House got burgled in May. Fully specced 2012 Mac Mini, monitor, games consoles, the lot. All gone.

So I put that insurance money and some savings towards a new 13" rMBP, figuring that the laptops would be out already.

Currently using a Dell Windows laptop in the meantime.

Kill me.

Ummm what? Everything he "predicted" had been previously said...he just regurgitated info from trusted sources and maked up stories about his three prototypes (very convenient right?). You know...so he could always be correct whatever the outcome. You should really go back and read what he posted, cross reference it with articles at the time, then you will realise why he was banned. That vermin deserved the ban hammer. Good riddance.

You have to admit it was funny to have that buddy hanging around and mocking with us!

Do you guys think September-Lake will be released before the new Skybook or after?

Cant decide

Nah, more probably the MacBookLake will be September in Kaby-Pro.
Or not.

"Oh my god, I can't believe you're still dumb enough to use our products to create software to sell through our store for other users of our products."

That's what I heard, anyway...

Agreed. From what I could tell, he was a nobody with no life but lived here on macrumors and annointed himself the 'insider', and loved the ego boost that gave him when people actually acted like they thought he really was connected.

Good riddence indeed.

I think this is how most people (me included) are getting to, with all this wait.

What really got me was when he promised everyone a private showing if they PM'd him or something. And then for a day the forum was blown up with "add me" posts. Given he honestly had nothing to show, you have to wonder what was going through his mind in that moment. Was he afraid? Hoping against hope that he might stumble upon a rumor we wouldn't see?

Also, what happened for those who had him "add" them? Was there any communication or did nothing ever materialize?

Ah, memories. One way or another, this thread is nearing the end of its lifespan. It's been... a decent time-waster if nothing else.

I think he was doing it more as a social experiment than anything else. He must have enjoyed the power he had over us rumour-hungry, information-deprived Apple junkies.

And nearing the end of its lifetime or not, I think this thread has bonded some of us for life. We'll always be the skylake brother(and sister)hood.

Apple wont show off anything in September/October. I'm beginning to think early next year is most likely :(

I've been reading for the last 150 pages, but just signed up to say no to that. Had my briefcase with my mid 2010 Mbp stolen and my insurance is giving me until November to replace my old Mbp with another laptop around 2600. I want to work on music, but the gaming laptops and Xps have battery life, os, and trackpads that still can't compete with the Mbp.

...What truly irks me are the "Vote with your wallet. Jump ship." people. They say that over and over again, why not just do it and stop talking.

I did. And I mostly stopped talking. Now that I've finally gotten my laptop (MSI 62 "Apache" gaming laptop), I am even mostly ok with my choice.

Win 10 is ok, fairly usable (after I swapped the alt and control keys so that my keyboard shortcuts are the same between my work iMac and the MSI laptop.) It's a 15" widescreen lower rez display, which seems ugly at first but then it is fine after a few minutes. AND it's a matte finish, something that Apple doesn't deign to do any more. I had forgotten how nice it was to have a matte finish screen, it's worth the lower rez to be able to see without reflections when I sit by the window. The build quality is only ok. Buncha plastic, but lighter than its larger size would indicate. The keyboard is a bit mushy, and the track pad is frankly unusable after using Apple's. I'll be using a mouse anyway, so I don't mind. Well, not too much.

Little things irk me most - lifting the lid, the hinge for the screen is too tight and picks up the body of the machine before letting go and allowing the hinge to operate. I really, really, really hate that the machine doesn't automatically turn on and go to the home screen or last used program. Very bad.

The machine was a good deal. Blindingly fast, good for games. I mostly use it for WoW, and I can peg the graphics at max and have 60-70 FPS. That's great. But I would've rather had the Mac, I think. Too bad there wasn't one!

It's not an Apple machine. It's definitely a compromise for me. But I couldn't NOT vote with my wallet after this long of a delay. The problem now is sticking to that decision after the new rMBP comes out! I love Apple's gear and I will be sorely tempted... :)

So yeah, I am guessing Sept. 12th right?

Remember the old days? You get on your computer and the first site you typed in was "apple.com", "return", (or changed home page from startpage.apple.com, to apple.com) looked at the pages for something new, then on to the rest of the net.

Nowadays, it's fire up Safari, "m" + "enter", or "ap" + "enter" :D

My how things have changed...
