So guys, what is the next date we should look forward to now ? (if there is even one at this point)...

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say mid/late October, maybe around the 20th

I haven't read the last 40 pages, but the AirPods were announced as launching in 'late October'.
Usually when Apple announces a new product or service with an unknown date, they then reiterate and announce the date at a later event, do they not? It wouldn't make sense to just update the webpage with a release date and expect someone to notice.

So, it seems logical to conclude they're planning an event of some kind to be held before late October.
I'm putting my money on the week of the 20th.

slightly OT:
apple should introduce the male version of Siri: Jony.
- with the voice of our favorite product designer.
- a special algorithm picks ever new adjectives and synonyms, so you are never bored of listening to sterile road directions
- with his calm voice, it will help you relax at the end of the working day while offering to to things for you, thanks to integration with HomeKit.
- it's the best product we've ever made.
- we think Jony would be proud of himself.

what do you think he would say? let's laugh together!

2015 had three events: March (Spring Forward), June (WWDC), September.
2016 so far: March (Apple Special Event), June (WWDC), September (Nike+ Bands and 5-hr ear tampons event).

So I wouldn't hold my breath until March 2017. I am surprised, though, that there was no quiet update to iMacs at least. They STILL come with a spinner drive.

Maybe that OLED thing is playing up? Which would explain the MBPs, but not iMacs.

To wake up Joni, say "OK Aloomeenyum".

This is a good point. Apple Watch Nike+ and the iPhone 7 Plus camera system are also penned for October/later this year. Now with the third gen Apple TV being pulled from the shelves, a newer version may be looming as well. iOS 10 and watchOS 3 both had shiny new hardware to show off. Hopefully we'll get the same for the macOS and tvOS!

Great, now I need another support group from sitting through that Sia performance.

Kind of ironic that they were talking about going wireless. How are people with Macbooks going to use those new headphones? The iPhone 7 is coming with a lightning to headphone adapter, so are they going to sell a USB to lightning adapter for Macbook users now? Do they want people to carry around two different sets of headphones or two different adapters? If they were serious about going wireless, they would have included Airpads with the new iPhones.

And even their new charging dock for the iPhone. It has one Lightning port for your charger and one 3.5mm for your 100-year-old analog headphones. No place for your brand new digital Lightning headphones :D

Could we have an event early next year ? Or do you think apple will have the nerve to present Skylake machines in October 2016? Or maybe 13 MacBook pros with kaby lake and 15" with skylake ... So many questions

in the history of apple events.. was there one on December or November before? if not I think it's either Oct or nothing in 2016 right

I think this will happen in october:

Release of Sierra and macOS.

Event with:

Upgraded Macbook air, mac mini, mac pro, IMac and apple tv. (maybe new display). Then, ONE MORE THING

Macbook Pro with amd gpu, kaby lake processer, new displey. Release date start of desember or late November.

That's not true!!!

macOS Sierra is getting released on the 20th September. So i guess, that Apple will hold another keynote in the 3rd or 4th week of october. We have to accept that and we all know that the wait will be over then.

One thing that i want you to know. I've heard, that Apple will get a specialized Version of a Kaby Lake Processor. Due to the lack of a proper iGPU from Intel with Kaby Lake, they will make a customize chip for Apple that featured the IRIS PRO 580 but with doubled eDRAM and the AMD Polaris GPU. If you look at the Notebook market, you are not able to find a released notebook that has the IRIS PRO 580 in it.

Could Apple just release the new MBP with a press release? Do we really believe they need to hold an event? I felt that if they wanted to release or unveil at an event, they would have done so yesterday.

Apple has to be embracing lightning for their entire lineup. No one will buy lightning headphones if you can only use them on one device. However, at this point, no one should really be purchasing wired headphones. Make the investment. Especially if Apple Pencil comes to the Mac. You'd stick in the side of your Mac to charge. I know people would riot, but the thing takes minutes to get hours of charging, so deal with it. They have plenty of space on Macs and iPads, so I'd imagine there is no reason to remove the headphone jack, at least for a little while. The iPhone is a really tight space, so this kind of compromise had to be made.

The iPhone 8 has to come with wireless charging. But how would that work in the car? Or all of these people who are listening to wired headphone music and charging at the same time, if the phone has to be sitting on a wireless charging dock, you can't really use your phone if you're chilling in bed or on the couch. In this interim process, people just need to prepare. Charge your phone overnight. If you have a long drive or something, be prepared. It's not optimal, but its certainly livable.

I also didn't realize how affordable a Bluetooth adapter for the car is.

All headphones are analog.
The DAC (digital to analog converter) before the headphones is what converts the digital signal into analog audio which is then pumped to the headphones. All Apple have done is take this DAC out of the iPhone and made it so we need a DAC outside of the iPhone instead.
The 3.5 audio jack socket is a better connector design for audio than the lightning socket. It is more secure and more reliable. Moving to the lightning connector for audio is not a step forwards.

I have that Anker one. It's pretty good. The only problems are, the mic is awful, so it doesn't work with Siri. And if two of you use the car, it has no way of knowing which phone you want paired.

Not if it is not ready yet ... :(

In 2014, Apple held a September 9th event where they released the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

A few weeks later, they sent out invitations for a new event, which took place October 16th.
During this event, they released the iMac 5k.

I believe we will se something similar this time around, and probably with some leaks popping up along the way, especially since Sierra will release, and people will find clues about upcoming hardware hidden in the system.

Those are ALL my watched threads with new posts:

Yeah. Now that I think about it... with Sierra coming Sept 20, there's no way they would release it before then. True, they could have announced it... but aaahhhh whatever.

To chime in re: the wait and W10 options and all... I picked up a cheap little light W10 laptop (an ASUS ZenBook) to hold me over for mobile emailing and internets-ing and the like. W10 is fine. I prefer OSX as I'm more used to it and things like Text Expander and the ability to send texts easily via the computer I find myself really missing. I've always be a pretty ambidextrous computer user tho. (I started on Commodore machines...went to the PC in the mid 90's...to Mac in early 2000s..but always had a PC around to run Quicken and do vintage hardware work...) Fortunately, I'm not in a position where I absolutely have to run Logic on the road at the moment, so the wait won't kill me. If something came up, and I had to lug my 2008 MBP somewhere again... well... that very will might. ;)

Added bonus w/W10 Laptop: It runs Skyrim well enough to enjoy it. ...and I have been.

That said, I STILL CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW MBP.

That is all.

I suggest a novel approach. No "Event". Just update the damn hardware lines when they release MacOS mk II.
