Can we just let Serban back in? He was pretty much spot on for what he thought. Still don't know the reason he was banned

wow, almost 800 pages long... I've been holding for a new top of the line Skylake MBP for years now... Come on, release the Kraken !

Does anyone have an idea about the price of the next generation of MBP ? Can we hope that Apple keep the same pricing ?

Seems unlikely to me that they will keep the pricing the same. After a few spec updates it will drop down to current prices, but I doubt that they will redesign the MBP and release it at the current price. :(

Well if the i5/256/8 config is more than €1700, i will buy a Windows laptop lol bye.

Never mind, I just extended the life of my MacBook Air (Mid 2011) by at least another year, by ditching Chrome and returning to Safari. I prefer Chrome's cross-platform integration, but holy moly I didn't realise it was so squarely Chrome to blame for my terrible performance and battery life and constant high speed fans. It's like a new Mac again!

I am increasingly convinced that the hold-up at this point is Sierra. It's something dumb, like the OLED bar can't work without Sierra, so they can't release at all until Sierra is out. I predict a MBP unveiling the same day Sierra is released. September.

Apple wont show off anything in September/October. I'm beginning to think early next year is most likely :(
The worst case scenario is that they release next year but then I have time to save up some more cash and get better specced rmbp :) silver lining..

I think it's Sierra too, but not just because the OLED bar; Apple Pay, quick unlock through Touch ID, and hey Siri will all most likely be part of the new line but each of those features require Sierra.

This has become excruciating, since the 2011 died, I am holding the fort on a 2008 unibody MBP with fresh install and new SSD (it was a surprise at how good that was but it has its limits) and an iPad Pro, but this is far away from ideal and boy is Numbers on the iPad is driving me nuts.

I also have 3 friends and colleagues also holding out for new MBPs after asking for my thoughts earlier in the year, I suggested holding off investment for the new machine, its getting tiresome telling them to hang on. Couple this to the sunken pound I am starting to think it is also going to be expensive wait too.

This better be effing worth it. I have now got the feeling the announcement is going to be along the lines of a reveal Sep/Oct and "available to order" in early 2017.

Apple will release Skylake in September and Dell + Asus will release Kaby Lake...
We are users devoted to Apple ecosystem, do you like been trapped in it ?!? :D

Kaby Lake is nothing special. It's an exception to Intel's "Tick Tock" releases of smaller microtransistors and new microarchitectures, opting for neither. It adds USB 3.1 and piles on more DRM (whoop de do), that's about it, it's a minor refresh.

Not worth postponing a new MBP for, and no need to feel like Skylake is suddenly chuggy and obsolete.

Maybe, Who knows... but we will see...

Actually if Intel follows the Skylake pattern of CPU/GPU layout in terms of TDP it's 99% certain because early CPU releases use weak GPU parts and habe a very small thermal envelope
So it will throttle most of time if you actually start to stress the CPU and/or GPU.

Not like this hasnt been discussed multiple times in this thread already.

Then again - not like we have anything better to discuss either
