Thanks for the suggestion. I hope you're right about the update. In any case I'll wait, but I don't know, after all this time I feel it's going to be a wet fireworks ( is that an expression in English ). A bit like the iPhone7 which made me stay on my 6 ...

@Wittysparrow : Thanks ! I live in Norway though so this won't work.

@WRONG : :)

Well, what exactly are you hoping for? There's not that much Apple can do to change the fundamental nature of laptops. Aside from spec bumps and smaller, lighter form factors, what else is there?

For me, I'd be perfectly satisfied with the 2015 MBP. My next laptop will be my first Mac (been on Windows forever), and I really want (not need) something on par performance-wise with my 2008-ish desktop. I'm only waiting because I know a redesign is coming and I figure it will be worth hanging on to my old tech a little longer.

Is there anything you can't do now with your current setup that you think the new MBP will be able to handle? Aside from CAD, programming, and 4K video work, most of us don't *need* the raw power of the current MBPs.

Some of us (cough, cough, me) are only holding out because they want a 15 inch screen. The added power for my hobbies is a huge bonus for me, but for work I don't need much at all.

Just going on record to state that we're getting these damn MBPs in October (or November). We are slowly creeping up on TWO YEARS since the latest MBP was launched, and I cannot come up with any reason (other than pure stupidity) why Apple would wait that long to update the MPBs.

ETA: Then again, I was certain we'd see them last week . . .

It will be October. I'm concerned about the lack of ports and the keyboards lack of travel. I love the keys that slightly jiggle when I apply pressure and move my fingers back and forth. Jiggling, in general, pleases me. I would expect the dark or black color to look pretty cool, like how the MacBooks were in days of yore, but if they stay silver that's a very classy look and would not disappoint.

Yeah, pretty scary to see where Apple has taken the refresh cycles at with their Mac lineup. But what's worse is they're taken this to their non Mac products as well. iPhone re-design has skipped the every other year cycle. The watch is now 1.5 years between updates (yeah, yeah, i get that it's a new product, but you'd of thought they'd upgrade it within one year as it's easier to find improvements on a new product vs an established one).

Looks like they think their name alone is enough to sell products!

I can only imagine how much the new MBP is going to change my life.....currently using a 2008 Macbook Unibody with 4GB of RAM (one of my slots broke). My battery is shot to s***. I don't even know what portable is. Love seeing the app icon bounce for 5 minutes when I open anything...not.

Sounds like you need an SSD. My early 2008 (non-unibody) MBP opens pretty much any app quite quickly (maybe not Adobe's CC apps but those would still open in less than a minute). Luckily I have a more recent iMac for work though.

Yeah, have the same 2008 MBP. Upgraded to 8gb RAM and SSD. Works fine now.

I know...I don't want to dump anymore money into this rig. I'm waiting like you all :-( - have been since October 2013. I can't believe it's been that long.

Not going to argue with you there.

All this talk of February/March is depressing :(

I'm hoping this is just a symptom of people's desperation. We wanted them earlier this year, but realistically we had little reason to expect MBPs in March, June, or even September. But there's actual reason to expect them in October now. A number of sources have indicated it and it would make sense given the upcoming release of Sierra. So stop talking about February/March!

I'd almost rather they just come out and say MBPs are discontinued and the rMB is now the only Mac device than have to not know much longer.

Ever since the iPhone 7 got introduced and as we are approaching launch day is as if everyone except for us here forgot that the Macbook exists. Everything is iPhone 7, AirPods, lack of headphone jack b***h and moaning, W1 Beats headphones, iPhone 8 ( o_O!), Apple Watch series 2, "where are the iPads?", iOS 10, watchOS 3 etc. :confused:o_O

Btw, I REALLY want to see what the next invite is going to say. :apple:

Ming and Mark said Q4 2016, so stop worrying.

It's just everyone trying to keep their expectations low. Though admittedly, we as a group kept our exceptions low for the iPhone event and there wasn't much grief/despair after the event finished with no MBP release. So we're getting pretty good at not expecting much out of Apple these days. But this talk of next year isn't fooling anyone. If November 1st rolls by and we don't have a MBP release I expect there to be people with pitchforks outside of Apple's HQ!

Intel 7th Gen Mobile CPUs are now on ARK.

http://ark.intel.com/#@Processors

ofc Iris equipped CPUs aren't yet listed.

lol, 4.5W/15W. Suppose we can expect some new coffee makers to be released soon /s

Hoping for larger maximum SSDs if at all possible. The rest looks good. I'd like the matt black colour option too.

I think 1TB ssd will be an option

Hopefully. I could see them doing 256/8 and 512/16 default exclusively for the new 13 and 15, respectively, and releasing it at $1800 and $2500. This lets them maintain the current price structure and encourages upsell to make up for research and development on those models.

hmm, I see them releasing a 256/8 for more like $1500-$1600. Honestly.
and 512/16 for like $2000-$2100 w/ iGPU. and maybe $2500 for the dGPU 15"

Here's my prediction for the 15" (some obvious from leaks):

- Thinner chassis (.6in?) with metal injection mold hinge
- 4lbs
- Butterfly keyboard switches
- OLED touch panel
- Touch ID sensor
- Larger touch pad
- i7-6770HQ, i7-6870HQ, i7-6970HQ
- Iris Pro 580
- Optional Polaris 11 - R9 470 Series graphics card with 4GB memory
- 16 / 32 GB ram options, DDR4
- Up to 10 hr battery (maybe more see below)
- (4) USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 ports
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Wide Color 2800x1800 screen
- 256, 512, 1TB PCI-e SSD options

Other thoughts:

- Skylake processors won't give that much performance boost. 10% tops. 5.5% faster from i7-4770HQ to i7-6770HQ.
- Skylake Iris Pro 580 will be 65% faster than old Iris Pro 5200. I think the Iris Pro 580 will beat the R9 M370X.
- Better battery life when watching videos. Maybe even up to 11 or 12 hours watching video only. I think this is due to the media enhancements introduced Broadwell and Skylake.
- No MagSafe. I think it will be USB-C charging on both sides. Similar to Chromebook Pixel.
- Polaris 11 should bring some interesting GPU enhancements. Maybe 2x Iris Pro 580? I haven't read much on this so honestly I have no idea.
- No color options this year. Perhaps next. They will sell enough without them.

Personal feelings:

- Haven't read anything about the display choice. I think that Wide Color is the obvious upgrade here. This is my sleeper pick.
- More dongles. No HDMI, No (regular sized) USB ports, No SD card slot. Where the heck am I going to plug in my Yubikey? Dongle it up.
- I'm not sold on thinner keyboard being better. In fact, I think I might hate it.
- I could care less about OLED touch panel / touch id sensor. I think it may be more inconvenient than f-keys for my use.
- No more MagSafe is a con in my book. With that said, my wife uses a Chromebook Pixel as her main machine, and the USB-C charging from both sides is the next best alternative imo.
- Last thought: I have no idea how making something thinner will work with thermals.

I think the specifications you list are quite accurate. .6in seems about right. everything else seems correct.
I do think we will get color options this year though.

didn't we already do the speculation list 50 pages ago?
Yes, and we will continue to do it every 5-10 pages from here on out

Jet black quality

I like more Coffee Lake.

^^^ You guys crack me up

Looks great but that 520 iGPU though..
Probably a better idea to check out their Skylake one with 580.
huh??
520 is skylake. And Razer doesn't sell a model with 580.

@WRONG i think you forgot a really important rule...
Do NOT ask if the new MBP could have kaby lake...

Maybe we can get MR do block out the word kaby lake on this thread. you know like cus words are blocked ****. maybe they can do the same with the words 'kaby lake'

I think the standard starting storage on the new Macbook Pro should be 512gb....not 256. It makes me sick how much Apple is obsessed with iOS devices. From a business standpoint I absolutely understand why. This whole freaking delay is because the stupid iPad sales started declining. When it comes to computers they should give us the best, not nickel and dime us. Make the starting 512, then 1tb, then 2tb. Sorry Im just pissed. Stop trying to revive the iPad. It still sells. Stop neglecting the Mac line. I will never replace my Mac with an iPad....ever.

I didn't expect a September release but if we get through October with nothing released or said, I'm buying a Razer Blade. My Air is on it's last legs and I will not piss away money on a two year old computer at full MSRP. Hopefully you're right about next month
