The New Testament is the era after Steve Jobs death.

No, the New Testament started with Jobs' firing, his time at Pixar, his glorious resurrection back to CEO and the promise of the holy iPhone and everlasting mobile computing.

i think an apt analogy for the post-Jobs era is the letters of the apostles and the general spreading of the faith. Of course, some may say a better analogy is Revelations and the end of the world... But then again Revelations was an analogy itself for the suffering of early Christians against the Romans, which is probably right on the money for where we are.

Prepare for the dark ages... Which will last a few decades at least, followed by a tech Renaissance when we're all old geezers and our brains won't be able to keep up with the new stuff our grandkids will be using.

Erm XPS 15? Lighter than Rmbp 15, thinner and can change BOTH SSD and RAM.

THANK YOU!

THAT'S innovation. Anyone that denies Apple design decisions are PURELY to build in obsoleteness is either naive or has kool-aid circulating through their blood stream. Only reason I stick with it is for the software. macOS (IMHO) still trumps Win10 (for my Linux based job), but I'll admit that statement is getting more and more difficult to say with each Windows revision (especially with Windows including a Bash shell).

Nearly pulled the trigger on a brand new $1199 rMBP 13" on eBay (256/8) a couple days ago but stopped myself. Now today I'm seeing the base 15" rMBP for $400 off!

This is going to be a brutal wait. Must stay strong haha.

Went ahead and bought a laptop today at Sams Club because my other computer died today. They have a 90 day return policy for laptops so I'll have something to use until the mbp release if you know what I mean ;D. Don't @ me about ethics!

If rMBP 15 was €1000 I would stop waiting endlessly for updated laptop. Unfortunately it's twice the price here in Poland for the base line.

That only gives you til October third...I think we'll be all lucky if we have our new MBPs in hand by the end of October. Apple likes their Mac events in the middle of that month, and who knows what initial availability will be like.

This is either stupid or brilliant, can't decide which but here goes:

What if there is no technical reason that the new models aren't released before September? What if Tim Cook knows that the new iPhones will not sell well but knows there's pent up demand for Macs, so he's waiting to release the Macs together with the iPhone so that the revenues don't seem to suffer as much that quarter?

I don't want to believe it but it's the only thing that remotely makes sense anymore.

I'm guessing it's more OS support for the numerous new hardware features as well as the wait for Polaris.

That wouldn't be the most bizarre thing to happen honestly. I have an iphone 6 here and nothing I have seen in the leaks about the new one will make me bother getting it so far. I'm sure when they release it I will be swayed by some slick presentations but if the design doesn't change and the new camera is the biggest thing then I really don't care.

I assume there are a lot of people waiting for the new rMBP to be released so that should generate a fair bit of revenue. I have no idea how much of a difference that would make to offset low iphone sales. Not much is probably the answer though.
