Waiting till September for Sierra? Means not having to try and get new Macs running on El Capitan?

I think October alongside Sierra will be the release, but I don't think they are "waiting." They have released special builds of OS X for new Macs in the past. And I'd think that if they were ready, Apple would want to get them out the door as soon as possible for back to school season.

Hmm, I wonder how much their back to school sales are actually effected by new models. Could be that most students are just buying the latest available. And that those of us who really care will wait for the new ones anyway.

+ Intel Skylake and Intel Kabylake mobile processors are socket compatible. That means Apple can develop Skylake prototypes now, and can use Kabylake in Q3/Q4 2016.

Seriously stop! None of this is new news. And no Apple can not use kabylake in q3/q4 2016, because the kabylake processors for the macbook pro will not be available until mid to late 2017.

I'm a student it's terrible waiting for this new one since it probably won't even be out til after school starts. About to cave and buy a MBP 15

If the Skylake MacBook Pro ships with Touch ID, it seems likely that it will use a version of the Secure Enclave.

Will having the Secure Enclave bring Apple Pay support in Sierra without an iPhone? What are some other possible uses for it?
Apple just announced support for Touch ID for MacOS using iPhone. Why in the world would they add hardware like a fingerprint sensor and a chip for secure enclave when you can just use your phone? Not happening.

Mark Gurman seems to think it's happening.

I bet that the Touch ID for macOS using iPhone is just a compatibility measure for older hardware, and not the main thrust of the feature. Just like how Apple is now working on Force Touch alternatives for older devices. Obviously, they will not pre-announce macOS with support for built-in Touch ID without hardware to go along with it.

Kuo and Gurman, both extremely reliable, believe that TouchID will be making an appearance on the Mac. To add even more fuel to the fire, weeks after they discussed this, code references for TouchID (along with USB 3.1 support) were found within the macOS Sierra beta. So yeah, it's happening. Mind you the references that were found were not related at all to the Phone+Macbook combo you speak about.

Not everyone will own the new MacBook pro's, some will be using iMacs, airs, Mac mini etc - basically the idea is that such will exist on the OS itself. Does not mean the new rMBP can't have Touch ID.

Quoteception!

Your argument against Kaby Lake is what exactly!?

I do think that most regular users are not aware of new product coming , Skylake redesign etc etc... they just go to the apple shop and buy whatever model is there. thats what apple is counting on right now when clearing their stock of 2015 MBP's.

while in this chat it may seems everyone is holding back their breath for the 2016 model we need to realize we are a very small minority.

<Warning Useless Post Ahead>
I know I've lost my mind when my upcoming two week vacation 'expected highlights' include being distracted for two weeks (in Costa Rica) so that we are two weeks closer to getting the new rMBP... my Late 2011 is still hanging in (and is actually a little more stable since the logic board replacement couple weeks ago), though I'd REALLY REALLY like to retire it.

I'd recommend bagging a cheap used 2015 model, then sitting back and watching as the wait for 2016 goes endlessly on... followed by the rage and despair when it inevitably doesn't meet expectations. Then you can use your perfectly good 2015 until a fixed 2016 is available. It's what I'm doing.

or maybe opting for an older used MBR model? like the 2013/2014 while he waits? it make sense that the drop on prices will hit heavier on the 2015 model when the new one comes out.

Another newbie here that has been following this thread for a considerable time.

I recently gave up waiting and plumped for an upgrade to my MBP mid-2012 (non-retina). I was already maxed out with 16 Gb RAM but recently bought an OWC data doubler, stripped out the optical drive and replaced it with a 1 Tb Samsung EVO 1 Tb SSD. So now I have two HDDs in my MBP! The new SSD makes it feel sooooo much snappier. And the quad-core i7 is not so much slower even than the current 2015 model. I don't play graphic-intensive games so am not sure how the dGPU in there compares to current GPUs.

The path I am taking.
Every day I am less confident that Apple is still interested in its pro users and I am more and more worried that the new MBP take the same path of the MacBook/MacMini: an overpriced underpowered machine.
At least with the 2015 model I know that I'll get a computer that'll do the job. And if the 2016 model meet my expectation, then I will think to sell the 2015 and upgrade to the 2016.
I still remember how lucky I have been to buy a 2012 MacMini 2 weeks before they announced the 2014 model.
