Eh, most people would be fine with a MB.And almost no one should actually buy the MB...
But the watch is only authenticated when you have your phone unlocked or you enter a password on the watch.
The EXACT same thing for the phone.
Even if someone stole your mac and phone it wouldn't auto unlock without TouchID or passcode(similar to apple watch unlock(just not touchID)). re-think that again

Now every mac, except the nMB are with "Don't Buy" status![]()
And in about two months, the rMB will go "yellow" 'cause Intel will be shipping Kaby Lake core-m processors.
..... Asus and Intel both know that intel will not be shipping MBP baby lake processors til 2017Good that you know more than ASUS and Intel together.

Then why require the watch to unlock? They can make it work just as easily with the phone too, but that won't help sell watches. They have SOOO many iPhone users that can leverage that. Limiting it to the watch is purely to sell watches.
Can they? Do you know that for a fact or are you just assuming?
Craig Federighi explained some of the security involved in the auto unlock feature on the Talk Show after WWDC it uses a system whereby it calculates the time it takes for a wifi signal to travel from the watch to the mac. Security is obviously a priority perhaps they don't want to enable unlock via touch ID because current Mac hardware lacks the secure enclave found in Touch ID enabled iOS devices.
Don't think it's compatable with skylake.New Macs getting Intel Optane XPoint for SSDs/Fusion drives/DIMM memory?
Anyone thinking they might get it if we're waiting till Q4?
Don't think it's compatable with skylake.
I googled Optane XPoint and in a comment section that was talking about it there was a whole thread of people talking about it not supporting it so I assumed they were right. That's why I put "think" in the post. You had a 50/50 shot of being right...

Google is your friend. Check it before guessing next time.
HOW? How would a person that stole your computer use your phone with a password protection to get into your computer? Not the same. The Watch is authenticated all day while its on your wrist. With the same for functionality the phone would pose a significant security risk if your devices were stolen, or it would not be proper auto-unlock if you have to unlock-with-TouchID.
In order to turn this thread into true performance art we should just start pretending the new MacBooks were released - like we've gone insane. Write up glorious details on them. Design fake product pages. Email Tim Cook and Phil Schiller's Ass ("can't innovate my ass") raving about the new products. Post reviews.

Yes?Wrong
lol what's funny is that the moment Apple comes out with something new, even if it's mediocre, a productivity-reducing reskin or a rehash, all of you posting about neglect will get collective amnesia... until they do the same thing again.
