I need a new MBP. What is the best alternative model out there right now?
Do we get Siri?
So I get no laptop in time for college, I currently own no Mac at all, and I have the whole summer with nothing but an iPad and a Windows desktop (that's got a bunch of problems itself). Woe unto me![]()
I'm in pretty much the exact same position. I only have an old Windows desktop for the summer, and I need a MBP for university in September, as I don't own a laptop. I'm probably going to have to borrow a family member's laptop for uni or something, but the MBP delay is ridiculous.
Thanks. Not helping as much as I had hoped though. There you go

Ok more seriously... so when the next Apple big Event we could get our hope destroyed?!
September Event?
Or maybe it will be iPhone-centered?
If I were a developer that shelled out $1500, I'd ask for my money back.
At this point, they should just put Kaby Lake processors in, skip broadwell and skylake.
Of course, they will put skylake processors a month before kaby lake is due and it'll be the "fastest macbook pro, ever..." magical marketing BS.
No, I'd ask for a free MacBook Pro 2016 Skylake. If I were a developer that shelled out $1500, I'd ask for my money back.
I waited to see if they were updated today, and since they weren't I went for the 2015 model. Good luck to everyone else!
Well, enough for today.
I'm going to have a bottle of wine and probably get seriously drunk.
Seeya in a couple of days, guys.
Stay hungry, stay waiting.
They are not paying $1500 for the keynote. They are paying for dev sessions and the ability to speak directly to Apple engineers as well as networking and building useful contacts.
Unless Apple announces the new MBPs at around April 2017-ish, Kaby Lake processors won't be imminent.
