 2-3 years) I thought some might find this useful. It was certainly a pleasant bonus to find in the current model anyway.
