How about we do cocktail recipes now? I think we all need a drink.

here's the perfect drink for the thread--the suffering bastard:

1:1:1
lime juice, gin, bourbon.
pour over ice in tall glass, then ginger beer to the top.
(ginger ale works in a pinch, but it won't be as good.)

it's delicious, and two should make you forget your woes.

i plan on drinking one this evening, as i unbox my NIB 2015 mbp 2.8/16g/1tb from ebay. ($2600 incld three years of applecare)

my 2010 mbp is tired, and i'm tired of waiting for the new one.

may be I'am a little bit naive, but I thought developer love new, fast and silent machines with all features available -- to develop the best software possible in their topic -- does apple not need no developer anymore or is it a lot of fun to work with old, outdated, ugly machines ?

The September event is usually in the first week of September. If it's a Tuesday, we're looking at September 6th. That's 476 days for the 15" and a whopping 537 for the 13".

Mark your calendars! Only two months from now!

And around 1,000 days for the Mac Pro.

Perhaps we are all waiting for USB-C with TB 3 to take off. I sadly noted there are no pro audio interfaces with USB-C / TB 3. So even if the 2016 MBP was out today, I'd have to buy an expensive and clunky Kanex TB 2 to USB-C / TB 3 adapter dongle.

Do pro audio interfaces need TB3 over TB2? If they're enough TB2 ones, what's the problem? I'm guessing things that would really use the bandwidth would be the ones most desired (eGPU, eHDHD, DAS etc)

I think we'll be waiting another month.

Historically, Apple likes to do the iPhone event in September and a Mac event in October. iPhone and maybe new iPad Pro / Minis and a new watch would be almost too much on its own. With all the Macs due for an update I think it'll be a separate event later. They are going to want to have some quality time to have Ive gush over the new Magic Touchbar.

It won't though. Nobody is going to buy an iPhone specifically to unlock their Mac!

Then why require the watch to unlock? They can make it work just as easily with the phone too, but that won't help sell watches. They have SOOO many iPhone users that can leverage that. Limiting it to the watch is purely to sell watches.

I think that's venturing into conspiracy theory territory. I suspect the real reason is boring: it's watch-based because it wouldn't work nearly as elegantly with an iOS device. Because a watch is tied to your wrist, it's pre authorized so all you have to do is be next to your Mac. For an iOS device to work, you'd have to take it out of your pocket and put your thumb on the button, at which point it would be faster just to type your password.
Apple Pay is different because although it requires some of the same steps, it's still faster than inputting credit card information, as well as being more secure.

This thread has gone on for so long that every possible topic seems to have cycled and repeated at least once.
This post made me think about what I'm doing with my life.

We need a new insider now that Serban [*] is no longer here with us :(

As an Apple Engineer Analyst, I can tell you that the lastest insider analyst news is, that the Macbook Pro is going to be announced in November and available in December with Kaby Lake. (In line with the mobile H chips being available from week 51->week 3'ish 2017*).

*According to Intel.

Could be worse, though.
Imagine being one of the boys over in the Mac Pro section of the forum. :(
The saddest part is that they don't have our amazing thread for chilling and waiting

...oh god.
I had so many hopes in Cannon Lake. :(

Isn't the one and only reason for Mac Pro's existence so they can say "aha! we actually assemble something in the US!" though?

My hubby's iMac 2011's hard drive is starting to click and generally sound worrying. We are so not buying a €2500 iMac. Give me SOMETHING, Apple. Like a Macbook Pro that we could connect to the old iMac and use it as display.

It will be interesting when (if) Apple ever comments on the rationale for waiting so long with the new MBP.

I'm starting to think they will skip Skylake completely.
Well I am sure they have a valid reason, be it supply of parts or running into issues during testing which had to be fixed. Not ideal but what can you do... The idea they are doing it just to annoy is bizarre at best -_-.
