My rMBP15 from mid 2012 is doing fine *knocks on wood*. Other than the image retention issue that was there from the start, there's hardly anything to complain about. It doesn't even feel that old, except for those moments when I try to work on 2GB+ files in Photoshop.

Alas, my good old matte Cinema Display stopped turning on a few months ago. I've been stuck on a 15 inch screen that's just not enough for what I do, yet I refuse to buy a new one without knowing what my next machine will be. It would be stupid to use a 4 year laptop as a reference.

I think I've come through most stages of grief by now and settled on borderline indifference. I'm not even sure I'll be buying an MBP anymore – I'm actually considering an iMac + rMB combo instead. But iMacs aren't released either and I need to know my options before I make a final choice.

So I'm not even sure what I'm waiting for anymore but checking this thread has become a habit by now, so here is my modest contribution to that 1000 page project.

WE WON'T GET KABY LAKE.
KABY LAKE MBP-SUITED DON'T EXIST. THEY ARE NOT EVEN LISTED.
APPROPRIATE SKYLAKE CPUS FOR MBP ARE ALMOST NEW, EVEN IF A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE "OLD".
THEY ARE NOT.

Sorry for screaming, it's the booze.
I'll go to bed.

:):D

As people were saying we will probably hit 1000 pages around the start of October, which is exactly when invites for the October event will go out.

Those two guys on the 9to5 Mac podcast were saying that they think it will be next year now

I just listened to that as well. I'm really bothered by Zac's "ums and uhs." Once you pick up on it, you can't unhear. Where are they getting January / March? Every rumor is pointing to October / end of the year. "Overly optimistic to expect this year?" Zac says, yet that doesn't line up with anything 9to5 is reporting.

I don't think we'll get too much key travel if this leak is true. It's an old leak but if you look st the depression made for the keyboard area, you won't find it very deep. Meaning the keys can't come out of the holes that much without hitting the lid in clamshell, so low key travel.

I think it's safe to say that the new MacBook Pro's will have similar key travel to the new Apple Magic Keyboards. I'm typing on one right now and yes, there is less key travel then the original Apple Wireless Keyboard (and the current MacBook Pros we have right now), but unlike the rMB, which I also own, there wasn't really a learning curve when switching from the apple wireless keyboard to this magic keyboard.

Therefore, go to an Apple Store and try it out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I've used it before, definitely better than the MacBook's keyboard in my honest opinion. I would be relieved if it was more similar to the magic keyboard.

I nearly caved yesterday and got a rMB. I actually think it'd do me, but I want to get into xcode. The wait is breaking me. :')

It's tough. I bought both a Macbook Pro 13" ($1000) and a Macbook Air 13 ($750) back when best buy was having their EDU sale. Dwelled on it and took them back a few days later (unopened so best buy was cool).

Would've been a massive upgrade from my current gear but have to stay strong for TB3.

Feel you, buddy.. I have bought an rMB in August which I planned to own for a few days and then resell online for the same price, just so I could feel how it is to have a new Mac..

TB3 is what I'm holding out for. It'd be nice to have a 13" or 15" with an eGPU for when I needed it.

I woke up this morning and what did I see? (3 days worth) 5 new pages looking right at me! Yea!

But on another note, after reading the 5 pages, it comes aware to me, that as far as you guys talking Kaby Lake, you better HOPE Apple doesn't put Kaby Lake in the new rMacBook Pro, and dwarf it like they did the MacMini last refresh. That was an outrage. Because to reiterate they only have dual-core, I hear. And yeah if they only make a dual-core rMBP that would SUCK! (they did it with the Mac mini)

On another note, if ever hear of how great Windows is this is my story:

I have a USB3 64GB Flash Drive, with Windows 7 installed on it. So I figure ok time to get the Windows 7 Bootable Flash Drive, I made, updated, right? So I already had SP1 (which took 2 days 2 years ago), and I had to do a patch of sorts so I could do the "Convenience rollup update for Windows 7 SP1", I get that done, TIME: 12 hours. Now that I am caught up to May 2016, I try to get any more updates to get me 100% current, I run Windows Update: Time 48 hours later it's still checking for updates! I just completely GAVE UP. So my Bootable Windows Flash Drive is current up to May 2016. The only thing to do is to wait for the next connivence roll up, and download that separately and install manually.

Time to create macOS bootable flash with all updates 3 hours. But here's the argument, oh but Windows 10 is so much better, but in my life, it's always: "(whatever the next version of windows is) it's so much better than (the last version)" and "I use the new version I will never go back to (the previous version) Window 7" yada yada. You know it comes down to who has more excuses, really I guess...

If anyone ever tells you all Apple Hardware is just a toy, just tell them 99% of Microsoft Software is just a toy, except ONE program, and we all know which one that is: Excel, the only program MS has any leverage with. And as far as Apple Hardware, a Ferrari F150 is a toy too...

What day exactly is MacOS coming out? Edit: September 20th, 2016. I wonder if there will be any updates before or shortly after then.
If you are in the Beta program (or developer) you can get the GM. The GM version is usually the version designed for release on Machines made at the Factory. It's pretty much the final version barring any kinda patches needed. But it's fully upgradable to 10.12.1 or any other updates before that. It's nice to get that, so that way tomorrow when you upgrade your AppleTV, iPhone, or iPad to "TEN" all your machines will be in LINE... just a suggestion...

The only things that don't work in the GM, are if a pop-up comes up and says "Go to this apple.com Website Page" the web page isn't ready, so from here till the 20th they are doing documentation and such...

No I am not going to upgrade my Macbook Pro just yet because next time I get a repair they are going to replace the whole macbook pro (my trackpad is still acting up). I just hope I can get something newer than 2015.

Based on the fact that you can't make an event and say, hello here is the new MacBook with oled bar. End of event. There is nothing left to show. macOS will be released next week and the next ipad's are due for march.
While I can see that point... considering pretty much every Mac is in need of updates right now there could be a lot to show too. Mac Pro could see a new design, MacBook Pro obviously, and maybe there's a new Mac Mini to show?

But, really anything is possible now. I could see them having a hands-on press briefing in private with an embargo date and then release them on the Store around the same time.
