Has anyone actually verified that it was an email from good old timmy?

Hey guys I just stumbled upon this article:

http://www.universityherald.com/art...16-release-date-stay-tuned-means-its-time.htm

I know the email part is old news, but it's stating that Bloomberg is expecting a release this September!? I've not read that anywhere here so I'm wondering whether the author is being a bit silly, or Bloomberg actually made that claim.

Not long now either way though!

I feel the author may be silly. Probably just made a mistake about the "as soon as october", thinking before october

For all those who fear about a Feb/March release.. did you forget about Gurman and Mister KGI?

His report on the iphone 7 was about 100% right, see here: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/03/iphone-7-5-colors-ipx7-12mp-cameras/

And his predictions said both new MBP come this year. (https://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/23/macbook-pro-2016-oled-display-touch-bar/)
Probably going to invite some press & co and make a small release event in October.

Thank you for sharing. Wow KGI really nailed it. Though it was just a week before the event, a lot of that stuff was to be assumed at that point. but he really did nail it.

Anything from *herald is garbage and isn't worth the bytes used to display the page. They do no fact checking and often rehash old stuff often making nonsensical posts such as this. This includes parent herald as well. I could send them a box printed "2017 MackBook Pruo" and they would tout it as their biggest inside scoop.

I couldn't have said it better.

These websites (including christian toady, christian post, yibda...) are totally unreliable and copy/paste articles from each other with absolutely no source other than "someone wrote it on the internet".

Polluting every search for "macbook pro" on google since they update the posts almost everyday.

Mac already supports eGPU. You can go out and buy one now. That's not the issue.
The issue with eGPU is that there are no macOS drivers developed for new cards.
It's not an effort Apple needs to make, but GPU manufacturers.

That being said, I definitely expect Apple to add a eGPU in their upcoming 5k screen.

Well, what exactly are you hoping for? There's not that much Apple can do to change the fundamental nature of laptops. Aside from spec bumps and smaller, lighter form factors, what else is there?

For me, I'd be perfectly satisfied with the 2015 MBP. My next laptop will be my first Mac (been on Windows forever), and I really want (not need) something on par performance-wise with my 2008-ish desktop. I'm only waiting because I know a redesign is coming and I figure it will be worth hanging on to my old tech a little longer.

Is there anything you can't do now with your current setup that you think the new MBP will be able to handle? Aside from CAD, programming, and 4K video work, most of us don't *need* the raw power of the current MBPs.

Some of us (cough, cough, me) are only holding out because they want a 15 inch screen. The added power for my hobbies is a huge bonus for me, but for work I don't need much at all.

(Sorry for late reply, work and all)
Well I'm programming. I'm also known to have a huge amount of tabs opened but with the 2015 13"
2,9 GHz Core i5 -8GB, I can tell you it's slow even with 35 as I speak.
For a machine that is THAT expensive (2200$ on that side of the atlantic), it's just not acceptable.

What I'm expecting ? A revolution, something incredibly thin and powerful. Or why not, upgradable (stupid expensive ram). I'm expecting of course the latest gen of CPU (which we won't have) and a powerful one at it.
I'm expecting to be able to run a server and have 100 of tabs in my browser (don't ask) without the machine choking on it. That's about it.

Also, they did change the fundamental nature of laptops (and OSes). Unibody, thinness -is that a word ?- which gave birth to ultrabooks, Retina screen, great battery ...
I don't know I expected an oled screen, not an oled bar ! Something really cool, really powerful. Instead it seems we'll have a wet cracker, but hey, let's wait and see.
If it proves to be disappointing, at least we'll have great Windows machine to get to. It's going to be a pain to transfer all my stuff and learn new tools but c'est la vie.

100 tabs??

Invites for the media event will probably go out the first or 2nd week of October
[doublepost=1473797723][/doublepost]Or as soon as we get to 1000 pages, whatever comes first
I forgot about the media event. To tell the truth I thought last weeks event was the media event. lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

Just to say... 7 days from the iPhone event have gone, is almost mid-September, so October is coming, so BRACE YOURSELVES.

I'm just trying to imagine this thread when it'll be The Day. Nothing more or less than Armageddon final scene, with a long hero-walking to the nearest Apple Store.

Depends on what browser using as well. I prefer Chrome, especially since its gotten the Material Design makeover, than Safari. I don't mind RAM or battery drainage as I have an iMac.
Yah, but I like the idea of sandboxing tabs. I don't pretend to completely understand what that means but I like what I've heard.

EDIT: I meant tabs not apps
[doublepost=1473806336][/doublepost]And plus I got a chrome virus from some stupid extension a while back. I can't get over how easy it was for that to happen.

My Apple contacts gave me a revision of the invite. It all but confirms no kaby lake

For all of you speculating about kaby lake it's probably not happening, ever, at least for 15" http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Another-detailed-CPU-roadmap-leak-2017-2018.173996.0.html
Kaby Lake: No Quad-Core CPUs with mit Iris Pro

According to the roadmap, Skylake will continue to be in the market in one segment. High-End Quad-Core CPUs with Iris Pro GPUs like the Core i7-6970HQ will stay in the market till the released of Coffee Lake in 2018. There will be Kaby Lake CPUs with four CPU cores, but these will be accompanied by GT2 GPUs only. Not in the roadmap are Kaby Lake CPUs with four cores and TDPs of 15 or 28 W. They were however mentioned in previous leaks, in the roadmap they are only listed for Coffee Lake.

The current CPU platform Kaby Lake will hit its wide-availability-point in early 2017. So far only a few Kaby Lake CPUs in the Dual-Core segment have been released.
