20 left to go!

We'll get there (before Apple does). Everyone will be back as soon as the iPhone/watch launch is done. Interestingly enough, my watch that was scheduled for the 26th is now being delivered the 20th. And my iPhone 7+ 128G black is being delivered the 23rd and it was originally quoted as Oct 3rd.

RISC vs CISC, that's why. Arm != x86
Same tools are used for developing for iOS and macOS. They also share a lot of code. I have no doubt that Apple is at least playing around with the idea of replacing Intel's M-series with their own A-series in the Macbook at first.

I think ARM is going to kill x86 in the future. I wouldn't mind having let's say 16 ARM core MBP which could run with all of them when it's needed and use just one for idle. All it would take is for every app developer to update their Xcode to a new version that compiles macOS apps to ARM, right? I'm sure Apple has been working on it for a while already.

If they were going to make that change now, wouldn't they have announced it at WWDC this past summer?

Now that the iPhone craze is dying down, I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing some Macbook Pro leaks. At this rate we may end up getting over 1000 pages by the time its announced.

I assure you that Apple has not been working on a compiler for macOS apps to run on ARM hardware.

Eventually everyone [...] signed up on a spreadsheet someone developed. Nothing came of it

How do you dare to say it?!
TitanPad list was one of the funniest moment I've ever seen on this thread and on the whole internet.
There, I saved some screenshots for posterity.
Enjoy it.

Also, I really kinda miss Serban and Oppenheim.
Both quite crazy people, but they helped us increase the counter.
And the discussion with them where funny, at the end.
@Oppenheim, do you hear me?
Come back, fella. Tell us again about how magical the absence of 3.5mm jack is!

While it might be possible that Apples A-Chips will outperform x86 ones in real life in the near future (running different benchmarks on different processor architectures on very different OSes, where one is very thin and single-app-optimized and the other one a full flexed desktop operating system, is by far not comparable). However, I am pretty sure Apple will not go to ARM for Macs sometime soon (i.e. 5-10 years), and that is mostly because of cost. Creating a ARM MacBook and having x86 processors in the other Macs would create a mess, where only a tiny number of mac users need updated Apps, which wouldn't be very tempting for developers. But creating chips that are powerful enough to run anything from a MBP to a MP would be crazy expensive, and considering the low volumes (compared to iphone) there would just not be enough revenue to pay the complete chip designing.

Looking by the numbers: For iPhone and iPad, Apple has to develop 1-3 chip designs that will be used in about 200 Million devices (one year).
For the Mac line, they would have to create 3 chips per model (if they stick to the current lineup), that would be 18 chip design ranging from MacBook to Mac Pro at a total volume of about 20 million devices a year.

Every day without a leak the chances of seeing it happen in October are slowly diminishing. Given the Kaby Lake roadmap, Q1 2017 seems more likely.

What??? Every time I asked whether the chat happened, people said nothing. I'm now feeling like I missed out on a hilarious party. Thanks for sharing.

Probably not ready for prime time yet but I won't be surprised at all if they are working on it. Probably a pain in the ass getting the UI of MacOS to work on IOS.

Back to the MBP, the more I think of the new features coming to the upcoming MBP, the more I shudder how much more expensive its going to be.

Here's some of the features probably or is coming: the LED strip, touch ID, new processor, maybe an upgraded screen (gorilla glass?), etc.

How much more expensive is the base model going to be alone?

right now the base model for the 13 inch is 1299.00 USD. With the new features, are we talking about 1499.99 USD for the new base model of the MBP? or more.

If it is 200 USD bucks more. I'm curious how much the 15 inch is going to be.

I actually hope the option of matte screen will come back. I really hate glossy screens.. the only good thing about them is they have a fancy look. Also, matte is always preferred by professionals and designers and always the option in high end external monitors. Only Apple like glossy.. they just want their products to look fancy.

I know some people don't care but I think majority of editors and designers want the matte.

I'd rather have matte or semi-gloss; my friend's MSI has kind of a semi-gloss; it's not matte, but it's not a mirror like the current MBP screens.

This! If only people understood that when blogs post about the A chips being faster then an Intel chip it's ONLY to get clicks. Has everyone forgotten that Microsoft attempted this very thing with the Surface RT (hint: it didn't go so well)!

I will let this here,i don't need credit or something. The mac updates will begin with October as follow:redesign macbook pro and mac mini, internal updates for Mac Pro/iMac,and macbook air with Tb3 to work with the upcoming 5k Display with GPU.The OS will disable any mac with only iGPU and let the GPU from the Display take priority.

BS they will do an internals only update of the Air.

Apple is getting worse and worse but that would be unbelievably stupid.

Nevermind they are capable of far more stupid things... As they have proven often lately.

Except today's models should have dropped by at least $500 already. Apple is just milking anyone that doesn't know any better.

I mentioned that I was waiting for the new MacBook Pro to the Apple Store employee when activating my iPhone yesterday and she just smiled and said nothing.

That was her "Awe that's cute. You're so pathetic. Good luck with that sweety." smile.

Please everyone.

Stop saying how much more expensive you expect it to be.

They would raise the prices on everything if they think they can get away with it and you're only making them bolder ever time you support their BS.
