Kaby Lake plus mobile Nvidia dual booting Linux is probably the way to go.
This.

Cook believes that Apple is the only way and we'll buy whatever they release BUT that is not the case.
I went to android when they introduced the iPhone 5 with the pathetic 4 inch screen and waiting till they provide the screen which I wanted (5.5) in order to get an iPhone again.
I'll do the same if they give us an underpowered with no ports MBP.

Unfortunately, you almost need* a Mac to do serious iOS development.

*Yes, there's a VM option, but that is... Not as comfortable as native OS. Not to mention violating macOS license terms by doing so.

True, but if you are honest, a cheap 13" MacBook with Yosemite and Xcode 8 plus an external display gets the job done. No need to invest 3.000€ for Apple's idea of updated hardware and not enough USB ports.

For now, I'm able to manage it with current MBA, but Intel HD4000 with 4 GB of RAM and dev tools running has hard time managing U2515H display.

I also need to virtualise Win VM (with current MBA, I can't virtualise any newer edition than XP due to amount of RAM) as Cypress PSoC Creator is available for Windows only. And developing BLE device with an iOS app without proper debugging on both sides can be... Irritating at times. It would be much better for me to virtualise Win 7+ with 4+ GB of RAM as Win XP is not supported anymore and it's .NET isn't the stablest one (PSoC crashes on XP, does not in Win 7 VM) --> 16 GB RAM config is way to go.

"Cheap" in CZ means approximately 48.000 CZK (1920 USD / 1780 € in i5/8G/256G config) for 1.5 years old machine. I'm not willing to pay that much for such a old hardware.

15" could be better, but as a student I would prefer 13" and its' portability.

Screenshot is WITHOUT VM running. I simply can't run Xcode AND Cypress IDE at once.

Not everyone has the patience to sit back and buy the best product available. Whenever Apple makes a release they flock. I'm no different at some points. I was at watching the worst keynote in history (The March event) and ready to buy the surely released MBP. It never came. It never came in June or September. Now instead of Apple take my money - I'm not buying it anymore. Unless it wows me and the price drops, I'll consider it. OLED strip and 1499? No thanks. Tired of putting my computing needs with a company that doesn't even update their lineup.

I think the title should be changed to "Waiting for Kaby-Lake MBP thread"

Considering several laptops are about to ship with KabyLake including the Dell XPS 13 with a battery life expectation of 22 hours.

First they killed the Mac line up with no proper update since 2013 (Nearly 4 years? Jheesh) Then the iPhone 7 disappointment of no headphone jack accompanied by $230 AUD AirPods and now the lack of word about a single update for Macs beside the usual iPad fetish they insist on people replacing their desktop/laptops to use an over-sized iPhone with a $99 pencil.

Tsk Tsk Apple. I hate being that 'one guy', but Steve Jobs would be so ashamed.

Mikeeeey: Others use 15W CPUs (and those are available in Kaby Lake family) but MBPs use 28W CPUs (and those are not available). Different performance class.

Correct. But not exactly my point. Whatever will be released will be overpriced and not be updated for the next couple of years. That's why it's a bad investment. The components might be good for six month.

I agree... But what can we do about it? :( We can just hope that Intel will provide Apple first 28W Kaby Lakes as they did with some previous CPUs already.

Right now, to me "all bet`s are off" Apple`s price points are too high for the average consumer and the hardware too diluted/constrained for many classic professionals/heavy users. The bigger question is which path will Apple choose to follow?

If we don`t see new Mac`s on the release of Serra, we may well be in for the "long game" New OS, new Mac`s one would think that this the perfect set up for sales & marketing. Like some others just waiting, no longer needing, equally very interested to see if Apple can still impress...

Sry but the power of the upcoming mbp will suprass this gen of 15w kaby lake and the next one. So put another year for those 6 months

Yesterday I bought the iPhone 7 128 GB, it is great and very fast (nearly the same geekbench results as our 2006 Intel XServe) - I am shure it is easier for Apple to make money with the iPhone ... so don't expect to much from an upcoming Macbook Pro, because all the power they have is going to the phone / watch market.
It makes me sad but it is how it is.

It's really tempting to buy a MacBook Pro 15" with 256GB SSD for 1.580 euro new on eBay UK.. or the one with the dGPU for 1.870 euros.. That's 1000 euros under the Official Apple Price, so this new MacBook Pro better be worth it..
