This is my first post. I was mostly content to read those who can keep a pulse on this better than I. Does anyone know if the new MBP skylake or not will support more than 16GB of RAM? I'm not seeing how performance improvement for those who are memory intensive is accomplished in a meaningful way compared to the latest 2015 version. please educate me before I go buy a 2015 model at the stupid prices they charge. I think i will get the biggest improvement to an ssd and 16GB config, but not sure I can hold out any more. I should have pulled the trigger back in December. Its like I've been holding my breath for a year now, and only planned on being underwater for 6 months max. The air bubbles ran out.....

Officially from Intel the processors will support up 64GB of RAM. However, if RAM is soldered on still, as I would expect, everything will depend on what kind of options Apple gives you. I suspect they will give a 32GB option, but not 64. Though, who knows....?

My most likely guess would be 32, but not 64. I'd say there's a substantial chance of the limit staying at 16, though. Haswell was perfectly capable of supporting 32 (as it did in iMacs, actually), and Apple simply chose not to offer it in the MBP.

Definitely a non-zero chance of it staying at 16. Apple seems to love the number 16 as shown by their fixation on 16GB iPhones/iPads. The hope for 32GB is that 16GB DDR4 DIMMs are pretty reasonably priced compared to 16GB DDR3, making the higher capacity options maybe a bit more palatable. With the Apple mark up, 32GB for Haswell might have cost an extra $400, but now we might be looking at $200-250?

Again, how do you tell a friend to spend thousands on tech that's about to be replaced by far far far better? We're not talking about five bucks. Sorry, I can't endorse the current Apple lineup for the price. If they had lower prices, then maybe.

Yeah I was just comparing it to current competition. People are using terms like "ancient tech" even though the MBP 13" outperforms most others while still leading in battery life, touchpad, keyboard, etc. Not bad for ancient.

I agree it makes sense to wait for the 2016 model (unfortunately!) but the current MBP is still worth the money for those that can't carry on waiting for a new model IF it comes out in September and IF it's "far far far better".

1. Get a MacBook second hand from Craigslist/feeBay
2. Use.
3. Read Macrumours and when Apple has an upcoming Mac event (it must considering how long they're taking), then sell to the oblivious eBayian.
4. Buy Previous Mac.

You might like a Surface Book.
it's an option, but I have a Mac mini and maybe with some patience I could wait the new mbp :)

Ahh, the infamous NVIDIA GT 330M. Apple had a partial recall program for that, but it has now ended. See this article for some tips that might help the situation a bit.
Correct! Thx a lot for the article. I try to speak with apple about my problem but I did it so late (a few month ago)

Silly question: the current rMBP doesn't have Infrared port, so it doesn't support Apple Remote, right?
So neither the next amazing-shiny-when-the-hell-is-it-coming MacBook Pro?

Right. They may add official support for the Siri Remote because it works over Bluetooth. You can use it unofficially with BetterTouchTool, apparently.

Technology loses value over time. Simple fact that exists for every technology company, Apple is no exception. Yet the current MBPs are being sold for the same price as when they were released over a year ago. So, no, it's NOT worth what they're selling it for.

What is shown at 42:30? I can't download a 3.1gb video at work...
The demo guy tries to drag a button into the app but fails because his hands are too sweaty.
I think a track pad works good, but the people giving demos make it look so hard, pinching like crazy and stuff. It looks unnatural, while it works great.

It will be pretty sucky if we would have to buy additional cable just to do a initial sync for our iPhone with our in-the-future-macbook-pro assuming they do away with all the usb a ports...
