Those are not mobile. But 35-ish TDP mobile Quad cores from Intel have already been a thing. For some reason Apple hasn't been interested in putting them into rMBP 13.
Main reason I think is that they believe most buyers of "Pro" don't really need quad-cores, and would react mostly negative towards the noticeably worse battery-life that Intel's quads currently bring. But that shouldn't have excluded it from a built-to-order option in my opinion.
I waited and waited for years for a 13-inch quad core to be released. Gave up. And since I just gave up I'm sure that the next iteration will have a quad-core option 😉
I am waiting for a 13" with a quad core. Not buying a new laptop without it. Mine is from 2013 so still fine and there is NO spec update other then a quad option that would make me spend another €2200
The newest desktop roadmap leaks says that GT3e (aka Iris pro 6200) Broadwell chips will launch at the end of Q2 this year. Cannot be long then. Skylake GT2 will follow in Q3. But the Broadwells with 6200 will not be replaced until Q1 2016 which is as far as the roadmap goes.
Therefore the Iris Pro Skylake chips probably are also far in the future and will come Q2 2016 most likely. Until then it is Broadwell but that should not be long now.
I think the people hoping for a 15" Skylake notebook anytime soon are out of luck.
I have read multiple people saying the MacBook has great speakers for the size it is. I personally haven't tested it out, I just have the 15" rMBP and the speakers are beyond amazing, clear sound with good base and I love the switching from each side when watching a movie that supports surround sound. My last rMBP didn't have quite as nice sounding speakers.I was wondering what people who own the rMBP think of the current speakers on the machine? I don't see the speaker grille on the 13 inch model but on the 15 inch the speaker grille is placed on either side of the chassis.
On the new Macbook the speaker grille is set right above the keyboard and gives very good sound.
The push for Surface 4 in a way is a good thing right?
If Surface 4 is going Skylake, and there are signs that this will be in line with Windows 10, so August - September time - doesn't that hint that Skylake-U (15W at least) will be out, so making likelihood of Skylake 28W with GT3e coming out at same time? (Not sure about Skylake-H, or under clocked Skylake-S - seems only some 65W have turned up so far.
The old Jan rumor at http://chinese.vr-zone.com/141850/i...ch-skylake-s-for-desktop-diy-market-01302015/ showed relative timings - Skylake S and U happening fairly close together.
Mac mini, MBP 15", iMac, Mac Pro...
That's a good point. If Skylake starts being touted in other brands hardware then it puts some pressure on to keep up with the neighbors.
Take these for for what they are worth but:
Both Asus and Dell have stated their more powerful notebooks will be going straight to Skylake. Dell stated this back in Jan/Feb.
There was a post on Notebook forums about the new 2015 Alienware 15" 4k notebook going to Broadwell later this year. AW support said they were skipping Broadwell and going straight to Skylake.
BTW: The 2015 Alienware 15" 4k notebook has a gorgeous display. I am hoping Apple offers a 15" in 4k. If you thought the 4K-Chimei-inn-60mbps demo (the mp4 version not the god awful YouTube version) was jaw dropping on the MBPr, it is simply amazing on the 15" 4k display. Those who said 4k is a waste on a 15" display haven't seen one in person.

According to this article just posted in the 'Waiting for Broadwell' thread, the answer to a June Skylake MBP is, No! bummer🙁
http://www.vcpost.com/articles/6482...h-macbook-pro-out-june-2015-broadwell-cpu.htm
I think Broadwell is fine, (not the greatest update in terms of CPU but Skylake will be the very similar to Broadwell (as broadwell was to Haswell) once Skylake is released...
Broadwell is the die shrink of Haswell, but Skylake is the redesign. That's why a lot of us are holding out for Skylake. I've seen it written that Skylake will be the most significant proc released by Intel in a decade.
I still think Skylake won't come because Intel will release the chips with the bigger GT3/4 GPUs much later and only start with the GT2 chips that Apple hasn't used so far. Skylake will have a staggered release just like Haswell and Broadwell. Everybody hoping for a Skylake notebook anytime soon would have to expect Apple to go for GT2 parts which they are unlikely to do.
It is the Broadwell GT3e parts that will be released soon and they won't be replaced by Skylake GT4e parts or the 25W GT3e part for a good long while.
