We could see an early 2016 update but only for the 13 inch model. Maybe a redesign with 14-inch, but I don't know what to think about the 15 inch model. They could skip skylake and release a 16-inch 5k capable at 2017. What do you think?

January 2016 is the release date of the new Skylake 28w CPU with Iris Pro (rMBP 13). But there is no words about Skylake-H (rMBP 15) we only have HP's information and it says 1H 2016.
If it's delayed too much, it will be very close to Kaby Lake launch at Q3 2016 and only a few months from the KB - Iris Pro version (both -U and -H series) at 1Q 2017.
My guess...

This is absolutely ridiculous. Seriously, people need to read prior posts in this thread that have rehashed this topic many times over and stop speculating Apple will skip Skylake. It's not going to happen.
In September, Intel stated Iris Pro 580 chips are going into production in 2015. Even if that's delayed a little bit since (and there's not indication that it is), there's a huge gap between updating in 1H 2016 vs. 1H 2017.
Apple last updated the 15" rMBP on May 19. It's already been 185 days since then, and the average MBP update is 214 days. Even a Q1 2017 update would be around 550 days.
It's fine to speculate that Apple will act wildly out of character to its historic pattern, but then at least give a rational justification for why it should do so. If chips are available, what good reason would Apple have to let its flagship 15" MBP model stagnate for over a year and a half until Kaby Lake in 2017, especially since it's still on Haswell? What possible rationale do you have for even considering this?

Could you point where it says January? Or are we just going on the production date? It's an intel roadmap leaked about both desktop and mobile, there is even information about -Y series for the rMB and the expected week of release or the exact month in some cases.

Well... ridiculous or not it is a possibility. It had happend before in other products like the Mac Pro, completely abandoned, the Mac Mini, not only abandoned but downgraded to a dual core, the iMac back in 2011 with a 577 days before the las update, etc...
Reasons to do that? The main (not all) Apple user doesn't care about what he or she is buying, just buy it because it's a Mac, and that's why Apple can allow having a 2000$ machine with 2013 hardware without sells droping. Also if they go from 13 to 14 inch and a redesign... it will be more expensive. By not releasing the 15-16 inch until next year will force people to buy the new skylake 14-inch model which will be basically the rMBP 13 hardware, closer to the 15 inch price and a screen in between. I can see Apple doing that without any problems, and then releasing a 16 inch as a come back of high performance device with 5k offiicial support and a 5k thunderbolt display in the first months of 2017.
I hope they don't do that, but again like it or not it is a possibility.
Think about what you're saying. If Apple would like to push consumers from a lower price/lower margin 13" MBP to a higher price/higher margin 14" redesigned model, that would make total business sense. Instead, you're saying that Apple would want to keep the higher price/higher margin 15" MBP stagnant to force those prospective buyers to a lower price/lower margin 14" model. And you suggest Apple would want to do this not just for months, but for all of 2016. Why would any company want to do this?
Is your speculation a possibility? Technically yes, but only in the same sense that it's a possibility that Apple goes bankrupt next year or a meteor hits the earth and the human race is extinguished. If we're going to entertain every single craziest, most remote potentiality that makes no business or historical sense, then this entire discussion devolves into nonsense.
Since you've been a little mean I should ask you why would any company update a product to be less powerfull? Because that's what they did with the Mac Mini in order to not lose sells from iMacs. Or selling a core-m ultrabook without ports at 1400$? Or a top tier smartphone at 600$ with 16GB and no expandability options? Or a 900$ ARM tablet? And I can go on if you want, but that's not the point, belive it, I think very much everything before saying anything... and I get it, there are people here who love Apple, but the truth is they are far from being a charity company. Even the CEO says they don't care much about laptops because iOS is the future.
And that's the truth, Macbook Pro 15 it's completely obsolete with 2013 hardware, but people still buy it. And if it does, my scenario of a 14-inch skylake and the 15-inch stagnant until they sold the remain units like they do with the non retina MBP it's by far more possible than a meteor hitting the earth. Because my friend, that's called maximum benefit and that's what Apple's game is about.
And again, I hope we all see a Skylake rMBP 15 redesigned at mid 2016, but since that's a rumors / speculation thread and the only news we've got from Skylake-H with Iris Pro are not even from intel, but a third company technical sheet... well we'll just wait and see.
I'm sorry, I'm honestly not trying to be mean here, but you're not getting it. You're reinforcing my point. My point exactly is that Apple is a profit-driven corporation that will make profit-driven decisions, and that stagnating their most profitable model to push people to a lower margin model doesn't make rational business. All of the decisions you listed have a discernible financial motive. Putting the cMBP into update limbo? Made sense to push people to buy more expensive rMBPs. Sell iPhones with 16GB? Makes sense to push people to pay $100 more for the 64GB model.
But leave the most expensive/highest margin 15" MBP stagnant to push people to buy a lower margin 13/14" product? Doesn't make sense. If anything, Apple would have far more financial incentive to release an updated or redesigned 15/16" MBP first and keep the 13" model stagnant, thereby pushing the early adopter crowd to the higher revenue model. This is in fact exactly what Apple did when it introduced the rMBP lineup. It sold the 15" model first; the 13" came later. Companies know early adopters are willing to pay a premium for new products, and they will take advantage of that fact.

I hope there's one,'cause are very good and light workstations)tbh, I expect the rMbP 15 mid 2016... Look at the past release dates

The Dell XPS 13 and 15 both use Skylake CPus and have TB3 ports. IMacs have typically had mobile CPUs and unless there's a shuft, the 13" will only use a dual core with low repairability. If you want a laptop with high repairability, I'd stick with a Clevo based machine or perhaps a Thinkpad T.
iMac uses desktop 65w CPU.
From my point of view, the actual rMBP is a very repairable device, in fact that's one of the reasons I'm considering the rMBP over the Surface Pro, you just have to remove a few screws at the bottom and you can easily access the heatsink, fans, and HDD which are the components that use to fail or need more maintenance in a laptop.
i hope that they will release it this year too . I'm in huge need of getting a new computer and as much as i like the new xps i would love to rather get the rMBP but if it doesnt come buy january i would be forced to buy dellAny hope of the rMBP 2016 before the end of the year, or is it generally agreed there is 0% chance? For that matter, are any of the other Macs in line to get an update? Judging by the Buyer's Guide it looks like Apple has been pretty slow to update their Mac products. The iMac is the only Mac that's been updated in a while.

Q2 will be pain in the butt.@PFKMan23: AFAIK, the Skylake processors for the 13" rMBP aren't available until December 2015. The 15" rMBP gets probably updates in the Q1 or Q2 2016, and Kaby Lake one year later (Kaby Lake = Skylake v2.0).
Q2 will be pain in the butt.
Half a year and outdated.
Are they planning to change odds to evens? (13-15 to 14-16)I'll just have to wait.
How about the 14" being released in Q1, with the 16" released at WWDC?
That would take a lot of the supply-chain pressures off demand for Skylake chips.
And if it's true, 14in probably not going to fast as the 16in, maybe the quad-core i5, I bet.I'll just have to wait.
