Soldering in RAM is not an Apple thing. It's a form factor thing. All other competing of laptops at that price point and form factor are also soldered in.

Well that's unfortunately not true. Mac mini was perfectly capable of having exchangeable HD and RAM back in 2012, the form factor hasn't changed, the innards don't take more space, just the hatch at the bottom of the mini was soldered shut and even IF you manage to open it, the RAM is soldered onto the board as well.

the Dell XPS for example offers full user upgradeability with the removal of only a few STANDARD screws.

That "soldered on and non user-upgradeable" **** is not as common as you might think, only in the thinnest of ultra-books it is, because of form factor. And yes that said I do get it with a Macbook (to a point) but Mac mini? Macbook Pro? You can even open and tinker around in your Razer if you want to...

With the replacement of the fn key's with OLED bar, I wonder how it will feel productivity wise. When I am using some of my programming tools I use a lot of the 'F' keys to do things like execute code etc, just hoping it doesn't feel too odd to go from typing on keyboard then having to press the OLED bar intermittently..

In addition, there are no rumors or leaks -.- Hard to be patient
This is what drives me mad.

We haven't had much leaks previously as well but updates were regular enough for us to always have a device which is either has just been launched or to be sure there will be a device in 2-4 months. I was not in a situation where time for upgrade came and there is no new enough device to actually upgrade.

Now such times started.

What is a Mac Pro Territory ?

That's a joke, look at the iPhone, nearly every week there are new leaks.

Thats how the rumors and leaks work, nobody can say that 100% confidently with their hand on their heart because even they are getting this rumored information from Suppliers who supply different parts to assemble Apple Products. What do you expect Apple to endorse all these rumors ?

I paid a total of €1181 for the 2015 one. The Apple price at the moment is €1449 and I expect it to go up. Perhaps the OLED bar will be so awesome it will make me want to spend extra €260 – or €360 – plus however much dongles cost... but I don't think so.
8gb/128ssd?

I'm settling in for the long haul.

Last week I transplanted my MBP 3,1 SSD into my wife's old MBP 4,1 early 2008) that had a dead HDD.

Now, I just ordered 6gb ram (a 2gb dimm died) from OWC for $100, 1tb SSD for $315, new battery for $89, and new charging cord for $90. Even if I end up getting a new laptop later this year, the SSD will still be useful.

I use Terminal.app, SSH (Escape key!), Windows software, and the Function keys generally frequently. I really don't think I'll be upgrading if the Esc/Function keys disappear as pressable buttons.

Erm XPS 15? Lighter than Rmbp 15, thinner and can change BOTH SSD and RAM.
The XPS 15, 21.5 iMac, and the way they updated the Mac Mini(Soldered the RAM even though there was no redesign.) leads me to believe that Apple would've eventually soldered the RAM even if the rMBP was still as thick as the old cMBP.
