Damn Coffee Lake for 2018-2019 for me whew, 6-core at least...

"Also, Cannonlake will only launch in the Ultrabook- and Hybrid-categories, faster Quad-Core models aren´t even in the roadmap."

Looks like Skylake is going to be the last of the Quad Core Retina MacBook Pros... damn...

I guess it makes sense. Ultrabooks are the future of laptops and laptops are already on life support as it is. The days of "mobile workstations" are ending (and long gone for some brands).

iPad or GTFO

Not even, since those hex cores are GT2 CPUs. Apple will default to the Quad-Core GT3e/GT4e CPUs. They will move to Hexa-Core once it's possible to stuff a GT3/GT4 in it.

Sidenote: No GT4e KabyLake planned, as some us have been saying since like...forever. Feel a little sorry for the guys over at the "Waiting for KabyLake thread" though.

P.S. Considering Intel is slowing down massively, can we haz Apple designed A20XX in a Macbook Pro for 2022? :3

I hope this means Apple will go all out with this update.

This is what I expect now also. It will need to be an update that lasts though. Lets hope the predictions are right and is going to be the biggest update to the pro lineup.

Can we expect 13" Kabylake and 15" Skylake given the road map?

Oh they (intel) are still going to make Quad versions, that's cool I am down with that...

Can you explain this in plain language? Intel'a roadmap states that they're not gonna make quad core processors with TDP appropriate for the 15" MBP anymore? Like, forever?

The roadmap is pretty self-explanatory:
12.09.2016tr_Intel_Roadmap_teaser.jpg

Right at the top, there is "Skylake 45W, 2-chip BGA, QC GT4e" which is in the market till Q2/2018. Even then, the replacement is GT2 only. Which means that Intel has at the moment no plans to offer a replacement for the Skylake CPU suitable for the 15'' rMBP until at least Q3/2018, or maybe they will drop Iris Pro Quad-Core mobile CPUs completely. I'm guessing we will see a Coffee Lake (Kaby Lake successor) GT4e CPU sometime in 2018 or 19. Which means that Skylake will be the new Haswell for the 15'' rMBP, so get it while it's hot.

Man that chart is depressing.

Maybe Apple is waiting for these coffee lake cpu's and then they'll release the MOST significant upgrade ever. Going from haswell to coffee lake will indeed be a significant upgrade.
Anyway it's almost 2017 so it's getting closer (6 events to go!)

Yeah that chart was hard to read ahah, but I put my laptop on my chest and focused really hard:

2018! CFL QC GT3e for the win for me, thanks again for the chart...

Now the question is will we get a mid year/mid cycle gpu /storage/feature bump a la 2015 MBP or will they ride rev 1 into 2018? They've shown that they're ok with both options.

Oh well, I'm expecting to get atleast six years out of mine like I have with my current one lol.

There's something called bookmarks! You should try it. Just saying.
Yeah yeah believe me I tried all there is under the sun, maybe the best is tabs stacks from Opera / Vivaldi, but since I'm using Chrome ...
Bookmarks quickly become a mess, and much like reading lists I end up not feeling like going through those again.
This keeps me organized, believe it or not :)

"Bookmarks quickly become a mess"...but 100 tabs are easier to browse? :p

There are good apps and services out there... you can save the memory for faster loading.

A bit like the iPhone7 which made me stay on my 6 ...

Biggest preorders EVER. Ikke mye vått fyrverkeri der ;)

Yeah as I say, don't ask :) . I have a system of grouped interests, "read later"s etc etc.
100 isn't even the most I've done. 200-250 was, but this started to be difficult to manage.
Have you tried Pocket? Flickr a link, save it for later. Read them at a convenient time. Helps me click on every exiting headline in safari, twitter and facebook, without destroying my Core2Duo machine.

or they will just cancel the 15" altogether.

yes, that means no more real -pro laptops.
it'll be sad if the new laptops will have a slower gpu than the old one, but that's not entirely new to apple (quad-core macmini anyone?)

I thought "Coffee" Lake was a joke name!!!
