I haven't come across any information which says that Apple will infact release the rMBP updates in 2017 instead of scheduled October-2016, is that true ? is that correct ? is it coming in 2017 ? Till now no one has confirmed, none of the Tech Sites, that it has been delayed to 2017 ? What's the update people ??

Probably delayed to 2017!

Nobody has confirmed that it will be in October really either, the last credible rumour said it could be "as early as October".

The overall lack of decent rumors is the most concerning part. There were some good rumors about the usb-c, oled-strip but nothing really since then. I would expect more leaks if the MBP's were ready to ship in 4 weeks from now.

My current machine is already starting to fail and I don't want to buy a redesigned machine on day one. I would prefer to wait for 2-3 month to let them iron out production issues. So they better release the darn MBP's soon......

Physical leaks for Macs are not common.

For all of you speculating about kaby lake it's probably not happening, ever, at least for 15" http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Another-detailed-CPU-roadmap-leak-2017-2018.173996.0.html

Thank you for sharing

inb4 Kaby Lake 13" and Skylake 15"
Right it looks like that may be the case. But no until next year. Kaby lake 13" not available until q2/2017

Seems to me that chart means bad news for Kaby Lake 13" unless it's not going to have a very good iGPU..

You are right. It looks like the only kaby lake CPUs for the 13" that would be available anytime soon, are 15W weak GPU. So Apple would have to drop to the 15W and drop to GT2 GPU. And I doubt that would happen.

So it seems most likely, we will get skylake 13" and 15" MBP next month. Then sometime in the first half of 2017, the 13" would get updated to kaby lake. but the 15" will remain on skylake.

Or I suppose apple could launch a 15" MBP now, and no 13". and then launch a kaby lake 13" in 1H 2017.

But I think the first proposal is more likely

Now I'm worried, I don't think I can last until 2017. I'm in need of the top of the line model with dGPU so i hope they at least release that in oct or else i'm going to have to pull the trigger on the current mbp

On a sidenote anyone else thinks iOS is a piece of ****? Apple Music is more "in your face, come subscribe" than ever and I really hate the large fonts meant to clean things up. I can't even comment on how convulted, cluttered and overloaded iMessage now appears to me. Also "memories"-thing in Photos is interesting exactly 2 times. One time you watch it yourself and the other time you show it to someone. Overhyped crap thing full of unnecessary features for hipster teens. Sorry but I like my Apple simple, functional and beautiful.

that's why I'm staying on iOS 9.3.5 on my iPhone 6s. mostly because of the music player.

After dropping my mid-2012 rMBP a little over a month ago, I've been scouring this thread and other rumor sites eagerly anticipating the new MBP. I had purchased a 13" dell XPS (skylake i7, 16, 512, touchscreen UHD display) to hopefully tide me over.

Well, after using the highly-acclaimed Dell for a month, I don't know how to explain it but the entire user experience on windows/dell is lacking. I found myself being stressed out more easily, with more eye fatigue.

The dell screen is beautiful at first glance but there are little nagging quirks that becoming annoying very soon. For example, there is a transformer 'buzz' that is audible any time you scroll. Also, the screen tends to subtly flicker on random occasions. The trackpad default settings are HORRIBLE and it was only after a few weeks of tweaking the trackpad settings until it became acceptable, though still far behind the trackpad on an MBP. Volume is barely loud enough at max level. Wifi tends to be inconsistent and noticeably weaker than my MBP. The short-travel keyboard resulted in MANY more typos for me, which is something I am entirely not used to on the mac.

I ended up buying some used parts online and buckled down and fixed the darn rMBP myself and now I am happy as a clam once again. Bought a top case/keyboard/battery/trackpad set, along with a bottom casing, for a total of ~$200 when apple was going to charge me >$700. Though it's true that Apple's specs might not be as sexy as their competition's at first glance, they really do seem to put out a much more cohesive, high-quality total package.

It seems that Macbook Air will be the only kaby lake mac, for this year at least!
But the Kaby lake processor suitable for the MacBook Air will not be available until next year either.

what about the music player? I don't use the music app much, so I was just curious what is it that isn't good anymore.

Totally agree. More a step back than forward. Or maybe to the side......

It reminds me of Window 8 a lot !!

So tired of waiting... so tired of this crap... Nothing... There is no light at the end of the tunnel... Just an iPad Pro...
We are in the same boat mate...... sold the macbook and bought an ipad pro fully expecting the updates that never came. Lucky I still have a 15" still so can work on that, but my plans have been totally screwed up by these lack of updates.
Too much knowledge is not a good thing sometimes, and ignorance could be bliss if you didn't know the current specs were old.

so, other than the number of cores. What is the real difference between a 2 core and 4 core setup? Do most applications actually take advantage of the 4 cores?

Yes, quite a few do these days, and many users like to run virtual machines; for example I can run Windows with 4 virtual cores (with hyper threading) and OS X with the other four.

the whole ui is such a downgrade in usability and design. for example. iOS 9: open app = immediately shows all my artists on my device. on iOS 10= I have to click downloaded music, then artists to have the same result. in addition the font size in iOS 10 music player look like they should be on a jitterbug not an iPhone.

I agree 100% on Apple Music. If Microsoft can get sued for forcing IE, then Apple can be sued for this. I tried it for 3 months and realized the 5 songs I actually streamed wasn't worth the long term cost. Crazy that you can no longer customize the bottom bar. I just want to quickly jump between playlists/albums/artists. I don't know how such a basic music player concept is convoluted in iOS10.
