After dropping my mid-2012 rMBP a little over a month ago, I've been scouring this thread and other rumor sites eagerly anticipating the new MBP. I had purchased a 13" dell XPS (skylake i7, 16, 512, touchscreen UHD display) to hopefully tide me over.
Well, after using the highly-acclaimed Dell for a month, I don't know how to explain it but the entire user experience on windows/dell is lacking. I found myself being stressed out more easily, with more eye fatigue.
The dell screen is beautiful at first glance but there are little nagging quirks that becoming annoying very soon. For example, there is a transformer 'buzz' that is audible any time you scroll. Also, the screen tends to subtly flicker on random occasions. The trackpad default settings are HORRIBLE and it was only after a few weeks of tweaking the trackpad settings until it became acceptable, though still far behind the trackpad on an MBP. Volume is barely loud enough at max level. Wifi tends to be inconsistent and noticeably weaker than my MBP. The short-travel keyboard resulted in MANY more typos for me, which is something I am entirely not used to on the mac.
I ended up buying some used parts online and buckled down and fixed the darn rMBP myself and now I am happy as a clam once again. Bought a top case/keyboard/battery/trackpad set, along with a bottom casing, for a total of ~$200 when apple was going to charge me >$700. Though it's true that Apple's specs might not be as sexy as their competition's at first glance, they really do seem to put out a much more cohesive, high-quality total package.
